My wife and went to this place in February 2014. The food we had wasnt even edible. I cannot believe people give this place 5 stars. We only ate off the cold menu since its supposed to be sushi after all. We had 5 dishes. House cured salmon, grapefruit and hamachi, Ceviche, tuna tataki and Shiromi. Absolutely awful. Just about threw up trying to get the first bite down. I kept waiting for someone to come out of the bushes and tell me I was on some sort of practical joke show. Honestly, this will be the worst thing you ever eat. Im from Chicago and Ive eaten at the best sushi restaurants the city has to offer. Im still reeling from my experience. You cant even say the food was bad. Its just simply inedible.

This is 2nd visit to Nobuo. Food was good each time. The service was really poor on the second visit. POOR SERVICE. RUDE. The Japanese dining experience is based upon a leisurely sharing of dishes ordered as you go; not all at once. The waitress kept rushing us throughout the evening as if she needed our table, when in fact two adjoing tables remained vacant for the evening. On this visit we used a Local Dines certificate and when she brought the bill told us that beverages were not included: when in fact they are included. The rushed approach and impolite server has eliminated Nuboa from our list of restaurants to recommend.

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT RUDE SERVICE. The employees were super rude. I was sitting at a table that was outside and I noticed the chair was really dirty...So I wanted to exchange chairs to a table that was empty...An Employee then came outside and yelled at me for doing this...Just for switching chairs because one was dirty. It was really rude, but luckly I didnt ordered any food...So I got up and left. I went to the Rose & Crown to get something to eat instead and I got great, friendly service there. I wasnt even able to try the food at The Teeter house...but I am happy I didnt waste my time and money there.

We went for a late lunch on a Sunday and had three small items and two larger items from the menu along with hot teas and a cocktail each. Excellent food and excellent value especially since we live in NYC and this type of food would be at least 60% dearer here! I had the Tofu Tots, soft-shell crab sandwich with side slaw and a tea (the tea was great). Recommended and if ever back in the area will go back.

My wife and I tried both trading menus with the wine flights. The food was on point and the wine paired perfectly. The separate rooms allow for a really intimate setting, but can get a little loud if you wind up sitting next to a group. Couldnt ask for nicer staff. Overall this is a great place to experience some of the best non-typical Japanese style food that you will find anywhere in Arizona.

OMK...omakase! This quaint little gem is in a small historical district in the heart of Phoenix, not easy to find. Nobu is a masterful gem in an old charming house convertedinto an amazing Japanese restaurant. My trip to this city has been worthwile all because of Nobus small plates and a little Italian bistros pasta. I will absolutely return here during my next business trip.

Stopped in here for dinner on a Sunday night while in PHX. Probably the best Japanese (non-sushi) restaurant Ive even been to! Every dish was delectable and prepared perfectly. My favorites included the sea bass and the foie gras. Do not miss a chance to visit this hidden gem...you will not be disappointed!

The food was unique and exceptional - bite-sized culinary excursions, where each dish offers something new and different. Our server was very helpful in selecting menu items and helping us navigate the drink menu. Its a bit pricey, but absolutely worth the quality of sensory experience that youll receive here.

Over rated junk food. This was so bad and so tasteless that we had to go across the street to eat pizza. After spending $88. Its amazing that the sheep keep talking this place up. James Beard is the next JD Power award, everyone has one and there is nothing special about it. Good Luck

The food is phenomenal. Japanese fare at its finest. Otherwise, its a bit expensive given the portions so expect a hefty bill if youre going to eat until youre full. The service is pretty good but not to the level youd expect given the quality of the food and how expensive it is.

The service here is not very good first off. Went on Friday night and both ladies were not very friendly at all. The food was very good but not worth the price paid. I expect more from a meal if I pay almost 200 for it. Three stars for the good food.

This was an unusual place for me to go, but my wife and I wanted to try something new. It wasnt quite what we had originally expected. But the service was really good and the staff was very nice. Wish I enjoyed the food a little bit more.

Nobuo is a culinary experience, not a typical restaurant. If you understand that going in and can spend the money its worth it. The carpaccio was a delicious highlight. However even knowing that, the prices were still a bit over the top.

Went during restaurant week. Really great selection of small bites as part of a prix fixe. I like that the restaurant retains the room divisions from the original house guaranteeing an intimate, almost private, experience for diners.

Excellent but expensive. A nice little jewel in Phoenix. Very unique and creative dishes that you wont find anywhere else. All plates are sharing plates, and come out one or two at a time. Fun and the food is beautifully presented.

sure the food is good. it would be above avg. in SF w/ the price tag to match. unfortunately it took 45m for only 2 dishes to come out and i didnt have the patience to wait another 2hrs for the remaining dishes.

Who puts egg salad on top of fried chicken? Who grills lettuce? The food makes no sense. The chef doesnt have an artistic soul. For the price, I expected more thought to go into the food.

Top notch service and authentic Japanese cuisine makes Nobuo a downtown must. Lunch specials are dynamite, but you should also consider dinner if youre in the area.

okonomiyaki is some of the best in town... also some of the only okonomiyaki in town. nobuos omakase dinner is one of the best dinners in town if you can afford it.

One of my favorite Japanese restaurant in town. The Freshness of the food they serve was a gem. It was a fabulous and great experience dining in here.

Horrendous portion sizes for the price you pay, if you want to feel completely gouged for a plate full of snacks its just where you need to go.

I loved my dinner with many small tastes and a sampling of shochu. The converted house makes all of the spaces feel intimate and comfortable.

Okay place - the atmosphere was fine; the food not hugely memorable, but the surrounding area is enjoyable to walk around or sit and enjoy.

Hamachi with grapefruit and the yellowtail dishes were delicious! Clams and lamb were not that great. Nice service and ambience.
