The food and drinks are overpriced and underwhelming. $14.00 for a hamburger - without french fries - is a bit laughable, considering the hamburgers were good but not great. Likewise, the nachos were good, but very expensive. The staff at the back bar is very friendly and attentive. However, the host at the front of the restaurant made my group feel unwelcome and unwanted. Although the front restaurant was empty and remained largely empty during our visit, we were asked to sit at the bar in the back of the restaurant because we didnt have reservations. The front dining area did not fill during our 1.5 hour stay, and I saw no reason why were asked to dine in the back of the restaurant. Part of the low reason for my score is that I did not appreciate the unwelcome pressing by the front area hostess for us to get away from the dining room. Her repeated attempts to push us toward the back of the restaurant made little sense given the lack of patrons in the front area, which, as Ive noted, did not improve throughout the night. Either she was too young and inexperienced to accurately gauge the upcoming crowd and the restaurants ability to handle non-reserved guests (which reflects poorly on the managerial abilities of the @ the Corner staff by allowing someone so inexperienced and unfriendly to welcome guests), or maybe she didnt like the look of my group - too young with a mixed-race same-sex couple in addition to myself and my wife. I cant say for certain why we were pushed to the back - likely the inexperience of the hostess - but, either way, I felt unwelcome and unwanted when I believe my moneys as good as anybodys. In sum, the food is good, but not great. The prices are head-shakingly high. And, while the bar staff is great, the staff at the dining room is unwelcoming. I would recommend taking your money elsewhere.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch on Labor Day. Nice pub atmosphere and not crowded at all. Drinks came promptly, but two sandwich orders took approx 30 minutes to arrive. One order was correct, the other was a completely different order. The waitress walked away not giving us a chance to explain the mistake. We decided to keep the order considering how long the wait time was. A side order was not brought out until we were almost done with our meal at which time we explained the mistake. Apologies were given and the bill was adjusted to reflect the change in price of the meal. Paying the bill proved to be another adventure with no one coming to the table to take our credit card and tab until I rose from my seat to bring the bill to a front counter. The bar tender saw me get up with the folder in my hand and rushed over to take it. Again, apologies offered and we left. Our meals were sandwiches in pub style where faster service is usually the norm and orders are not difficult not elaborate entrees. Cold beer and a sandwich? Not this time.

Four of us recently had dinner At the Corner. The service was friendly and attentive. The table was attractive. I had the honey glazed salmon on risotto which was delicious. The duck and pork chops were also excellent. My husband had steak (wrapped in a pastry - I forgot what it is called). It was okay; he said next time he would try something different. The chocolate cake with the warm chocolate filling was wonderful. The bill (including a bottle of wine and 3 beers) came to about $150. Although there were other diners there, it was quiet and we could easily hear each other speak. (At some restaurants we have to shout so we appreciate it when it is nice and quiet.) We like the atmosphere here. The building is very old and charming. The walls are brick and the lighting is attractive. Lots of appetizing choices on the menu. We are going back next week for a special Christmas dinner with friends.

We tried three items and the dry rub wings. All were very good. The beer selection was extremely good, many local CT brews. They offer a lot of great choices and great information on the menu to help you choose including the Beer Advocate rating. I tried the N.E.B.C.O Fuzzy Baby Ducks ; Double IPA and it was wonderful. The mac and lobster was the weakest of the three, but still good. Wings were very good. The BLT and Hamburger were also great. Meats from local farms; vegetables from local farms. I just went again and really enjoyed their soup the Beef Stroganoff. They really did that well. Plus, my Beef Dip sandwich was great. Good local ingredients not just ready made meals from the Restaurant supply store.

Went here with some friends recently and we came in by the bar, but wanted to get a table in the dining area. The dining area was practically empty when we got there, but the front hostess in the dining area shrugged us off, telling us that the dining area was "booked" and asking if we had checked for seats at the bar. We watched the dining area the whole evening, and it never filled to capacity. Not sure what the problem was, but it left us feeling pretty unwelcome, especially since the dining area had been almost empty when we asked and it never actually filled up. Not sure what happened here, but it made us feel like unwanted/undervalued customers.

The food and drinks here are so unique and delicious! Sometimes the service can be a little slow because they are usually busy but its totally worth the wait. I would suggest the roasted brussel sprouts with cheese and bacon as an appetizer- even if you dont like brussel sprouts you will like these! They are constantly changing their drink and food menus so youre always ordering something different! The atmosphere is dim, cozy, relaxing and romantic despite the restaurant usually being full. If you dont want to have a full on meal you can order from the cafe in the front which has little deserts and coffees and teas. Very quaint!

I live in Litchfield, and @ the Corner is my favorite place in town by far. Ive eaten here a dozen times in the past couple years and never had anything less than a wonderful experience. Sitting in the bar is my favorite, at one of the high-tops with a great view of the world outside, eating pulled pork or fish and chips, drinking a great margarita (they dont do frozen but so what)--restaurants dont get any better than this. Some of the negative reviews of this place on the web mystify me. I have never found it to be anything other than a pleasant, affordable, enjoyable place. Try it and see.

Probably doesnt need to be reviewed since the reputation is already outstanding. Food is amazing, drink selection is great, atmosphere is brilliant with the division of bar and restaurant. Only thing thats lacking is the coffee shop part- the baristas arent trained well, the espresso tastes burnt, the milk drinks arent made properly which is a skill I dont think they care or know to add in. None the less this isnt really a coffee shop so I still give it 5 stars because the restaurant is absolutely outstanding and has great options for all types of eaters including gluten free like myself.

Today was my 2nd time there and I was not disappointed. I had the fish tacos ... delicious! My partner had the braised short ribs; he said he has never had such tender meat. The portion sizes were just right. The waitress was very pleasant; the wait time was reasonable. Overall, I think this is a great place to eat.
