April 25, 2014 To Whom It May Concern at the Babylon Carriage House, In March 2014, we had our son’s Bar Mitzvah at the Babylon Carriage House. We rented out the entire place and had over 200 guests. Although we dealt with many people in planning such a large scale event, the person that was our main contact person was Kate Yacino. She was really terrific because she was attentive, creative and truly listened to our needs and concerns. With her kind and reassuring manner, she made sure that everything would go smoothly the day of the event. My husband and I really appreciated that she took the time to meet with us on several occasions to plan the lay out of the party and the timing of the events. She made excellent suggestions whether it was how to separate the kids from the adults, what color schemes for the table cloths and napkins worked best, what appetizers were the most popular or what music entertainer she would recommend. We really trusted her judgment and felt that going into the party, every detail was taken care of. We had previously been to the Babylon Carriage House for several dinners throughout the years. This was the reason why we decided to look into booking our event here in the first place, although we had never been to a catered party there. The day of the event arrived and I was very pleased with the choices of food that they had for the buffet. I also liked that during cocktail hour the food was unique and it just wasn’t the “typical” cocktail finger foods. Several of our guests called us the next day to say what a wonderful time they had at our son’s party. They really liked the warm atmosphere and raved about the food from the buffet and the choices that they were given. We were also impressed with how attentive the entire staff was. They were helpful in directing the guests to their places, serving and clearing dishes and drinks and they all seemed to have a positive and friendly attitude. It looked as though they truly enjoyed their jobs and all seemed to work well together. Because we had such a large party we had the kids in the private party room upstairs. They were entertained by Tommy the DJ who played music and did karaoke with them. We also hired three dancers to make sure that the kids danced and played some of the DJ games in order to win prizes. Tommy was wonderful with the group (ranging from ages 5 to 13) and we would highly recommend him as well. The adults had seating arrangements both using the upstairs and downstairs tables. Cocktail hour for the adults was downstairs. Although table arrangements were not the typical “10-12” person arrangement, with a little bit of creativity, I was able to group sets of friends and relatives in clusters that they all seemed to appreciate. We had a guitar singer, named Jay Haus, on the main floor who did a great job. The music was pleasant, but didn’t “overtake” the entire party where it would be difficult for the adults to have conversations. By separating the kids, with the loud teen DJ music, from the adults, with the mellow, guitar music, everybody seemed to enjoy the type of music that they were listening to. Thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Carriage House: from the waiters, bartenders, chefs, managers, musicians, etc. A special thanks to Kate Yacino who made sure that everything went smoothly the day of the event. She is very professional, personable, and enthusiastic. I would highly recommend the Carriage House for anyone thinking about doing a nicely catered party in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Sincerely, Laura and David Elgavisch

Lobster Bake Night.. avoid. The truth: that they dont even honor the reservation system should have been the first clue. We had a 7:30 reservation for 4, and knowing it would be busy, made sure to be early, so as not lose the reservation or be bumped. In reality, what was the point, everyone who walked in got put in the same standing order regardless of having a reservation or not... and then told to wait.. Ok, so youre busy, I understand. So 20 minutes later we get seated. Since its my sons birthday, we order up a special wine which reminded us of an earlier trip to that vineyard in the Pacific Northwest along with some appetizer while we wait for our lobster bake. so the wines flowing, apps are finished and all of a sudden we get the manager.. we are out of lobster. Now???? you decide to tell us.. weve been in the booth for almost an hour... what insult and disappointment and basically ineptitude.. you know how many lobster you bought, you know how many patrons so far you have served.. everythings computer point of sale... the manager and my wife convince us we should stay (hindsight against my better instinct).. at this point Ive lost my appetite, my sons lost his.. she offers to comp the wine and the appetizer. Ok.. we order.. but at this point its so late who wants to eat anymore.. something light, that they cant run out of. Meanwhile, as I still see multitudes of lobsters coming out.. like wtf.. is there a secret club, a secret lobster handshake.. did they have their names engraved on the lobster hours ago??? Total BS. Finish our light dinner.. ask for the check.. nothing was comped.. the wine and the app are still on their full fare. And the extra app they sent out "on the house" that we didnt order or want was placed on the bill as well. At this point Ive had it.. to our waiter.. you should have been paying attention, so if you want your tip go take it up with your manager for the value of the comp she promised. Never again.. which is a shame; because we have had good dinners here.. but this is unacceptable. Had I walked out I would be criminally liable for theft of service... where is their culpability in promising to comp the wine and the app, then send out an app we didnt ask for and have the gall to charge for it all.

Fantastic!! I own a local business- Towers Flowers of West Islip and we finalized a deal for expanding our location. So my group and I had cause for celebration and choose to go to the Carriage House. We arrived late for a Tuesday evening approximately 9 PM.We were greeted with a smile and the hostess was very happy to see us and assured us that we could enjoy ourselves and relax even with the late seating. We chatted a bit and ordered drinks and wine and finally got down to dinner. The six of us listened to the great recommendation from our waitress Michele Bridget and then ordered assorted entrees. Well let me tell you! I had had the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass Yuzu emulsion, with the most delicious Lobster Risotto I have ever tasted! The rest of the gang had Pan Seared Salmon with Sweet pea and corn cous cous, marinated grape tomatoes, Orange Soy Buerre Blanc outstanding and even a couple of non- fish eaters sampled and loved it! We had Bacon wrapped Filet Mignon which melted in your mouth like butter- That totally rocked! We also had delicious Filet Mignon sliders and a huge Marinated grilled Chicken Cesar Salad Enough to feed an army, but It all went.. We were all in accordance that there was no single best dish as they all were super Fantastic! We will absolutely go again and certainly recommend getting to the Carriage House as soon as you can!! Dont miss this fine dining gem, right in the heart of Babylon. Delicioso!!!!
