Well, the food is good and also is the staff. But the price is way to high for what they offer. My rating is based on my two problems there: first I asked the Tokyo umai and when it arrived it came with avocado instead some Japanese thing. When I asked the server, she replied with a menu not being up to date and avocado in this food would taste much better. In my opinion this is not an excuse for telling me this change. My second problem was when I ordered salmon sushi. It was good but when the bill arrived they were charging more 4 dollars for it than the menu price. Again I called the server and she replied with a small piece of paper sticked to the menu saying the price can change at any time. Also she said this is because the salmon is fresh, bought this morning. So basically if you pay 6 dollars, you may be eating a rotten salmon. Or be sure to look your bill because they may charge you 20$ for two pieces of sushi? Price can change at any time. I am telling my friends to never go to this place, you can go to others sushi, pay a better price and do not worry about this little scam. Thank you

I stumbled upon this small restaurant when it first opened. The food really surprised me. The sushi is very fresh. There are a lot of unusual and unique sushi in the menu, most of which I havent seen elsewhere. I always get the chirashi when I go. Its a bowl of rice with a lot of sashimi covering the top. Really worth it. The price is pretty reasonable for a sushi restaurant. Plus, since its fresh, I dont mind paying the extra bucks for a good meal. They really go down the finest details in serving you, whether it is with the natural water or the extra complimentary desserts. Their service is very nice. The waiter even went around and shook hands with everyone at our table and asked for each of our names too. The décor of the place is questionable. It may seem updated, but I think theres not enough lighting inside, especially during the night. The place is small, making people wait for a long time during the weekends and Friday nights. The menu is really small with small font. Its difficult to read.

I LOVE this place! Im fortunate to live so close and probably order from here way too much. But I cant help it because this place has amazing sushi. The price I would say is middle to high ranged depending on what you are getting. But I definitely have had sushi of lesser quality for a higher price elsewhere. Plus it is worth every penny. They deliver very generous pieces of fish in each roll. You almost have to take two bites! Ive never had bigger pieces of sushi! I specifically get each time, the Alaskan, Negihama, and/or spicy tuna rolls. My girlfriend and I also love their house salad, and miso soup. Their ginger dressing is top notch. We also have enjoyed their entree meals as well. You cant go wrong with this place, everything is consistently fantastic each time. Every time I order a certain amount of take out, they even throw in a little container of fish tempura for free :) Staff is friendly and professional, and their little restaurant is cozy and welcoming.

Came here for my birthday! It was awesome! I love reasonable and professional sushi places rather than sushi buffet. This place had very amazing fresh quality sushi I have ever gotten in many years. Ill make this review a quick one. -Giant rolls, they filled more with fish than you can ever imagine! -Price for rolls was absolute perfect and cheap and reasonable. From 5 to 10bucks! If you want sashimi, its a big bang for quality over quantity. I ordered Red Snapper and came in two slices but it was 10bucks, but the size of the FISH they gave me...Yeah and the quality of the fish... OK YOU GOT MY TEN BUCKS WORTH! Yellow tail was amazing, all the fish were amazing! Im coming back to this place! Also the servers and chefs are so KIND! They welcomed me and my friends, and also had a surprise birthday dessert at the end. They really care about you and even said a WARM goodbye as you leave. Make me want to come back and relax here alll the time! Worth coming BACK!

Absolutely amazing. I ordered the sushi & sashimi box at lunchtime. The fish is extremely fresh & flavorful. The 3 crunchy rolls you get in the box are off the chain and they might have lasted 30 seconds in front of me. The salad & soup that you get with this box are a very nice touch to the flavor profiles already presented. The staff is friendly and fast but not fake and rushed. Perfect environment for a first date or a quiet dinner, but the restaurant itself is a little difficult to find of youre not familiar with the area. Well worth the visit, I would recommend Umai to anyone that has a sushi or sashimi craving. I wish there were 6 stars. Keep up the awesome cuisine Umai!

I dont understand how this place is rated so highly. Just like someone else mentioned I ordered for pickup and when I got there the price went up $4 dollars because I was told that it was higher quality tuna. It certainly did not taste any better for the extra cost. Sushi is incredibly large and prepared sloppy. I dont expect amazing because it is in the suburbs but better than I got! I will stick with my usual place in north wales. Longer distance for me but always great.

I have eaten sushi at many acclaimed restaurants in many cities. When those who know about my absolute love of sushi ask about the best places Ive eaten, I always refer to a small and inspired restaurant tucked away in Lansdale PA. Chef Ray is fantastic and I find his creations preferable to dishes with twice or three times the price tag. Umai is a secret gem and if you have not experienced it yet, I highly recommend.

If you are in the mood for a fantastic dining experience without the crowd, Umai is a perfect choice for a wonderful meal. The fish is fresh and quite tasty. The chef is meticulous yet prompt. Service is spot on. Dining atmosphere is casual but with a sophisticated decor. An average selection of sushi, but the quality of each roll is well worth it. Try Umai, you will love it!

Umai is a great restaurant not a lot of advertisement or heavy decor great service I heard about it by word of mouth. I suggest to try their specials it almost always is made from the freshest fish they have. It tends to be fairly busy even with their lack of advertising (The owner spends all the extra money on higher quality or just more fish). Best sushi in the area.

Quiet and relaxing atmosphere, with delightful sushi and staff. This cozy restaurant will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed. The staff and chef(s) are always pleasant and courteous. The sushi is some of the best that you can find in the Lansdale area. The complimentary fried banana and honey rounds out each visit quite nicely.

Very friendly staff. The freshest fish. The best sushi bar in this area. Pay attention to the artful presentation that Chef Ray puts into his food. I ordered Blue Shrimp, and when it arrived, the juicy body was carefully arched over a perfectly formed *cylinder* of sushi rice.
