This raw diamond is well hidden in Sheffield, AL. and if you like sushi, youll be pleasantly surprised! They recently updated the exterior and the sign at the road really helps not to miss out this fantastic Japanese cuisine. The sushi menu is fabulous, with reasonable prices and lot of photos of specialty rolls. There is also a lunch and dinner menu with steak, shrimp and chicken dishes. Full service with helpful and friendly staff, a sushi bar and limited available seating. However, the owner is planning on updating and extending the dining area in 2017, including hibachi grill. The sushi was very tasty and fresh, presentation is fabulous and the yakutori (appetizer) just perfect. Even though this area is not known for good sushi restaurants, this one is absolutely outstanding and worth every penny. Sushi is not my favorite food, but you definitely will taste the pride and passion that the owners put in their food and service.

Adundance of food our server Josh was friendly and helpful. Drinks refilled before half gone. Not sure taste yet but, so far happy with service and how food looks and smells.... Ok sushi yummy the rest could be better. Broclii over and under cooked and honey chicken had odd taste... the other plate with fried food and 2 typed chicken. There was no complaint on it. If come its definitely a sushi spot the rest for price left something to be desired. Ask for Josh he is carismatic and fun and trys to make sure all questions answered and every ones satisfied. I give 4 because Josh the awesome server took the honey chicken off bill.. said name...ichiban means #1 and if not satisfied will try to make sure customers are satisfied... when I crave sushi Ill be coming back and hopefully Josh will be here..

Ive ate here a few times. The first time I tho the place might be closed by the looks of the out side but was told, no, you have to go in and try the food, so we went in and sat down. Our server came over to great us, he looked to not be the, part. I have to tell ya I have traveled the world and ate at some great places and none had food like this place, the service was second to none, great atmosphere if you not a snob. We went back today after about 4 months from the first visit, Im a truck driver and not in this town much or would be here at least once a week, they have fixed up the outside and have done a lot to the looks of the place to match the great food and service . They said that they are still working on making it better. I cant wait to come back next time to see. Love this place.

Ive been going to Ichiban since around 2010 and have never had a bad experience. I almost always get the sushi. They have some of the best in the area, especially for the price. The quality is great and the sushi has a nice, rich flavor rather than the bland taste that some lower-cost restaurants have. The staff is usually friendly, though sometimes the service can be a bit slow. If you work nearby this is a good place to go to lunch, but if you have to travel more than 10 minutes or so (and you have an hour for lunch like myself) youre probably going to be late getting back. Good place to go for dinner though. Not usually very crowded so its often quiet.

I have eaten sushi coast to coast in the United States. I have never had more delicious sushi than I found at Ichiban! It is fresh, beautiful plated, and served in the most helpful, friendly manner. Everyone that works there are friendly and ready to answer any questions you might have. Their miso soup is also pleasing and delicious. The bento boxes for children are perfect and served in a way that even the pickiest eater will find something to entice their appetite. This restaurant is conveniently located near Keller Hospital in Sheffield, AL. Dont miss it!

The worst service Ive ever experienced. Didnt seem to have a set waiter the whole time, placed our order and waited 25 minutes before the girl who took our order realized she forgot to put it in, we were not checked on the whole time. I thought it was just us but saw the table seated by us waited 20 minutes before finally getting up to see if anyone was going to greet their table. Pricy for the small portions and not that great of sushi. Worst of all it was incredibly slow, I cant even imagine how it is when busy. Would never recommend.

My family has enjoyed sushi for decades, in many different states and at varied price points. This is not only the best for the price, but I have aid much more for less quality. The wait staff is friendly, not pushy or hard to find. The interior is so clean that the greenery in the bathroom is dust free. Do NOT let the plain exterior fool you, this restaurant is clean, the foods high quality, fresh and beautifully prepared. The deep fried cheesecake is decadent and large enough to share. We will be back often.

Great food! But the atmosphere is just so-so. The owners allow their small children to run around and talk to guests--which is fine if you know ahead of time but if youre on a date with the wife and want since quality time with minimal interruptions, this is probably not the best place to go. The last time we were there, it was a party of 12. It took them an hour and a half to get our food to the table. We still had a great time and were in no hurry and the food was good but that was really unacceptable.

I wish I could give this place more than the 5 stars allowed. Absolutely the best sushi you will have anywhere. Jacky Cai, the owner usually makes it to your table to ask how is everything. I have eaten there over 50 times and I have never been disappointed. The freshest of fresh ingredients. Really if you are from out of town and think "Sushi??? Alabama???" YES the best sushi is in Sheffield, AL.

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The staff is so kind, and I would suggest anything off of there menu. It is truly a gem of the shoals. As for anybody who complains about the small children in the dining area, they are well behaved and an absolute delight, and in no way negatively influenced the dining experience.

This place is kind of a hole in the wall. The sushi is some of the best I have had anywhere. It is artfully arranged and delicious. The fish is the freshest and most delicious I have ever had. It is a family run place that is very welcoming. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Ichiban head always been my favorite Asian restaurant in the Shoals. Now I like others too, but Ichiban is #1. Now that they have cook- in - front - of - you hibachi theyre even better. The hibachi is as much fun as any Ive been to, and still the Shoals best sushi.

If you are a sushi fan this is THE place in the Shoals to get your fix! If youve never tried sushi this is also THE place to do that! Doesnt look like much on the outside but there is true talent and awesome sushi inside!
