I wish I could rate Minato separately for service, food, and cocktails. The service was amazing. We got there right before happy hour ended, which I recommend you try, and the servers were very accommodating in making sure we took advantage of the reduced price menu. The martinis are awesome and we loved the Gyoza. We decided to skip on ordering our meal from the happy hour menu and went right to the regular menu. Im not a big eel fan, but with almost every sushi roll having eel in it I decided to try it. The eel was cooked well - I highly recommend the Maryland Roll. The rest of our sushi selection was mediocre. It saddened us because the space is beautiful, staff was friendly and we were so excited to try it out. We will go again for happy hour, maybe we just hit an off night.

Bar none the best sushi in Baltimore. Always fresh, always delicious, and always reasonably priced. They run lots of specials and you can often score half price rolls during Happy Hour. The staff at Minato is as good a reason to go as the food. They are welcoming and always attentive. Minato is the kind of place where the staff makes an effort to remember you and even details about your likes and dislikes. They even remember I have an allergy to mango...no matter how long the time is between my visits...and they will point out if a roll has it hiding in it. Be careful eating at Minato can become first a habit and then a true addiction.

Have been twice for lunch... Disappointment both times. Starting with the ginger salad dressing, very oily. Not even a good oil, like a cheap veggie oil. The rolls were poorly made, very loose and falling apart. The teriyaki sauce on my chicken was watery and lacked the "punch" it should have. My drink was finished after my salad but remained empty throughout my meal! On the flip side, they have a nice modern decor :) I appreciate the Japanese culture so enjoy when my waiter and chef are Japanese... That is one more thing lacking here

I loved the atmosphere in this place. The lychee saki cocktail was really good, similarly the shrimp tempura was delicious. The only complaint I had was about the rice. It might be personal preference, but the rice lacked the flavour Ive had at other places (no vinegar, salt, or sugar). It was only really noticable when I ordered chirashi sushi, but not so much with regular rolls. Otherwise, its a great place for a date or a night out with a small group of friends.

We got a few basic sushi rolls that were pretty good, but nothing super amazing. The decor was fun and the atmosphere was inviting. The low review is mostly for the ramen. We got the tampopo ramen. Basically, unflavored chicken noodle soup. It was broccoli (in ramen?!), carrots and chicken in a bland broth with noodles. I couldnt even finish mine it was that bland. I would steer clear of the ramen or entree dishes at this place-- sushi is for sure their specialty.

hey there. minato is a great sushi restaurant on charles st. for appetizers, i recommend the calamari (sauce is terrific) or the tuna tataki (tuna is raw in center but seared on edges). the sushi in general is great and i love their tsunami rolls (mix of sushi roll wrapped in mango strips). minato is def one of my favorite restaurants in b-town. the new interior decor is hip, chic, and cosmo. enjoy !!!

Staying a night in Baltimore I was in the mood for Sushi. Ratings for Minato were good and it was near my hotel, so I went there. Maybe its because Im from Seattle, where Sushi restaurants are everywhere and the quality of sushi is quite high, but I wasnt impressed by Minato. It was just okay and was certainly overpriced.

First time going here looking for a place to eat weekly since it was pretty close. Overall good experience, the servers were very kind (especially the tall lady with the glasses) and the chefs knew what they were doing. The spicy mayo isnt spicy as I thought, but its nothing to complained to compared how good the food is.

Small, intimate, cozy and chic. Best of all, the sushi and sashimi really is very good! I have lived in Japan twice, and I can say this is comparable to many places I visted in Okinawa and on the mainland. The decor is bright and friendly, and is good for a laid-back and satisfying light dinner. Enjoy! :)

Minato happy hour has been a staple for my friends and me for years! The food is good and the prices make it even better. My favorite is the Laura roll and the Lychee "saketini" They have been much better than many other Baltimore restaurants when it comes to large groups and splitting checks.

I had a large group going out to dinner, and Minato was extremely accomodating - they set us up, provided excellent service all night, had exquisitely good food, and were extremely friendly and happy to have us. I would go there again without hesitation.

Love this place - the sushi is really well made with quality ingredients. The spring rolls are delicious and come with really tasty spicy sauce. Happy hour sushi rolls are only $7.50 - I recommend trying out the Doug roll, its delicious!

wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Definitely one of the best waiters ive had in recent history. the sushi isnt that good, and I dont understand the hype. Everything felt soggy and mushy, especially the spicy tuna roll.

Minato is my favorite sushi in the world, period. The staff are all super nice, and the food is just amazing. Their spicy tuna is second to none, the best Ive ever had (in the continental US).

Love this place. Happy Hour prices unbeatable for quality sushi provided. $7.50 per roll, no matter its usual price. Rolls with first names (Doug, Laura) in title are coincidentally my favs
