It is really hit or miss at Backstage. Sometimes it is amazing and others it is truly disappointing. After the last visit I will be looking elsewhere. It should not take 2.5 hrs+ for dinner on a Wednesday night. Food is good but not so over the top that I am willing to sit around for over an hour for a table (after being told 10 minutes) then another 40 minutes for a waitress to come to the table (because the host never sent anyone). I ordered the banana pancakes at one brunch and they had 1 slice of banana. When I asked the waiter he went to the kitchen and they told him, well, we were out. Dont you ask the customer what they want then, instead of giving them something they did not order? Other times we have good service and the food is fine. Again, hit or miss. I suggest going for lunch when it is not so confusing for the hosting staff and the kitchen is not so inundated that they make strange choices just trying to clear their board.

I am a private chef and have held every position in the restaurant business. Fine dining or a burger joint, service is still always key for success. At at Backstage last night. We sat at the bar. I can honestly tell you that it was the worst service I have ever received. Both female and make bartenders ignored not only me, but all of their customers...even the executive chef of the premier restaurant TEN in Providence RI...along with serving him the most disgusting, still "mooing" hamburger...Waited ten minutes for a drink and acknowledgment at a not very busy bar. They feature 40 taps and when we asked for a beer sample, the bartender could care less about marketing their product. She forgot to add shrimp to my salad, forgot dressing and an extra plate on my friends. Its a shame because the place is really cool inside and their menu variety is excellent..This place needs that show Restaurant Impossible.

Was there for a rehearsal dinner with a wedding party of about 20 adults including a few kids and babies. We had a wonderful dinner. They did a hamburger bar and the burgers were awesome, the roll / bun was amazing and plenty of toppings from fried eggs and onions to bacon, veggies and cheese. Sides included some awesome sweet potato fries, pasta salad and regular fries. Dessert was hot chocolate chip cookies with your choice of vanilla, chocolate or salted caramel ice cream. Amazing. Loved the drink menu - tons of martinis and cocktails, 40 beers on tap and another 70 in bottles or cans. Granted I didnt pay but thought the food and ambiance were incredible. Private room to the side was very nice and spacious and not as loud as the main dining area. Great service. Would love to go back for lunch or dinner again!

Great beer. Average to high prices on drinks. $4 bud light bottles. Some beers are up to $8. A shot of 70 captain Morgan cost us $6 each last night. Not crazy high prices, but Ive seen cheaper. My biggest complaint is the atmosphere and lack of crowd. When I go to a bar, I go mainly for a fun casual atmosphere in which theres plenty opportunity to mix and mingle. Backstage however is not setup for this. Everything is so spread out on the bar side and the lack of customers is often disappointing. It seems this bar is only popular just prior to the start of a show, or just after the end of a show at the Warner Theater. Great selection, not so great atmosphere.

Food OK, but over rated.. Waitstaff was not really nice actually they made fun of my daughter.. and yes I still gave a tip.. I also let the waitress know I eat at restaurants and wait them for Google, this waitress must really not care about the restaurant she works for because of her arrogance towards the customer. I would have given a higher mark Backstage, and perhaps the person who oversees the wait staff should pay more attention to how this waitress treats the paying customer... Other then that food was alright not extravagant but alright...

Went in during dance competition with 12 originally and grew to 18. They were hesitant but put us on the 2 large tables by kitchen. Our server, Todd, was excellent. He accommodated the parents table and girls table. Not a long wait considering size of order. One missed cooked burger, which was corrected right away. Todd had no problem splitting check 5 ways. Great experience all around. We dined around 2:30 and only waited for 5 minutes, without a reservation. Dont forget to sign up for a free burger on your Bday!!

The food here is great and the folks are very nice. The atmosphere I found a bit lacking. It seems to go for a high ceiling dark industrial feeling not unlike some brewery bars with the same theme. I found it echoey, loud and a bit frenetic. They have a great selection of beer and offer beer flights along with amazing sides. So this is still the place to go for beer and apps even if it could be a bit less like a warehouse.

Decent food, awful service I have been here many times- service has been unbelievably slow most of the time- over an hour wait for food, cold fries, orders not made properly. Lots of staff running around and nothing seeming to get done. pretty disappointed; nice place in a nice spot with an awesome beer list. Bottom line- enjoy a drink (if it ever makes it to your table) and dont come hungry.

Backstage has a nice, relaxed feel to it. Its location to the Warner Theatre is prime for taking in dinner and a show. Ive never personally had any problems with the service, but could see it slowing down with a full house before a show. Food is good, but pricey for the portion sizes you get. Definitely worth a stop if youre in the downtown area.

Food made me sick! Something seemed a little off with my sandwich, but I ignored it and paid the price later in the afternoon. I called them not to complain, but to suggest they check the quality of the meat, and no apology was offered. Thats a strange way to treat a customer. It was my first time there, so I guess I wont return.

Backstage never ceases to impress me. Their menu changes season to season so you dont get the same menu year round. Their food is absolutely delicious and made with good quality ingredients, some of which is local. Their cocktails are also perfectly made. The staff is always welcoming and very patient. I have never had a problem here.

Food is good but as a gluten free eater its not easy, options are few and far between. For a bar its awesome, do a restaurant its a little too wide open, lacks coziness. Open later for dinner than most places in the NWCT area so its great for late night dinner. Beer selections looks awesome (cant drink it anymore) great wines.

Love this place. Great food. Friendly staff. Resonably priced. There was a small mistake with my meal made by a new chef. It was really no big deal but they went above and beyond to make it right and to make sure I was happy. On tap root beer is amazing! Highly reccomend this place!
