HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called in and placed an order on my lunch break for four rolls. They told me 15 minutes so I waited the full 15 minutes and went to go pick it up. It wasnt ready when I got there and I waited an additional 15 minutes until they were done (OK not THAT big of a deal). I didnt check my food when I left thinking in the 15 minutes I sat there that the order would be right. Nevertheless, it wasnt. I called them back to let them know one of my rolls was forgotten. I let them know I had already gotten my shrimp tempura. When I drove back there was a shrimp tempura on the counter. I let the girl working there (Ashley) know I had already gotten that roll (I wasnt sure who I had spoken to on the phone). She just looked at me and said in a snotty voice "Umm no, thats not right". She then looked at my ticket and proceeded to tell me that I hadnt gotten the shrimp tempura yet and that I was wrong. She just kept saying "uuummmm, are you suuure?" Yes, Im sure. She did nothing to resolve the situation, I had to sit and argue with her to get the roll that I paid for. COMPLETELY unprofessional. Its too bad. The food was great but the service is ridiculous. I dont care how good it was I will NEVER eat there again.

If youre idea of sushi is a tempura roll, you may like this place. Otherwise, its just okay. Ive been here a few times. Its typically fine, long wait times, prices are a little high for the quality. Tonights visit was pretty terrible. We wont be back. Visit took about 1 hour 30 min after we were seated. We were given an order of Edamame since our appetizer was taking so long, which was nice until they charged us for it. Asked for straws that were never brought. Wasabi and ginger arrived about 10 min after per first order of sushi was delivered. Long delays on water refills. About half of the nigiri tasted pretty fishy. Server asked if we wanted split checks and when we asked for it to be split in two, she said so all together, right? Then she had to redo the checks twice since they werent split correctly and had charged us for the Edamame we didnt order. Spoke to a manager. He didnt seem to care much, but did apologize. If you want good sushi, try Takashi.

Since my initial review, Ive come back to Tsunami probably like 40 times. Ive been here that many times because I love sushi and have been to like 80 percent of all the other sushi restaurants in Salt Lake and the Tsunami locations are consistently top ranking locations. They have an array of fresh rolls, and even though Im not a fan of tempura, their tempura rolls are light and airy enough that Ill order them here every once in a while. The service is great, the location is clean, and even when theyre packed and theres a wait, its usually fairly quick. Plus, you can make reservations online if its the weekend and usually they have a spot open within an hour of making the reservation. I say skip all the 50% off joints that you see popping up all over and go to one of the three Tsunami locations...unless youre downtown and going to Takashi, then thats not a bad bet either. I love Tsunami. Get the KP.

I went in there on Saturday Feb. 25, 2012. No only was our service terrible, I got the wrong roll. Our waitress did not check up on us. We asked for forks because we had ordered a chicken meal. She never came back with forks. Also, the chicken was soooo dry. If she would have came back to check on us, we would have let her know. It was also cold when it was served to us. I ordered the Tsunami roll and ended up with the Sunshine roll. It was horrible. I also over heard the table next to us ask where their Sunshine roll was. I didnt realize that I received the Sunshine roll until after I got home and looked up the rolls. I hated that roll and was grossed out by it. I would not recommend Tsunami to anyone. They were not even busy! No excuse for this service.

I have friends in California and Vegas to visit us in Utah. We are very concerned about drinking water every day. We only drink Alkaline water. I invited them to Tsunami restaurant. The restaurant does not serve Alkaline water. And the names manager Rob did not let us bring Alkaline water to drink with the Big diner. Because we can not drink Tab water and he refused to serve us and kick us out ??? Oh ! man. I couldnt believe it the Manager Rob is managing is too lenient and doesnt know how to handle a small thing !!! Even I am a Tsunami VIP DINER and come to eat this restaurant often with Angela server in Tsunami and always have my own Alkaline water for my family. She is the best waitress!

Weve been to Tsunami many many times at the River Park location. We love the location, the service, and most of all the food. It is has become our go-to sushi restaurant in Utah. Four years ago we moved to Utah from San Francisco and thought we were giving up on good sushi because of the move. We have been surprised that it not only has fresh fish flown in daily, but that it equals in quality some of the best places we frequented in the SF Bay Area. I also appreciate that they have a full gluten-free menu and GF soy sauce for those of us who are celiacs. If we could just get one in Utah County now...heck, Id be willing to buy franchise rights to do so!

Six out of five! This is my FAVORITE restaurant in the SLC area, hands down. They just have it all going for them- incredible food (fresh, quality, and a lot of variety on their menu) and amazing service. My ex-husband of 10 years worked in fine dining, including a sushi restaurant, so Im quite picky about food and service. Tsunami never disappoints. Also, if youre not a big sushi fan, have no fear! They have a wide array of food items for non-fish eaters (high-quality steak, teriyaki chicken, tempura-friend vegetables, just to name a few example). Many thanks to the amazing management and staff. Keep up the good work!

My husband and I went on a dinner date here about a month ago. Ive heard fabulous reviews from co-workers and friends, and I must say that our experience definitely lived up to those wonderful remarks! We loved the sushi it was really fresh and they had such a variety of options available. Our server was extremely kind and I wish I could have wrote down her name to include it in our review. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and helpful with our orders. There was a little bit of a wait outside, but Im sure that could be avoided by calling ahead. I strongly recommend Tsunami for a date night! :)

We were traveling through on business and came here at 10 pm for sushi. We get sushi for dinner every day when we travel several times a month and this is the best Ive had in a really long time. Who would have thought Salt Lake City of all places would have such great rolls?!? Were from the Pacific Northwest and have eaten many places all over Washington, Oregon, and Idaho and we were seriously impressed. Great service, GREAT food, and prices were super reasonable (compared to Oregon and Washington). Totally coming back when we do the SLC show again next year.
