This place as NOSE DIVED into chain sushi hell. I cant believe I ever liked this place. Sooo I hadnt been here in a while. Theyve changed the menu & removed my beloved Atlantic roll?! The similar roll costs $3.00 more than my already-expensive-for-chain-restaurant-sushi Atlantic roll. Waiter unapologetic & doesnt offer to have them make me an Atlantic anyway. Hmm....The W Lakeshore makes my calamari even though its off the menu. Hell Cheesecake Factory makes my bruschetta even though ITS off the menu. I order shrimp tempura roll & calamari app. Waiter gets order wrong; doesnt apologize. Gives wrong order back to sushi chef (I use "Chef" loosely) and tells him to "sell it to someone else". Shrimp tempura worse than mediocre. Bad rice. Ginger wasnt fresh. "Crab" not real crab. Its some kind of weird room-temperature imitation ewwwiness ( just made that word up). "Calamari" served...well its cheaper, greaser, unstrained second cousin dressed in wasabi powder? Check please. Guy brings check. Sees that I left all the calamari on the plate. Doesnt ask to wrap it up and doesnt ask why I am a clearly disgusted with this place. Keeps calling me Dear like Im his little sister. Boooo on you RA! You suck!! I will never ever evvvvver return.

I walk in for lunch and sit at the bar, the only one sitting there. Restaurant is not even half full. Every person working in the restaurant proceeds to just walk by me and completely ignore me for more than 10 minutes, I got up and walked out and had lunch down the street. As my business is a block away, I dine here quite a bit. The sushi is average, as I would expect of a chain restaurant. What I dont expect is such poor service. I need to be in and out during lunch to get back to work. It seems to be the common element with chains, a lot of people standing around instead of doing the job they are paid for. Obviously, my future business is not desired, nor any of our company business. Is there a manager on duty that is even the least bit competent? How do you let a customer sit there for that long without acknowledging them, shouldnt the hostess have told someone rather than smile and walk by. The service here has never been great, but this is an all-time low. Too many good sushi restaurants in Chicago to deal with this.

Heard good things about other RA Sushi locations from my friends who have visited the Miami & Texas locations so i was obviously pumped to have me some sushi. The food was alright a little overpriced, Now lets talked about the service or should i say lack of service WORST.CUSTOMER.SERVICE.EVER! Our server who will not be named was just SO RUDE. We had to put up with his attitude all night, he treated us like he had better things to do, he wasnt helpful at all when asking for recommendations ("I cant recommend anything theres too many items on the menu" THERE REALLY ISNT) and Im sure if he could his eyes wouldve been jammed at all the eye rolling he couldve done if allowed. So disappointed my first sushi experience in Chicago was such a bust!

The light was so dim it was hard to read the menu. I had to use the street lights in order to read the menu. Thank goodness I was sitting next to the window. Ordered an appetizer but it didnt come out until we already finished all the sushi and had been waiting for 15 minutes. Had the spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, and viva las vegas roll. Happy hour these rolls range from $6-9. Food overall is mediocre. It all tasted the same, with overuse of spicy mayo in each roll. It is an okay place to go if you havent had sushi in a long time and just need a sushi fix. Otherwise there are better sushi restaurants. Gave a 3 star because didnt have a negative experience. Didnt hate it but didnt love it.

Ive eaten at RA Sushi twice. The first time I was unimpressed because I was expecting a nicer environment, considering its location. Its very dark with garish red accents, and they blast pop music. The food was okay, but no one in there is Japanese, and the entire menu is frankensteined, americanized rolls, and what they like to call "asian fusion." I went back for a quick bite with my mother and again it just wasnt the right choice. The food was okay, but I guess Im just not part of the demographic they are targeting. Go here if youre more into the bar scene than the sushi experience.

Love their happy hour specials from 4-7pm, but i find that most of their specialty sushi is just a california roll with different toppings. The menu is also a little confusing and I wish it was laid out differently. My absolute favorite is the mango lobster roll! It is the best rolll on the menu. The Vegas roll and Tootsie maki are also awesome. If you have a big group, make sure to come early because the music gets louder over the course of the night and you cant hear people across the table. Check out this place and definately get the Mango Lobster roll!

Delicious Food! And if you go during their happy hour, youd get the delicious food for discounted prices! We had 4 plates and left completely full and satisfied without having to spend too much. We had the Ra-king shrimp which had a kicking sauce, the short-ribs, the Las Vegas (best roll ever! with shrimp tempura) and a calamari roll. It didnt automatically come out with wasabi, which i found weird for a sushi place, but aside from that service was great. There are plenty of tables, and sitting at the bar is also a good option.

Dining on sushi at the bar was fun. This place was buzzing the night I was there, with lengthy waits for tables. The menu has a huge selection of rolls. The one downside if the barkeeps that night seemed mystified by the order of a gin martini. They were not sure what gins they stocked (none were on the liquor back of the bar), and when they made the drink it came out very watery because they shook it violently. So, best to go with Sapporo or Saki next time. (Visited April 17, 2015)

If I want food poisoning, then this is your place! This restaurant isnt even remotely allergy friendly & our waiter is completely incompetent! Because of his lack of concern, ignorance of dish ingredients & refusal to inform the kitchen of customers severe food allergy, I was extremely ill & bordering on hospitalization for 5 days following my visit! After I reported it to the corporate office, they never returned my call or made any attempts to make up for the incident.

This place has the greatest suhi roll of all time: Las Vegas Roll - yummy! And pretty much all of their appetizers are A+. Other reasons to give it a try include the happy hour where are a lot of items are discounted, even their best dishes that include shrimp and the super delicious Las Vegas Roll. If you are on their mailing list they will send you coupons, like $10 off $20 for your half birthday, which IS combine-able with the happy hour specials for a great deal.

This place has mediocre sushi. I ordered 4 rolls and an appetizer. Good sushi is based on good rice (shari) and their shari here is lacking. The service can also use improvement. In fact, Im writing this review while waiting over 10 mins for the check when the tables are less than half full. I know service will vary depending on your waiter/waitress but I would not come back because of the sushi alone.
