This place is very OK. I was on my way to Missouri when I got hit with a sudden craving some good Japanese food, so I looked up the closest place and found ROPPONGI. Driving up to the building, at first I thought it was closed based on the darkly-tinted windows and a few dead bushes along the side. Turned out they didnt have any customers and were about to end their Friday lunch shift. I was greeted by a very nice woman who took my carry-out order of hibachi grilled filet-mignon (medium, of course), fried rice and the usual vegetables, soup and salad, just like every other homogenized, Japanese-style restaurant. The bill came out to just under $40 including the standard 20% tip, and the order came up in 15 minutes, which was great. So far so good. I started with the salad, which was really just a bit of lettuce cut off the head and MAYBE 2 strands of carrots...thats IT. Of course, the dressing is almost always good at these places which definitely helped with the flavor, otherwise it would have been just a styrofoam box of flavorless lettuce. Next was the soup which had two very small, dime-sized mushroom slices and nothing else in addition to the broth. I hate mushrooms so this was totally fine, but my wife would have been pissed. The broth itself was great, so really no complaints there. The fried rice was a tad mushy which I did not like, and there were quite a few onions, which even at 42 Im still trying to decide how I feel about them...basically neutral, I guess. Overall, the rice was below average due to consistency, but the flavor was ok.The noodles were also a tad mushy, but had a decent flavor and the vegetables were borderline OK, as well...good flavor but seemed also mushy (noticing a pattern?). As for the steak, this was the most disappointing part of the meal and the part I was most looking forward to. It was cooked medium-well but still very tender and easy to chew, as filet should be. The meat itself seemed dry, however, and tasted like it was in desperate need of steak sauce if some kind, which should NEVER be the case for a properly cooked steak, especially filet (if you cannot eat a steak without steak sauce, youre doing it wrong). Of all the Japanese restaurants Ive been to, this one definitely hits the bottom of my list. I gave 3 stars because the service was good and the price was reasonable and came out quickly. Although, the more I think about it, the more I wonder if some of this food hadnt been sitting out for a few hours and ended up being served to me rather than thrown out. I guess thats harsh, but the consistently "mushy" pattern gave me a "this has been sitting around a while" feeling. Maybe I just got unlucky and would fare better during a peak time or had I sat at the grill.

The only reason its not 5-stars is because the wait staff was very slow. Granted, it was fairly busy and there were only a few hosts... not a big deal, unless you drink quickly lol. Other than that, it was wonderful! The atmosphere was great and intimate, the chef at the hibachi grill was cheery and professional, and the food was excellent! They even make hibachi noodles, which I recommend. And its all worth the price, which isnt insane! Overall, I loved it and would make a second trip :)

I seem to come here every other week. The sushi I get here is excellent! I normally stick to what I know since they dont have photos to see what the actually sushi look like but Ive taken some blind guesses and have had some interesting flavors. I havent had the hibachi dinner show but I think thats whats what I am going to do next. I love bringing new people here because I like coming here so much. Overall this is a good place to come for sushi.

I visited here for dinner while on a business trip and I couldnt have had a better experience. I sat at the sushi bar with a coworker and we were treated very well. The sushi chef was very friendly and made very good sushi rolls. We liked this restaurant so much we decided to go back the next day for lunch! It was a little expensive, but dont let that turn you away. The experience and the quality is definitely worth it.

The sushi was very fresh and delicious. We went on Mothers Day and even though the place was full, they did their best to bring our dinner in a timely manner. I love how the sushi chef comes himself to bring the plates and later comes to check on you. The waitress on the other hand almost forgot our appettizer (we had to remind her), but besides that it was great.

I live in Evansville and this is the by far the best sushi place to eat around. Always a pleasure to eat here. We have never had a bad experience here and everyone we introduce to Roppongi it becomes their favorite sushi bar as well. The hibachi is good as well, clean, good service. Price is a little higher than most...but nothing great ever comes cheap.

Fantastic. Sushi was very good. Husband and I both had the hibachi combo dinner $26. Portions were perfect and the quality was above average. Sushi, two dinners and 5 drinks were $100 but definitely worth it. Menu had many options besides hibachi. Sushi quality was good and wed return just for sushi and the appetizers; a less expensive meal for two.

Clean, inviting, great service, decent food, excellent sushi. The ONLY negative point I can see is that you dont get much for your money. Granted, any hibachi-type Japanese steakhouse is going to be on the higher end of the price grid, but you typically walk out with a to-go box. Seems you get a little less for what you pay at this restaurant.

Had dinner there on 02/10/17. Had the Roppongi Special, it was AWESOME !! maybe a little pricey, but I ordered some extra with the meal. Fast, friendly service from my waiter named Nicholas, who was very up on the menu since I had never eaten at a Japanese restaurant before, will definitely return, AWESOME PLACE....

The best sushi in Evansville. The first time I came here I got a roll with a pile of tempura on top and for the life of me I cant remember what the roll was called... but it was delicious! Guess Ill have to go back multiple times and order a different roll each time until I find it again...

Went there for my bday dinner, the gyoza and sushi roll I had were great (red bull). Best of all was our chef and server, chef made great food while being an absolute riot, and our server kept the drinks full. Best of all, fried bananas and ice cream for free because it was my bday dinner.

The manager is terribly rude to teenegers. We have had a reservations on multiple occasion yet we will have to wait 30+ minutes past the time to be sat. The quality of food is excellent but overpriced. Overall I wouldnt recommend due to their demeaning tone towards us.
