I have to start by saying that I love that Chestertown has a sushi restaurant! For years and years, the closest sushi was in Middletown, DE, but no more! Sadly, Sushi Yama in Middletown is still much better than Cafe Sado. True, Cafe Sado is not exclusively a sushi bar, so it should be judged with its other food as well. There are several Thai dishes which are decent, but I still havent found them great. The pad Thai, a benchmark which I judge all Thai restaurants, was middle of the road, with decent flavor, but too much sauce. The Thai lemongrass soup is a good spicy seafood soup, but it is very spicy so watch out if you cant handle spice. The "special" sushi rolls werent all that different from the regular sushi. I thought the fish tasted fairly fresh, but the presentation was rather bland. There just wasnt the same attention to detail and care that the chefs at other places (cough Sushi Yama cough) have. I really admire Cafe Sados effort, and Im very open to going back to see if they improve. Until then, I cant justify giving anything over 3 stars.

Food: 3/10 Tonkastu ramen and Shanghai crispy dumplings. The noodles in the tonkastu ramen were overcooked and soggy. The broth was tasteless. I would have even taken MSG at that point just to have some flavor. The Shanghai cripsy dumplings werent crispy due to the fact that they were under cooked and our Waiter forgot to bring them out. Service: 2/10 Waiter could barely speak English. Didnt understand when I asked for chili oil to bring even the slightest bit of taste to the ramen. We asked for separate checks. He brought us one check. We asked again for separate checks. Then proceed to wait again for him to come back to process the bills. Wait Time: 1/10 If you dont mind waiting an eternity for your food you should come here. We were seated decently quickly. The food took ages to come out though. Almost thought about walking out because of how hungry we were. Had to wait forever to checks as well. Cleanliness: 1/10 Decently clean if you dont mind swatting away flies while you eat your food.

I was very happy to learn that the original Kent Island location would be expanding to Chestertown, taking over the former Brooks Tavern. The menu has a smattering of several different Asian cuisines, including Thai, sushi, and some other Japanese standards. The filet mignon sushi is my favorite by far. All sushi is always "buy one, get one free," but you need to remember that the cheapest items on your bill are always the free ones. Selecting items that are all about the same price gets you the most bang for your buck. The fixed price dinners are another great option.

My husband and I were so glad when Tony decided to open a restaurant in Chestertown. We loved his restaurant near the Bay Bridge. Now it is so nice not to have to drive that far for his delicious sushi. Charming restaurant with pleasant ambiance. We highly recommend Cafe Sado!

My son and I loved the one on kent island but it started to disappoint so we tried chestertown and are in love again. Sushi is our favorite go to. Its a cozy little spot but I believe that they are going to have to upgrade soon to a larger location due to the popularity.

Food wasnt that great; little flavor and not a lot of options. Service was poor. The waiter had no service etiquette. Another gentleman seem to take on more of the role at times than the actual waiter. We also felt as if we werent of importance due to our appearance.

Great Thai dishes and sushi for the area. The sushi is usually excellent with only once the rice being given a little on the dry side. Beautiful atmosphere and ambiance.
