The Saltwater Grille is an exceptional fine-dining establishment with gourmet seafood and excellent service! With its extensive menu options for both lunch and dinner, (not to mention the decadent dessert menu) there is a dish to suit every diners preference. It is easy to tell the food is prepared properly and with wholesome ingredients too. My favorite dishes are the wedge salad, the crab cakes, the pesto salmon, and of course the warm bread pudding. Of course, dining out should be an enjoyable experience that extends a beyond savory meal. The hospitality I experience while dining at the Saltwater Grille is just fantastic. The new owners, Brooke & Andy, have done an excellent job of reaching out into the Litchfield community with open arms, kind demeanors and a kind staff. Ive spent a good portion of my life working in the fine-dining industry at a country club, and the Saltwater Grille is absolutely comparable in both food quality and service. I would recommend the Saltwater Grille to anyone looking for a proper, enjoyable dining experience.

Wonderful place, excellent food! Im puzzled by the recent poor reviews. Four of us went there tonight (Saturday), the place was full and the service prompt and attentive. We had the salmon with dill sauce (2), MahiMahi, Tuna and all thought it was the best they have had in a long while. The salmon reminded me of a wonderful mean I had in Nantucket years ago. Very charming place...not to missed! They also treated us with a free starter of salmon mousse on cucumbers...a nice treat. Seriously do not listen to these very polarized poor reviews. They are just not justified at all, and you will see that as soon as you walk in the door. Very fresh seafood in my opinion.

Dont waste your time and money - by anyones standards this restaurant is truly disappointing. The staff was for all intensive purposes invisible - no how was your meal, no can I get you another drink, no tableside manner whatsoever. Now the food, you would be better off using your money at stop and shop, either the chef was off for the evening and having his dishwasher doing the cooking or he forgot his skills. I would not feed this to my animals - truly dogfood. On the other hand if you was sub par and inept service and poor food this is your next stop.

The fish was SOAKED in butter and fried. After asking for a healthy fish dish this is what they served?!. I sent it back and they still charged me! THEY ALSO PACKED IT TO GO! Before leaving the tip the manager assumed we were not paying enough tip even thought we were still paying the bill and she asked for more money for the waitress. Very Very unprofessional and insulting. I will never go there again. It was no wonder we were the only people dinning there on a Friday night. IT WAS AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE! Where is West Hartford center!

We went out to dinner for a friends birthday. There were 10 of us on a Monday night. We were there from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. because the service was SO slow. We had to keep asking our waitress for our drinks. We also had to ask her for the birthday girls dinner because she forgot to bring it out. My husband had the crab cakes which he sent back because they were nothing but filler. My friend and I both ordered the sole which was horrible. We both sent it back. This was my first and last time at this establishment.

Went there tonight for the first time. Excited to go to different town. Liked the location and ambience on the patio and then down hill from there. Ordered at 8:15, took 25 minutes for appetizers, then did not get entree until I said something around 9:20 p.m. Terrible service. Food was just a little better than average. After we finished our entrees we were the only people on the patio, they closed the door to the restaurant and basically forgot about us. Probably will not give it another shot.

Website, Online Reviews, and Atmosphere: initial impressions good until... arrival. No air conditioning (HOT and HUMID day), generic menu with choice selections. Service staff very pleasant however confused with only three tables being waited on...(delivering food to wrong tables).Salad(poor quality and charging an extra 2$ with entree)Chowder(mediocre and also 2$ charge with entree)and lastly Surf/Turf, under cooked over $. Will not return.

The good: Service was excellent. Bread, salad, soup good. The bad: crab cakes were all filler, barely any crab. Other entrees had very small portions. Roasted veggies were horrible and no sign of "roasting". Offered to dub soup for salad then tried to sneak in a $2 up charge even though server never mentioned. Was here 2 years ago and was much better. Will never go back. Better options elsewhere.

Terrible experience. We ate inside and had fruit flies, flies and large mosquitoes hovering over our meals the whole night (2.5 hours!). The lobsters were so overcooked they were spongy and the corn on the cob was rubbery as well. The waitress was good, but seemingly embarrassed by the food. My father-in law shelled out over $300 for this dinner for six. Will never return to this establishment.

Incredible restaurant! Everything about our meal was PERFECT. The atmosphere is comfortable and classy with a distinct "wine-country" feel. The food was great, and the fish was cooked just right! The chef really knows what he is doing. We even stayed for dessert (a delicious sorbet)! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Makes me wish I was in Litchfield more often. GREAT EXPERIENCE!!

Everything in our 3 course meal was perfect and amazing. The atmosphere is very cozy and interesting - there is a wall of wine bottles lofted above part of the dining area. Overall, it has a contemporary barn feeling. The place was also sparkling clean and the service very attentive. I cant wait to try this place out in the summer when the patio is open!

Atmosphere was very pleasant and wait staff very attentive. I thought entrees were overpriced for what you got, $24 to $44. The Lemon sole was excellent but it came with a mountain of sticky flavorless white rice and only 2 small slices of grilled zucchini. The cup of soup which was included was delicious.

In a recent visit on a Saturday night which was not all that busy, we received horrible service. Fish was overcooked; our waitress would bring someone their appetizer or entree, while others in our 4-person party would wait 10-15 minutes for their food. It was haphazard, sloppy and unprofessional.

Simply wonderful food and service. Crab cakes are stellar and unique. I have now gained a new respect for the lowly parsnip in their root vegetables. I could eat that on its own. I have had salmon, clams and cod at various times. All wonderful. I will definitely be back.

I love this place. Ive been coming here a couple of years now and mostly get great food and good service. A couple of the bartenders go out of their way to remember you and what you drink. I bring in new people frequently and have never had any one disapprove.
