I have eaten at five star restaurants around the world, as well as hole-in-the-wall dives in small towns. No matter where I go, one thing is clear: good food does not have to be expensive, it just has to be well-prepared. (Five Guys Burgers in Washington DC is a perfect example of this.) Unfortunately, OSF does not appear to understand this concept. The starter "salad" clearly just came out of a bag with no alteration whatsoever -- come on people, can you even TRY to spruce it up?? The marinara sauce on my entree looked and tasted like someone just held a can of the stuff directly over my plate and let it slide onto the plate. I also tried the dish of my guest (chicken alfredo), and I did a better job of making that dish on my first attempt at home. Based on our visit, I can only conclude that no-one in the OSF kitchen actually cooks anything (or maybe even knows how to). Everything tasted like it was frozen, processed, and/or pre-made. People who say the food is "great" here really need to get out more and try new places. Oh, and to our waiter who tried to take away dinner mid-meal (to "get you a box for that?") before even asking if we were done, please, learn your trade... you will get better tips that way.

There is only one reason why this doesnt get 100% satisfaction. While we were waiting the manager continually ignored me and my date. Just an acknowledgment that we existed would have been nice. The scenery looks about like a vintage New York 1930s Italian restaurant, but, not for a quiet evening out. It gets quite loud on a saturday night. However, I am sure that with the upper class uniforms of the waiters and staff, with the "Special Occasion" wine list any weekday could become a nice quiet evening. On to the main reason why anyone goes to The Old Spaghetti Factory, the food. You get large portions for the price and any meal comes with a regular drink, bread while you wait and dessert. All of which you have a reasonable amount of choices to choose from. They have an extensive wine list, before you get to the "Special Occasion" list and also a plethora of dinner choices as well. Everything from soup to large salads to, all your favorite, typical, italian dishes. Overall a great place and will be glad to go back our waiter really gave us a good send off to fix the sour start we had to our night.

Poor. Told it would be 10 minutes so we went and waited in the bar and ordered a glass of wine so I can have it with dinner. 10 minutes past and I wasnt worried about it so we asked the bartender if we would indeed be notified like we had been told that we would be notified. No nothing. So what I went up to ask if your table is ready 20 minutes later front desk said our table had been given to someone else. At the point of hearing that ones table has been given to someone else, I thought that was your way of telling me that you didnt want me as a patron of that I should leave. But we didnt ...when given a table where they set us down without a menue, without a glass of water without even anybody stopping for 15 minutes. Shirty service. Then nobody knew what to do , I asked for a manager and no manager came. Poor service. Will not return. And after 40 years! Pathetic!

I get that its a busy night, I get that the hostess can be overwhelmed. What I dont understand is watching the party 2 groups behind mine (with more people in her party) get sat down because she had a sour attitude. Clearly you get better service when youre incredibly rude and cause a scene at this restaurant. Poor management, which is unfortunate because I do enjoy the crappy food from time to time. Beware if you come here when its busy. Good rule of thumb, if its busy and they quote you 60 minutes, tack on an extra 45 for good measure. Happy eating folks. :::UPDATE::: The manager finally sat us down and we were graced with Carlos as our waiter. He did an AMAZING job getting our orders done perfectly and took care of us to show us that we mattered. Ended up getting 5 free appetizers and a couple free Italian sodas.

This is experience was terrible. I have lived in Washington for years and never visited OSF and when a friend said her daughters birthday dinner would be there I was excited,I love pasta. the waitress was rude and unknowable. When my aunt requested onions in her salad they said the couldnt do that, when questioned the waitress. The manager came to out table and said the restaurant was "too busy" to have someone cut onions for her salad and it would be a waste of the oniob bc they couldnt use it. When asked why they couldnt just use it for other things the manager said they were too busy sorry and walked away. Everyones food was incredibly bland, the garlic shrimp was not cooked thoroughly this was just a terrible birthday dinner and will not be returning. Terrible first impression.

Our waiter was excellent at first and then once our order was placed he was absent. I had to flag down other waiters to get a refill on my water and even when he would bring food he would scurry off so quickly that you couldnt get anything else from him. As for the food, it was sub standard on most of the dishes. The salad was old and not fresh at all and the chicken on my dish seemed to have come from a can, it was so bland. I will say we were blown away by the broccoli in browned butter (although it was a touch salty) and by their fresh sourdough bread. The mud pie was good as well. We were disappointed by the other aspects of our meal though. We werent expecting authentic Italian food from this place, but we were expecting better service and an overall higher quality of food.

The waiting time was terrible. Waited way too long for everything seriously.... Good place to be if the food wasnt terrible. Its equal to microwave food.i can see why they moved to a smaller location but anyways.. I would go to the cheese cake factory anyway before I turn over to the spaghetti factory ever again. My high expectations for thus place was a major disappoint . I had the no.3 meatlovers spaghetti that I say tasted straight from the ragu can. My dearest friend had over cooked chicken pasta with raw broccoli served on her plate. Very sad after high expectations. No wonder why I never hear about it when debating where to eat out SMH. BTW we never had our water refilled. I generally tip big too.

Service was not good, granted he had only worked here a couple months. Didnt clean off table and brought out dessert. Bathrooms are ridiculous. Three stalls, door hitting people that were in line. Location does not represent Old Spaghetti Factory at all. For at least 30 years we have been going to Spaghetti Factory in four states and all but one time have we been disappointed, with the exception of tonight. Totally different! Waiting room pitiful! Food expensive, two wines were about a shot worth for $15, no free coffee or tea anymore, portions small, three of our five meals were bland. Such a bad experience I would not come back. Sad!!!
