Located in the Pontchartrain Square Shopping center, Coffee Rani has good food at reasonable prices. I always thought it was only a coffee shop, but was pleased to learn it has an extensive menu. After trying it last week, I enjoyed it so much that I came back the next day and several more times since. On my first visit, I dined in. I was not a fan of the way the dining area was set up. While there were some booths, many of the tables were set very close together. I dislike restaurants that do that because it makes having private conversations difficult. Some of the tables also were right next to the area where people ordered or waited in line. Sitting there when there was a line would be a tad awkward. Despite my issues with the dining area, the food has always been very good. The salads are the best Ive had on the Northshore. Portions are large enough for a meal, and the ingredients have always been fresh and of high quality. On my first visit, I stayed in my comfort zone and ordered a club salad. On later visits, I decided to trust their salad making expertise and I ordered the Jamacian Jerk salad. Who would have ever imagined a chicken salad with olives, grapes and apples could be so good? I sure didnt, but it was great. I guess the point that I am trying to make is that, the food here is very good. Even if you arent sure about the listed ingredients, trust that they know what theyre doing. In closing, go to Coffee Rani and youll enjoy it. Order to-go, and youll enjoy it even more.

Few months ago, a friend of mine brought me here ( right next to K mart in mandeville) and we had a great lunch, also got military discount on my meal. I kept going back to this restaurant and told my military friends about their military discount and all. But they changed their mind left and right saying if you are not in uniform, we are not going to give you the military discount even though we show them our government ID. So one day they feel like thanking the military and the other day they dont? Just remove the whole thing saying " we do not do military discount." Instead.

Well, I used to eat here 3-4 times a week for about 5 months straight (3 years ago). Just got a to-go hamburger(medium) and ceaser salad. The lettuce was dry and meat was rare and quite unseasoned. Im sure it was a mistake, and the owner tried reaching out to remedy the situation(But google maps wont let me reply to his response)... So, I decided to edit the review and bump up the rating by 2 stars for the effort the owner showed. Im sure they turned up the quality control after hearing what happened.

Even though the place was almost totally empty, several tables and all of the booths had dirty plates on them. Rude service as well. When I asked our server for butter for our toast she pointed to a setup across the room and said, " its over there." We wont be going back.

Great foods. The salads are their specialty. The place is very quiet and very comfortable. It is in the back of the shopping center and not visible from the street but worth looking for.

Coffee Rani in Covington--5 in our party and we all enjoyed our food. I had the Greek salad and it was delicious. $10 for a huge salad. I ate every bite! Cant wait to go back.
