Well it was my birthday the other and my fiance and friend we were visiting took me to Benihanas. We were greeted with the traditional Konbonwa which in Japanese means Good Evening. Promptly were given a table among some friendly fellow patrons. The new general manager came to our table and presented us with the specials of the day and some promotions they were running like the $30 off birthday special when you sign up for the chefs table. I found out later my fiance had signed me up for this a couple months ago and had brought in the coupon for the evening, I was curious as to why we were in on thursday and not saturday for my B-day but apparently the coupon cant be used fri saturdays. Fair enough for me $30 more of sushi= yum yum yay. I ordered a spicy las vegas roll from the sushi bar for a mere $7.50 which is an average price as far as sushi goes. I saw some say the sushi is expensive but these arent some cheaply put together sushi rolls that lack the taste it takes with loving care and art the sushi chef makes here. Hiro was working that night and he truely is the best sushi chef Ive ever had to eat sushi from. Didnt take long for my $30 worth of sushi to be made and was ready about the time the chef came to the table. to start cooking. Good sushi takes time. Sushi is never suppose to be made as an appetizer. If it is its either premade or prepackaged and seriously lacking in taste and texture. Hint hint dont order sushi as an app or youll be waiting too long for the main course. So then the chef comes to the table and is very personable. I believe we had Bic as our chef. We upgraded our white rice that comes with the meal for a mere $3 and i can see why they charge a little extra. Not only is it flavoable but they make tricks out of preparing it that is very delightful to watch. I still cant do the egg trick like they can without breaking it right away. The chef prepares our other appetizers by doing spatula tricks and twirling them on his fingers. He pulls out a slice of onion which curiously you gotta wonder what you could possibly do with an onion. He begins seperating each layer from the other and stacking the smaller ones over each until it looks like a little mountain. Next he pours some fluids into it which when I asked he explained it was water, cooking wine, and oil. Out of nowhere he lights it on fire and moves it to the middle of the hibachi grill and flame shoots out of it like a volcano. The kids sitting next to us were happy to enjoy the show and it made me feel like a kid again myself. it ends with steam shooting out the top then just as it was started the onion is sliced away and it is over. We enjoyed a chicken and steak special for two. Not sure if they will still be running it by the time someone reads this so id suggest you be smart and call ahead instead of just assume. My chicken was moist and full of flavor and the steak was cooked to perfection. At the end of our meal to my surprise they brought out a little buddha statue that was so cute and had decorated icecream. Many of the servers and bussers and even the General Manager gathered around to sing me happy birthday and give cheers. It was quite a pleasant experience and they even got my name correct too. They then took a photo which was made into a nice little paper frame and given to me. Apparently you can also go online to their website for additional copies and a service that sends said copies to friends for free. Overall I enjoyed my trip to Harrisburg to visit a friend and was very happy with my birthday experience at benihana. Now its back to Tokyo for me and the fiance.

Let start by saying, Ive been to many hibachi restaurant in general. This was the worst experience I have had. It was a Friday dinner for my mother birthday. The cook name "LEE" brought out the food cart along with boxes Togo. He begins making fried rice for us. The portion was huge, and later we discovered it was mostly for a Togo order. Next he gave us fried rice without veggies. Because the other Togo portion took the whole table to prepared. I even asked him "oh I didnt order chicken". He replied "its not for you". So next he continued cooking meat for Togo order, while we aassumed they were ours. Then he put them in boxes and the manager name "Teresa" came and took them away. Next we cooked our food. And all this time our fried rice is cold waiting for the entrée. Lastly, he cooked the veggies. (Never I go to a hibachi place that they would cook veggies last, its usually fried rice and veggies together, then the entrée). My thing with this is: I never have someone that cook a Togo order at our table. They either have a chef that prepares at a separate table, or do it at the end. Not choosing Togo order over the dinning in guests. Im extremely Disappointed with their management. Maybe its not the chef fault, maybe he was told to do that. Over all this place food is just okay, and way over priced, the service and organizing is TERRIBLY wrong.. dont let me start going into about the long wait. I was there at 6pm only 4 tables are being served. 7:05pm the chef show up. Terrible.....terrrible

Called for take out. They said 40-45 minutes. Its been over and hour now......still waiting. Im sitting in their "lobby" watching kids run around scream behind the counter, they are an employees kids I hope/dont hope. Very unprofessional. The owner/manager gave me my bill then walked away, I had to flag her down to find out my food wasnt ready yet. Horrible experience. The chefs are always good but the ownership/management must be trying to piss off every customer that walks through the door. This isnt the first time the staff has been rude and inattentive. Ive been going here for years a couple times a month I think this will be the last time. Shogun, Miso, and Sapporo East are all better anyway. Dont pay the Benihana price if youre not going to get the Benihana treatment.

Just want to say the food was very good although not as good as our local Japanese Steakhouse in Annapolis. They charge extra for fried rice which I thought was a rip-off on top of the already high prices. The reason for my poor review... I was extremely disappointed because we ate there one Saturday night and we were one of the last parties to leave. We got to our hotel and realized my daughter left her sweater at the restaurant. I immediately called (15 min tops since we had left) and had to leave a message about the sweater. I never received a call back. I called as soon as they opened the next day but the guy I spoke to could not help me. So if you go, dont leave anything behind!!

What a terrible experience. We went to this place over our lunch hour during work. The idea was to get sushi, so we went into the sushi bar area. It took the waitress about 10 minutes to come to our table. She brought water, but no menus! After another 5 minutes, we got the menus. We placed our order immediately, as we already could tell how this was going to go. We ordered 5 rolls, none were cooked. After a total of 40 minutes, with only WATER, we walked out. Lunch break was over. Now we are sitting at lunch, starving. All we wanted was sushi. SUSHI. Would have been faster to get Hibachi. Terrible place. Will never go back.
