I will have to disagree with the highly rated reviews here on Google (though usually Google reviews are more reliable compared to those on OpenTable or Yelp yakkk!). Anyways, the sushi here is mediocre at best for its price. You can taste that the fish they use here is not sashimi grade, which makes the nigiri tastes plain and soft. The worst part of our dining experience was the service; it was horrible! After paying for our bill and tipping the server 18%, the server chased after us and accused us for not tipping enough. In my defense, all he did was to take our order and pour us water for only once; I believe that a 18% tip should be more than generous for the service and the food that were provided here. It is really unprofessional and rude to accuse a customer for being cheap when the customer in fact paid a 18% for an already not so pleasant dining experience. Totally unacceptable!

I have to disagree with all of the other reviews here on Google, the sushi at Hikari is mediocre at best. Ive done take out from here maybe three times, but Ive written it off now. At I wish I liked it better because it is very close. I cant comment on the dining-in experience, but as far as the quality of the sushi, Id pass on this joint. Sorry.

The bartender took our order. It seemed that she was by herself, although the place was not busy. We waited for about 40 mins to get our food. We ordered tuna and they gave us octopus. Our waitress (the bartender) was not sure whether it was tuna or octopus (what?) so she went to ask the cook. Sushi was just okay. Not happy :(

This is my favorite restaurant find in all of DC--I have tried a lot of sushi and the recipes at Hikari cannot be rivaled! Reasonable prices for a night out and excellent chefs. As of 2015, the area surrounding it has been under construction, but in no way should that deter you from trying it. An absolute must-eat in DC!

Pleasant enough place, but the food (our lunch was sushi and teriyaki chicken) was disappointing. Friendly service, nice bathrooms, and a casual bar atmosphere. Might try them again for happy hour if Im in the neighborhood and dont want the usual H st bar scene.

The food was great! We went for dinner with friends, very small and cozy. The sushi was great, and the chef was very helpful and attentive. The fish was very fresh, and there was nothing too crazy on the menu, very traditional. Simple and good!

Great atmosphere and good sushi. Also, Excellent, very friendly service. Like super friendly. The Sake selection is excellent. Ive never seen so many choices for rice wine. Prices are reasonable and the staff was helpful and friendly.

Hikari Sushi and Saki Bar is great, the bartender Jamal really knows how to make a drink and gives great customer service, My girlfriend and I go there almost every weekend, the food is amazing and JAMAL IS GREAT, GREAT HIRE GUYS.

Good quality sushi for DC. The maki offered are more on the classic side. I only wish they had happy hour food specials and better beers. The space is modern and loungelike. I love that the first floor is kind of divey.
