This review is for the establishment, management, disrespect, and policies. But having been theyre before, to top it off, the food was extremely oily and subpar. Extremely disappointed and will not return to this restaurant. Except for the waiter, our experience at this restaurant tonight was infuriating, specially due to their management and policies. Clearly, not friendly for babies with nut allergies since EVERYTHING is cross-contaminated - This was confirmed by the manager. Our daughter, like many children nowadays, has a nut allergy so couldnt eat at the restaurant. Since we had already ordered the food, My husband considered it too late to walk out and go elsewhere, so went across the street to buy small fries for our daughter. As he re-entered the restaurant, he was stopped by a waiter and told about a strict no outside food policy. So he calmly explained our situation and upon refusal, he asked to see the manager. He "humbly requested" the manager "to make an exception to the policy" and expanded the situation. His response was "I humbly request YOU that we have a strict policy and no means no". He asked if the baby could eat idli, but we agreed she couldnt due to cross-contamination, which he reminded him of. He then said "why dont you go feed baby in the car and come back." Who does that? Since the food had arrived by then, to not make a scene and waste, we quietly ate, paid the bill (with a note to the manager) and left. Conclusion: my family will NOT return to this restaurant until they are able to be more considerate to children. Having a high chair by itself does not make you a child-friendly family-oriented restaurant.

Our first dining experience at Saravana Bhavan was horrible. After a long tiring day, we went to this restaurant to find some comfort. First of all, the looks of the place is decent, BUT the service is extremely horrible. I order Medhu Vada and Chilli Baji for appetizer and Masala Dosa. After a looong wait, they gave us 4 Bondas for appetizer, and when we told him that we didnt order these, they argued that we did and tried to force us to accept it. After the appitizer, we got our main course, which was plain dosa, and again told them we ordered masala dosa, they became extremely angry, took the plates in and put a cup of masala on top of the Dosa's. Apart from all this, the attitude we recieved from the waiters were extremely shocking. At the end when we asked to speak to the manager, the waiter said the manager is too busy. Overall, we had the worst restaurant experience. My family and I have been to many restaurants, but have never faced a service of this sort. Terrible food, disgusting unprofessional behaviour followed by insults. After speaking to some friends, I am not the only one to recieve a bad service. Please avoid this and try some very good restaurants around this place... Moksha, Ming... and many others.

Worst Indian restaurant in Edison. Just the same Indian behavior in US. Staff, one of girls has no manners at all. We ordered chana bhature for my son who got confused between the former and poori masala. I called the same waitress within one minute of placing the order and she refused to change the order saying the order has been placed and she cannot change the order. We said ok we will have the chana bhature. I and my husband got what we had ordered and since chana bhature never came my son also ate from what I had ordered. 15 minutes after finishing our items, chana bhature still had not arrived. So, I called that lady again and asked her whats taking so long? She said oh, this place is so busy, it should be coming soon. I reminded her how she refused to change the order within 1 minute of placing the order and now she is giving excuse for delay. I asked her to cancel the order, and paid for the items I and my husband got and said GOODBYE forever. They donot care only because they have that backward Indian mentality. No sense of customer satisfaction or respect for customers who give them business and help them earn their living. Horrible Indians in U.S. Will never go there for sure....

Average food(high in ghee and price though.Best part is straight from refrigerator). Nasty service. Better go to A2B @ Piscataway. The people who work here has no clue what is the meaning of customer service. Especially the manager. We went as group of 5 and we placed 5 orders. We got only 4 of them and kept waiting for the 5th one. We checked with multiple waiters, they all gave us same response - "sir 5 mins". And it was more than 45 mins and still "sir 5 mins". When we talked to the manager, we came to know that he was very short tempered guy and no clue about customer service. He is so cheap and ready to cancel the order and give us check. And also he claims that i didnt give him an opportunity to fulfill the 5th order. Did i went there to eat or to give opportunity to each and every one who work there to fulfill my order. The picture of the manager was already posted by one of the yelp reviewer. And thats not the end of the story, when we got the check there was lot of other items on the check. We have to have them correct it and pay. It was really awful to see how the reputed restaurants like this get spoiled by managers like this.

I wish I can give 0 star. We read very low rating and thought , it might not be that bad as its Saravanan Bhavan , but wrong.. it was worst.. we ordered Dahi Vada, Kama Idly and Dosa , all 3 items were total crap. 1. Dahi vada was rock solid like stone , it seems it was frozen , and they gave without even defreezing , they just pour some curd and give to us, no spice , no sauces, nothing.... Worst... 2. Kama Idly - We had kama idly at other place, and with our shock , here we get totally different item, with hell lot of Garam masala , which you cant even eat.. it gave us so much burning feeling in stomach. I can easily eat spicy food, but not this kind of spicy.. 3. Masala Dosa - Worst, just mashed potato without any taste Service was also pathetic, its funny when one person came to collect the dishes while we were eating and he stared at us and asked "can i take the dishes" , what the hell ? and he was keep waiting in front of us , so he doesnt need to come back. Dont ever to to this crappy restaurant, Dont get fooled by Name, they are not upto the name.. I bet this restaurant will be closed soon.
