I live in San Francisco and eat sushi regularly at places like Tokyo Go Go, Blowfish, Sushi Groove, and Zushi Puzzle, among others. Sushi King is terrible. They try hard and mean well, and their restaurant is actually surprisingly upscale, but ultimately the sushi experience feels like "sushi for people who have never had it before". My dinner companion literally said that if McDonalds started offering sushi, it would taste like Sushi Kings. My $110 dinner (for two) at Sushi King consisted of: -tuna belly (3 small pieces of sashimi) that was not fresh or flavorful -flavored sake that tasted like lemonade with too much sugar (my fault for ordering, but it was an accident as Id never seen sake like this) -a "honey do" roll which was slathered in huge amounts of sticky sweet honey mustard sauce. the sauce was fine for mcdonalds chicken nuggets, but not for sushi -a few other rolls notable only for being very mediocre. -there was ONE roll which was not downright terrible and which was only 1.5x overpriced, rather than 3x overpriced: it had a white soypaper wrap on the outside. Service was acceptable, decor was surprisingly good. Sushi was terrible. If you like fish, you wont like sushi kings. I have a feeling that some of the positive reviews included were written by people like the ones who dined behind me and ordered two california rolls and two tempura rolls. If thats your idea of sushi, you might like Sushi King. Also, it seems like people associated with the restaurant have spammed citysearch, zagats, and google with fake positive reviews. I have no axe to grind with this restaurant - its just terrible.

The White Tuna MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH. At least I believe that was what I ate. We went in for lunch and I had high expectations because Ive worked at a sushi restaurant before and this place had great reviews. Here are my thoughts. I got the Lunch Sushi Combo (just 5 pieces, a tuna roll, and soup) and everything was pretty normal. Maybe it was because I havent had sushi in 3 months but the white tuna blew my mind. The other pieces were good as well (although I ended up just eating just the salmon from the salmon roll). I also got the Explosion roll because there were so many comments on yelp about it. Some people love this roll but I didnt find anything too special, just colorful sauces. Overall, service was great, constant water refills (thank goodness),and a bit pricy but they dont skimp on the fish cuts. Definitely will come back for the melting white tuna goodness.

I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE Sushi King. I go there all the time with my bf. A while back, we took our friends there and told them it was the best place ever. My friend ordered a big tray of raw fish. Suddenly he yelled out, "my fish is moving." At first we thought the fish was so fresh that it was moving...we were so wrong. We all looked closely at his fish and suddenly a parasite crawled out from the fish :( Oh my GOSH! We all stop eating and the lady owner came over. She was very apologetic. Any how, none of us has been back and I have not eaten sushi since! I know there are risks involve but I have NEVER have risks staring back at me. And last month I was watching "Monster Inside Me" by the Animal Planet. It showed the same parasite that I saw at Sushi King!!! It is very harmful if you eat it so please please please be careful!!!!

Im unsure if it was a sub par restaurant or the perfect storm, but it was a poor experience. Ordered the deluxe chefs choice and the snow white roll for pickup on a Friday night at about 7. Waited the time they requested (40 minutes) then went to pick it up. Ended up standing for 20 minutes with a bunch of other people next to the entrance. The host did give us two free salads for the wait. Only, they forgot to give it to us. As we were getting ready he tracked our car down and said we forgot them. He ran back in and grabbed them for us. Very, very thoughtful of him. Took the food home and ate it finally. Was pretty good. Then my stomach started hurting. Now Im on the toilet grimacing.

Sushi King is our favorite restaurant of all time, bar none! My wife and I have been going there for... (drum roll please)... 21 YEARS!! Yes, twenty one years - since before we got married. For us, Sushi King has the best sushi weve ever had anywhere. But the most amazing thing is that their food has been almost flawlessly consistent for over 2 decades! That consistency is a mark a true excellence. They have fantastic fancy rolls but for me, nothing is better than the plain salmon sushi. Its simply perfect. (Im salivating just thinking about it...). And the yellow tail... and the hand rolls... and...

Best Sushi I have ever had!!! I have been to many places and even to Japan and this place is the real deal. The owner is the SWEETEST woman and all the waitresses are nice and welcoming! I love it here and Im always bringing new people and they fall in love with it too! The tempura literally melts in your mouth and the teriyaki almost made me cry it was so good. They even have great vegetarian options! So many great options to pick from this is a true sushi lovers paradise! And VERY affordable! I usually never do reviews but I just had to let people know that this place is the best!

We absolutely love sushi, however, we might even be sushi snobs. If youve ever eaten at Yuraku in Germantown, then you understand why. This place has a decent assortment of sushi on the menu, however, we wouldnt call it "Sushi King". We might actually call it "Sushi Prince" or "Sushi Duke". Sushi King aims high especially daring to name it as such. The menu assortment is typical; so if youre looking for exotic or new combinations of ingredients for sushi, this isnt the place. If youre looking for typical assortment yet good sushi then this is the place for you.

My husband and I just had some sushi from this place and it was HORRIBLE!! The spicy tuna had no spice and was too chewy! The shrimp tempura roll was over done, so too crispy and chewy. The eel roll had way too much cucumber so much so that you could hardly taste the eel!! And the soft shell crab roll (at $14.95) was horrible! I dont think Ive ever had worse sushi!!! Weve been to Kaz in DC and a number of other restaurants in MD, NC, VA and even South Africa. Never again at Sushi King! Soooooooo very disappointed!!!!

Having tried many many sushi restaurants and tried a large variety of things, I think this place is top notch. Not my favorite as the price was a little higher than average for a majority of rolls, but food in Columbia tends to be on the higher-end of pricing. Sushi was very good, my favorite being the Explosion Roll (delicious and also affordable). The ambiance, decor, service, and customer care in general were very nice. This was a perfect anniversary dinner spot and we will likely go back again.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant. I may be easily won over by small gestures, but it means a lot to me that tea is free here. On top of that, they have great specials for lunch, the sushi is always fresh, and the staff is very friendly. Ive seen them greet many customers by name. My favorite dish from here is the seaweed salad. I like the crunch and think the taste is quite refreshing. They have a wide variety of sushi rolls to choose from and I havent been disappointed yet.
