Plaza Azteca is one of those guilty pleasures. The food is great, and the atmosphere is great also. Sitting there eating the food, you know its probably not that great for you. But you simply sit back and indulge anyway. The menu at Plaza Azteca leans heavily towards the "Americanized" version of Mexican food. Tortillas, tacos, enchiladas, and chimichangas are all to be found on the menu. That being said, theyre all excellent. the queso tastes fantastic, and the salsa and sauces are spicy without being overpowering. The trend lately seems to be make it hot, without any regard to enhancing the actual flavor of what youre spicing up. Plaza Azteca gets some spice in there than compliments, rather than overpowers, the taste. On my most recent visit, I tried the chimichangas. These can be ordered fried or soft, and mine were fried. When brought out, the contents (one beef, one chicken) blended together for a wonderful taste. Whereas other places may have "sections" inside their food (Taco Bell fans know that of which I speak - one bite of your enchilada is beans...the next bite is the rice, the next bite is the cheese, etc.), the ingredients here were blended very well, so a very pleasant mixture of all the ingredients was to be found in every bite. Plaza Azteca also has a great bar, with both domestics and foreign. My lady wife tried the classic mojito on our last visit, and this was well nigh flawless, reminding us both of the ones in Puerto Rico on our honeymoon. Excellently made. The service is quick, and every single employee is either Spanish or speaks it, so if youd like the real deal, you can get it. The restaurant is clean and attractive, though sometimes the interior can be darker than I like it. If you prefer it darker or youre just simply in that kind of mood, then this is definitely your place. Typically the restaurant is active, but not jam packed. Ive rarely had to wait longer than 5 - 10 minutes for a table, and usually were seated right away (the restaurant can accommodate a number of people comfortably). Prices are very reasonable in proportion to the servings, usually in the $9 - $13 range, most of which include sides. There is also a lunch menu, which has cheaper prices, but almost the exact same portions as the supper menu. The drinks tend to be on the more expensive side, but as I dont typically run up a huge bar tab, thats not something I tend to worry about. All in all, I honestly have to say I have *never* had a bad meal here. the food, service, and prices are all very good. I would heartily recommend eating here any day of the week.

In trying to be as objective as possible, Id like to first say to please disregard (respectfully) the comments of others saying that this is authentic Mexican food. Its Americanized Mexican food with some added in aspects that could be fooling some people. That said, the food is somewhat decent for what it is. In general the service is good, but if youre a regular (like I used to be) youll start to see certain things that wont be to your liking and Im not talking about one time occurrences. The wait staff is usually attentive, but there are a couple of servers that, to be honest, Im not sure why theyre there. Our last visit we were attended by a guy that gave us bare bones service. He sat us at our table, took our order, but didnt do the basics like bring silverware, plates to go with appetizers, and had a general attitude of wanting to get each interaction over with. At one point I had to go to him to (respectfully) tell him that were were lacking service at our table. I overheard him basically acting the same with a party next to our table so Im left assuming he just wasnt into his job. If youre looking for average Tex Mex style food youll probably like this place. Or maybe if youre in the mood for a watering hole that you can order some finger foods with then you might be alright as well. However, authentic Mexican food it isnt and if youre a regular youre going to eventually see that service is a craps shoot. Three solid stars for overall/averaged out service so far. Minus two for inconsistency in food quality and waitstaff.

This place is the WORST. Slow service every time, but my most recent visit was by far the worst. Had chips and salsa sitting at our table for 20 minutes before we even got a glass of water. Took 30 minutes to get our margaritas (which are the only good thing about this restaurant). Then they charge $4.99 for a serving of queso that couldnt have been more than 1/4 cup. We had to order 4 servings to accommodate our table of 4 people because the servings are so small, and they charged us $4.99 for each one. $20 for enough queso to accommodate two bowls of chips is ridiculous. Ive never been to a Mexican restaurant that was so stingy. And to finish it off, they got 2 of our 4 entrees wrong. On our second conversation with the "manager," he still wouldnt do anything. He asked me if he was supposed to just give everything away for free. I said no, but he wouldnt even agree that the 20 minute wait time for water was unacceptable. Dont know how this guy ever made it into management. He didnt appear to have any more authority than the hostess. I will be finding a new Mexican restaurant to frequent. Never again would I return here.

First time Ive been here while visiting the in-laws. There is a go to place that the wife and I frequent back home in Ohio and this wasnt too far behind. The staff is very nice and service was quick. During black Friday they had didnt seem to be as busy as I anticipated. Establishment was clean and the food was good. We ordered the queso fondito as an appetizer and oh boy! I highly recommend it. Also, ask for spicy salsa when they bring out the chips. They will bring you 2 kinds along with the mild version. A roasted tomatillo and a habanero. Mix the tomatillo salsa and regular red salsa together and get a whole mix of flavors and heat. The habanero salsa is good bit be careful cause it packs some heat that sneaks up on you. I will definitely be coming back as we visit this area often

We did not have an overall good experience. The service was bad. Our server wouldnt write down our order, so he had to come back to ask again. He took our salsa away to refill it, and didnt bring it back for 15 minutes and only after we asked 3 times. My friend got a taco salad, they forgot to put cheese on it, and after he asked for cheese, the waiter brought him out a plate if cheese, which he charged for on the bill and refused to take off. My food was good, but I dont think that will make up for everything else. I probably wont be back.

This the 2nd visit for my wife and I in a long time to this restaurant. My understanding is that new management has come in since we used to come here on a somewhat regular basis. We sat in the bar both of the last two visits. We both enjoyed the food very much, from the salsa to the guacamole to the tacos to the burritos. However, we experienced slow service during high both of these times. We were not in a rush either time, but if you are on a hurry this may not be the best choice. If you have time on your hands, then I would recommend.
