I had gone to the location in Tequesta a couple of times now and it had always been a very decent experience. I decided to try out this location because the food had always been good and the service had been decent. To begin with, they sat my party at the back and things had gone decent. Our waiter came to the table and spoke in Spanish (I can speak it but not the other member of my party). We responded in English and off he went. Then the bus boy came by and refreshed our chips, everything good so far. Then the waiter came back, speaking English and all is well. Our food took over twenty minutes to arrive, and when it did we were not given any utensils. The food was atrocious, and Ill be honest, a part of me feels like....an extra ingredient was added. Nonetheless, when the tab came, we were charged dinner prices when the menus we were given were for Lunch prices. I mean I dont care about paying dinner prices but like? Give me the menu for dinner not lunch. When the waiter came to give the tab, he rudely gave the bill to the other member of my party, speaking Spanish in a mocking tone. Now to someone who doesnt speak Spanish, that is very rude. Its rude in MY culture and it should be rude in the waiters too. I know what he said "Heres the bill my friend ehe.....enjoy". But I mean.....when you say that in a mocking tone that can be very rude. We left without leaving a tip. It was awful. Never again.

Their website only has a menu for one location, and its not the jupiter one. Unfortunately theres literally zero mention of this anywhere and it took the person who answered the phone a good 3 minutes to figure this out after talking to a manager. Finally figure out a togo order and go to pick it up. Talked to two different people who seemed perfectly fluent in English upon entering, so why is the person taking phone calls also the one who is least familiar with the language? They didnt let us finish explaining how we wanted to separate the checks (which we had already attempted over tiger phone) before walking off. Got home to try the food and...wow. Chile relleno is in a tortilla, poblano beyond undercooked and filled with the most flavorless cheese Ive ever tasted...basically the melted texture is the only thing that says cheese. The rice looked nice and red and seasoned but might as well have been plain white rice also, and the beans were easily from a can. They have a pretty large dining area and live entertainment...so why cant they pay someone to update their website (which this locations menus still provide as being their website)? They have English speaking employees...so why cant one of them answer the phone? They have Mexican in their name...so why doesnt their food have any flavor? Wish we had just gone to Taco Bell.

Beware ordering the guacamole! They play games with the price of it. If you order guac to go with your chips, its $3.99. The menu says on the side with your meal is $0.99. Ive ordered it on the side before but got the larger portion so I was extremely careful to order a SIDE this time, was still charged $3.99. The waiter argued with me, said the larger portion is what I got. Yeah, thats fine, but thats not what I ORDERED. The manager argued with me. Both of them told me the $0.99 was a very small portion, $1.99 is what comes on the side, but I got the larger dish and all the menu says is $0.99. I have no idea what you have to do to get the small side. I wouldnt have been so annoyed if it hadnt happened before. They do other little things like this to run up the bill. We have eaten here many times. The food is always excellent. The service is hit or miss. Tonight we had very slow service (table next to us was seated as we finished eating, they were done eating about the time the manager was explaining why I had the $3.99 guac). I think well find another place for Mexican. I dont like games, and I really dont like a manager arguing with me, defending their bait and switch and the waiters lousy service.

Rancho Chico 2/8/11 A group of us frequent the restaurant in Tequesta, at least, 12 times annually and aggregately spend well over $1,000.00. We experienced a rather unpleasant experience with the manager on 2/8/11. After ordering our meals, two members of the group noted there was very little sour cream with the fajita orders. When we requested more they quickly brought it out. The waiter service was very good and so was the food. When we received our bill, there was an additional charge of $3.00. There was no prior notice given of the extra charge. When I questioned the manager, he said thats the way it was. We told him that we were year round residents and would not return if he was going to " nickel and dime" us. He had a attitude problem and said that not coming back was our choice. It was not the $3.00 because we would have added to the tip. As a result, the restaurant lost a number of customers. The manager won the battle, but loss the war. G.Pecora

Please do not go to this establishment. I have never been treated with so much disrespect by another human being. The waiter czar not only charged my husbands card twice, trying to steal his money which was confirmed by my husbands bank, but also put shoved his hand in my face every time I told him our card was not declined. He would not let me speak or even say a worse without putting his hand in my face and clearly stating out loud "shut up". I used to love this place and went all the time but this was the worst I have ever been treated by a waiter. The manager then stuck up for the waiter saying he was just telling me to shut up because im not supposed to talk. I will never go there again and I truly recommend that anyone else think twice before going to this location. I love their food but the service was horrible and they tried stealing money. Do not go to this location!!!

I looooove Rancho Chico. Ive been going to the one in Tequesta and then later the one on Indiantown for around 6 years, and I go maybe a dozen or more times a year, despite the fact that I dont even live here. Its my favorite spot to go after a long day at the beach. Its so easy to fill up on the salsa (my favorite, anywhere) and warm chips. The margaritas rock too, strawberry is my favorite. Ive never had an issue with the service or the food. I do recommend steak/beef over chicken though. The chicken is alright, but can taste kind of dry.

If you like the style of "Mexican" food that is various items buried in cheese and cream sauces, this might work for you (although youre probably better off with the larger chains). If you want something more authentic, you wont find it here. The chicken has that nasty quasi-metallic unmarinated chicken taste. All of the ingredients must be premade and kept warm, as our meals came out about 3 minutes after we ordered. However, the ambiance and service were good, and the prices are reasonable. The chips and salsa were good.
