Never had the chance to taste their food or see how fresh the fish was. I walked out. The service was terrible. The waitress/cashier couldnt be bothered to lift her head to make eye contact when I walked in. I sat at the sushi bar where again I was not greeted. I waited for someone to take my order. The waitress finally came over to me. She seemed distracted by my asking for a menu. I placed my order and I sat. I sat for 40 minutes when another waitress came by and asked if I was being helped. When told that I put in my order with the other waitress she asked who it was. As I looked around I saw her sitting at a table in the main dining room eating her dinner. We both walk over to her. When asked about my order she claimed to have put it in. Clearly she did not follow through. Her own dinner was more important. I have worked in the food service industry and was never allowed to eat in the dining room during business hours. Management is the problem here. They allowed this to happen and they are the ones that hired this waitress. I have since found other sushi restaurants in the Phoenix area that are professionally run. take

First sushi place Id ever been to when I was 12. I loved this place. I would drive 30 miles just to go to this place because their sushi was so awesome. They were way better than any other place I had been too. I havent been here in a couple years and when my girlfriend and I showed up Saturday they had done some remodeling to the place. I liked the old set up better than the ugly modern makeover but whatever, as long as the sushi was still awesome. This place has always been on the pricier side for sushi but I didnt care because it was so good. I dunno if they changed ingredients to the way they prepare their rolls or if its the new chefs but I can tell that the quality of the fish has gone down, nothing tasted the same and the rolls used to be prepared better. It was so disappointing and Im sad to say that I wont be coming here again. The prices are too high for the quality and its too far away. Wish they hadnt changed anything at all.

Great variety of rolls. If this is your first time heading out be prepared for an EXTENSIVE menu, two of them in fact. I went for lunch on a Friday, and arrived around 11:30. Plan on an hour plus if youre leaving work. I did have to eventually get up and walk to the register as we were getting short on time. I thought the sushi was good, not great, but good. The thing I found most off putting was the temperature of the rolls. I have never experience this before, but they were absolutely room temperature. This came off as warm compared to what I am used to. I think usually the fish, crab mix, and anything not cooked has a little chill to it. Not a deal breaker but it was strange and I personally didnt care for it. All in all it is worth checking out. You will be able to find a roll here that fits your taste no matter what you are into, just be prepared to peruse a couple pages filled back to front to find it.

The only ding I have for this spot was the service to be seated. Granted, they were busy turning tables, but we werent acknowledged by staff until a table was ready. The place is much smaller than it appears outside. The staff was friendly, and the menu was quite large with a distinct focus on sushi and sushi combos. I have nothing but great things to say about the food and the price. I was here celebrating a birthday with 4 adults and 2 children total. The food was quickly served and the food was phenomenal. My favorite was the salmon combo with rice, salad, miso soup, and a few pieces of sushi and sashimi.

Love this place. I cant stop calling it by its former name, Mr. Sushi. I have been frequenting this place for 30 years and it is outstanding every time. I like traditional sushi and the fish is always fresh here. Salmon is my favorite, but tuna and yellowtail are also fabulous. The Dynamite salad is HUGE, but theyll let you order a half dynamite and you will likely share that with others, too. A fantastic remodel and expansion recently occurred here, so I am glad theyre doing well and I will continue to patronize this awesome restaurant!

I go past this place once a week twice in a day . Looks small from the outside, once you walk in . You see it is a nice size sushi bar . With tables if you have a good or just dont like to watch you sushi being prepared. I ordered to go, in the rush of dinner . I was told about 40 minutes, I had ordered some cooked food as well . It took maybe about 20 minutes max . The sushi was amazing , I ordered teriyaki chicken as well. The chicken was cooked so well , juicy and tender. I cant wait to go again and try something different.

Favorite sushi spot in Arizona! The sushi chefs here are the best! So friendly and really care about their customers. One of the only sushi spots that not only has hundreds of options for rolls but are willing to whip up whatever your heart desires! They have the best fish quality and always have something random and new on the menu. The sushi rice is the best you can get so soft and warm. The service is always on point. Even though I live all the way in SF I will be back everytime I visit in Arizona. Love you Mr. Sushi!!!

This is not Koi and dont expect any of the bloated extravagance that comes with it. Akaihana is a reasonably priced local sushi restaurant and bar. This is my familys #1 sushi spot. The staff is super friendly, the food is great, and the food is reasonably priced. Ive been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience or off-tasting fish. Some crazy invented rolls take a while to prepare. Ive only had the sushi, sashimi, and tempura here. I cant comment on the lunch or dinner plates.

No matter where else I go in Phoenix or any other city, no one can beat the freshness, the variety and the price value of this place. My favorites on the "special" menu are Viva Eyda and Sophia. When I bring newcomers, they are always impressed with their unique Las Vegas. I will always love and recommend Alaska, Sakura, Caterpillar, and many others depending on your fish preference and mood. Dont forget to check out their dinner entrees, appetizers and happy hours! **Ill post more pics later!

I was not overly impressed by this restaurant. I had the beef lunch special, and it was cooked to the point of being leather. It felt like I was eating jerky. My girlfriend got the chicken though, which was much better. The miso soup, on the other hand, was quite flavorful. Service was just average, but it was during the lunch hour. As convenient as this place is to where I work, I wanted to like it. The food just isnt good enough for me to want to go back.
