Let me write a proper review for this place since there seems to be many half-assed ones for this restaurant. Lets establish a couple things about my appetite before I review. First of all im from Hawaii so my palate could be cited as being biased. Secondly Ive been eating L and L for years in Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Reno so I enjoy the chain overall. I ordered the Kahlua Pig and Lau Lau. Like I usually do. But Ive tried just about everything. The Lau Lau tasted very yummy and arrived at my table piping hot. The Kahlua Pig was yummy (especially when I paired it with some chili paste and barbeque sauce). I ordered my meal with a scoop of rice and the macaroni salad. I enjoyed my meal overall. Very yummy and a comfort food to be. The service is chill. Theres really not much to it. You pay and order. Then your food is ready and the customer is called up 50% of the time to pick it up themselves (sometimes they will bring the order to the table your are sitting at). Its a family owned business and both the owners are fairly personable. Once I even asked for my eggs to be basted. (which im sure most of you dont know what that cooking technique is), but they made it. They usually hire cashiers from UNR to support students. Naturally like every establishment there is room for improvement. I do think their service could get a little more friendly and personable to the customer. I personally would like to see more healthy meals come from L and L to represent Hawaiian culture, but thats just one mans dream.

Excellent rating overall! New owner. Disregard all comments prior to purchase by this new owner. Prices have increased slightly but still need to be reflected in the takeout menu and menu on the board, despite the disclaimer "prices subject to change without notice" .Owner has not done this yet. They have Hawaiian shaved ice now. Outstanding customer service from Monique & the very impressive manager who corrected a problem promptly w/o me having to complain about it. I ordered something worth about $12 & did not realize I incorrectly tipped over $100...since they had a new machine I was not used to.The store manager called me the next morning,, said the transaction had unfortunately been processed to my credit card. but he had put in an envelope for me to pick up the overpayment due to the credit card error. I was so impressed!!!!! I went back repeatedly during the days following as a Thank You and even ordered a big takeout order.I left my bag during one of the times I was there and they kept it for me. Honesty is good business!!!. This company deserves my business and I will keep coming back and recommending it to friends and family.

Born and raised in Hawaii, I always eat at L & L.. Ive eaten at this location for years, even when the previous owners Chris and Kiki still owned and ran the business. They were the best!! Always took care of their customers, their employees all were the friendliest including the local girl who works at the counter. I believe her name is Monique, she is the only one who knows the true meaning of Aloha, til now since the new owners took over. Weve been going there for years and she remembers my family and what we order, she should be the face of L & L Reno. The whole counter staff should take notes from her because theyre all young, and need to be taught the true meaning of the Aloha spirit and hospitality! Moniques great service and hospitality is what keeps us coming back!! We give her 10

First off Ive eaten L&Ls in a few different states but the one here I Reno their Chicken Katsu is very dry I thought it was just that one time but the second time I ate their it was the same horrible experience DRY!!! Its suppose to be juicy.Second their customer service is terrible young kids with attitude thats the job you chose so be thankful and smile ... When I was there around 8:50pm I called to order my food to go knowing they close at 9:00pm and the little girl I spoke to had a negative attitude saying " well I cant take your order if your not here within 5 minutes " then I get to the place and the phones ringing and the workers were like "dont answer dont take anymore orders we have 5 minutes till we out " terrible workers and service

We are so excited that theres L&L in Reno. First time, we visit they ran out of curry, service was okay. Second time, chicken barbacue was under cook, workers complaining they are so tired, and waited for awhile for our food. Today, we gave it another try, we waited for our food for 30 minutes and they are not busy. Kind of sloppy, the foam container that they put the food was oily and theres fingers marks. Saimin was very oily as well. We said thank you to the lady who brought our food to our table but she didnt say anything and walked away. Being from Hawaii, this L&L is a big disappointment! We will never go back!!!

The food is good but the service is awful. The manager is obnoxious! She stands behind the counter with her arms crossed and stares you down throughout your meal. I'm not quite sure why she is always so angry. Don't ever complain about anything. She will rip you to pieces by raising her voice and humiliating you! What ever happened to "The customer is right"? In summary the food is not good enough to put up with this lady at the Mae Ann location in Reno!!

Placed an order was told rice was out as their rice cooker was broken, gave other options for sides but wanted rice.. and waited for over 30 min to get our food! Frusterated. How can you run out of something that is a main item to your entrée? Food is is good but staff was lost, and I over herd they wanted an employee to go to safeway to get more fries. Really?!? Who does not know how to budget. Rediculious!! Ready to ask for money back and walk out

Food is good, sweet and high in calories. If you like Hawaiian BBQ, no better place in Reno. Word of warning: they are on Hawiian time, which means that they are not fast or even moderately quick. Plan to spend some time waiting for your food. If they are busy, bring a book. Ma favorite meal is the BBQ combo, its got one of every signature BBQ item. I recommend this if you are trying L&L for the first time.

Can I give it zero stars? Ever since new management has taken over, the quality of the food has went downhill tremendously. Not to mention portion size. Youre now lucky to get more than two paper thin "pieces" of BBQ chicken. And if youre in a hurry, this shouldnt be your go to place. Expect to wait at least 30 minutes until its ready; just to be disappointed in two thinly sliced cold pieces of chicken.

A friend and I had lunch today, he had Chicken Katsu and I had Chicken Katsu Curry, both mini meals. When our order was brought to the table, I couldnt believe all the food!! We both brought leftovers home since there was so much.. Im a curry fanatic, the smell and taste was delicious and all the staff was very nice.. My review, I will definitely be back and Ill try the Shrimp Curry next.. Aloha!!
