After a really rainy afternoon, and being ditched by our daughter, we decided to go on an adventure. I set about doing my due diligence of research, read a bunch of reviews and pulled up the menu. Sounded good so off we went. This little gem sort of redefines "Hole in the wall." We passed it twice before we finally found it, but Im glad we didnt give up. We didnt notice the parking area on the side until we had created a parking space in front. The interior was minimal, with only 3 tables in a tiny area. So we ordered. It was nice to know that precooked meats were not just being put on a soft tortilla, as evidenced by the sizzling sounds coming from the tiny kitchen. The tricky thing about adventure eating is to not chicken out as soon as you get to the adventure part. This requires you to go at least a little bit our of your comfort zone. Tonight was my first exploration in the world of tongue, politely called "lingua." Tongue is not something thats ever been on my list of things that really out to be on a plate with the exception of licking off extra sauce. However, the lingua taco was very good. The meat was incredibly tender, well seasoned and piled onto a double layer of fried corn tortillas. The taco pastor was delightful, with a bold blend of marinated pork and pineapple. The fruit added just the right amount of sweetness and the end result was delicious. I also had a tamale, my perpetual "go to" dish for judging Mexican food. Yes, it was a real Mexican tamale! The shredded pork inside, was tender and flavorful. My only objection was that it was a bit heavy on the masa for the amount of meat and didnt come with the sauce that was mentioned on the menu. If you need another reason to give this place a try, the couple that runs it are just lovely people. They chatted with us briefly before we left. They were very grateful for the comments we gave them and excited that we were going to be reviewing it here. Id go back just to see them light up at people loving their food.

I moved to Fort Lauderdale from Southern California ten months ago and had been craving Mexican food all this time. When the overwhelming desire to eat Menudo consumed me yesterday, I did an internet search and found Alegria Tacos. // This restaurant embodies everything Ive grown-up to expect from a good Mexican restaurant: its small and a dive, but the service and food is out-of-this-world. I was greeted by Edie and she was warm, polite, and genuinely kind. My excitement had me order a Carne Asada Burrito combo, large Menudo, Chicken Enchilada combo, 2 tacos de Carne Asada, and 2 tacos de Lengua - all to go. The total cost was very reasonable - I couldnt believe it. // When I was home, the containers were filled with food and the flavors were *authentic*. This isnt crappy canned food, this is THE REAL DEAL. The beans are light; the rice is separate and fluffy; the textures of the tacos; the meats flavor; and - oh, man!! I divided the food with a friend and he, too, was taken aback. Needless to say I ate my entire half and gained 5 pounds... but I really dont care. Id gladly do it again in a heartbeat. // This is a new, favorite place to eat and they have 2 brand new customers for life. // If you want genuine, authentic Mexican food, then stop by Alegria Tacos. You will not be disappointed - and your wallet wont be hurt either.

My husband and I read the reviews on Google and decided we would give this place a try. The ingredients are fresh - far better than most mexican restaurants. I had the tostadas with steak. The steak was very lean and very tender. It was topped with pico de gallo, sour cream and cilantro. I also squeezed some fresh lime onto all 3 of the tostados and added a little of their fresh salsa. My husband had the chicken, steak and pork tacos. He said they were the best hes had...EVER. But, if you ask me, its the care and attention the owner puts into dealing with his customers. While being served his food my husband got so excited he knocked over his Diet Coke. We tried to clean it up but the owner insisted that he would take care of it and told us to enjoy our lunch. Its nice to see someone taking pride in what they do. We highly recommend this place as a fantastic alternative to corporate franchise giants as their food and service are far superior to any of the big names.

The food is decent, referred to as Mexican by multiple reviews, but is more Spanglish than anything. Meaning, depending on what you order may have a very authentic spanish flavor or may be americanized for the masses. Tried the steak fajitas which were good, but oddly enough came with a large portion of rice n beans. 2 ground beef tacos had much better flavor, but were not properly rendered of fat making them very greasy. Total $22... which is ok because the portion sizes are decent. The decor outside and inside is nothing to talk about and the inside is very warm. Tables are really just those waiting to pick up their order. Its a hole in the wall, mom n pop place with some good and other meh items. The biggest problem is parking is non-existent, with just 2.5 spaces in front, the side is apartments which are often occupied and next door tows anyone parked there.

This tiny taco shop has a small menu of extremely tasty and authentic Mexican food. They mainly serve tacos, tortas, burritos, and tamales, either a la carte or with rice and refried beans. What makes everything so special is the TLC put into every dish by the friendly and personable owner. The fresh corn tortillas are double stacked to provide a handhold that will not soak through and burst on your first bite. Tacos are garnished only with a fresh salsa of tomato, onion, and cilantro, letting the natural flavors of the meat come through. The pork, chicken and beef are all fresh and well-seasoned. Careful of the very spicy salsa; I think its made with habanero, rather than jalapeno. This gem is nestled in the not-nicest-of-neighborhoods, but if you are nearby, I cant recommend it enough. A great meal.

saw the high reviews and decided to give it a try . horrible mistake . my brother ordered 3 ground beef and 3 marinated ground pork . i got 3 ground beef. First thing i noticed was that the tacos were slimy . not greasy , slimy . they smelled ....off. i put on hot sauce . first one tasted horrible . thought maybe it was the sauce . next one i ate without . even worse . i was so grossed out i could not finish the third one ( and they are small ) . my brother scarfed his down as quick as he could so as not to taste it . while we were there someone was coming in to return an order they had placed . wish we had thought of that . no cold drinks . no running water in the bathroom . riding home we were both belching up what tasted like rancid feet . i am not exaggerating . we both nearly got sick .
