So much goodness! When youre in the mood for a huge plate of delicious rice, beans, cheese and meat in any combination you can imagine... La Palma is your place! The waiters are all the best. Long time family owned and operated and the wait and kitchen staff are steady and great. Nightly specials will usually get you a huge combo plate for $10. Two meals in one! They take the Passport Card so BOGO entrees cant be beat. Their margaritas can be done super fresh and they are always strong! Get the JUMBO one for $16, such a value, like three drinks in one glass, to share or to enjoy alone. Such a neighborhood gem. TVs always play the popular games and birthdays here are a hoot because you get to wear the big sombrero and have your pic taken for the wall. The only other Mexican contender of this type is Plaza Garibaldi in Lower Queen Anne, from which I hear is also by a Jalisco family. True Mexican all the way!

We eat at La Palma every few weeks. I especially love #33 -- chicken chimichanga with cheese on top and generous amounts of guacamole and sour cream (plus rice and beans, of course). Whenever I get chimichangas at other places, they look so small and almost as if they were made in a factory. At La Palma, theyre big and delicious. I like their pina coladas. We also like getting the steak fajitas for two. The staff is really nice every single time. They never look exasperated when people come in (as happens at so many place, and they dont play the music or TV really loud -- I cant stand restaurants where you have to shout to hear one another over the music. If its your birthday, they give you a piece of flan.

I know lots of people love this place, but I dont get the appeal. Had lunch there today and service was great but the food was subpar. I tried the fish tacos, they had very small chunks of fish that I think were fried? They werent breaded, but the outside texture suggested frying of some sort. Not flaky pieces of fish as I was hoping for. The rice is dry and flavorless and the refried beans are just ok. At least it was better than the last time I was there (several years ago). I had shrimp fajitas that had a rock-like object in one of the shrimp. The entire response I got from the server was "oh." I eat Mexican food on a regular basis & at a variety of places, this will remain near the bottom of my list.

This place is perfect. Unpretentious and authentic, right down to the wrought iron lighting fixtures. The lofted and sunken eating spaces lend to its quaintness, while the handcarved benches hint of old world mission appeal. A smidge of dust and chipped paint let you in on their secret: Its about the food here! Their rice is as fluffy as I ever remember it going to Mexico as a child. Their chile sauce is awesome and I truly believe my grandpa Chico would have really loved this place. That and I was served by the happiest waiter Ive ever seen. If Mexican is your ultimate comfort food, prepare to be enveloped in a cocoon of contentment. Muchos gracias Carlos!

Not really what i expected from reviews. 40 minutes to get my order in. Not even. Busy but he was there for all the white folks didt get refills i had to ask for refill. Salsa. Not hot at all. No agua frescas for being an "authentic mexican" reataurant food had good presentation but the flavor was not good rice does. And i waited 20 minutes just to get my check. Yes i ate cause i was hungry. Im from outga town. This was down the street. I think imma do more research. Before going to another "mexican place" (americanized) not authentic

I saw this place and it reminded me of the Yucatan, so I had to try it. Now my husband and I go there at least once a month. I always get the Pollo a la Crema, its kind of like Mexican Alfredo. My husband gets something different everytime and neither of us have ever been disappointed. Their sampler platter, margaritas, chips and salsa are also great! Weve turned friends onto this place and they love it too. The waiter (I think they only have one because hes always there) is AWESOME! Some of the best service weve ever had!

This was my second visit to La Palma with my sons and it was no better the second time around. La Palma puts the Yuc in Yucatan. The margaritas, I asked for scratch, were a little tequila and a lot of sickeningly sweet mix. The wait staff was good. Unfortunately they serve food that isnt. We received plates of flavorless slop covered in cheese. How this restaurant stays in business is beyond me. Save your money. Frozen enchiladas from Trader Joes are a feast compared to the slop at La Palma.

Aside from other comments Ive seen about this place, I disagree. It looks like a hole in the wall but thats what I love about it. I just visited here for the first time and the service was great! These guys know how to keep the customer happy and satisfied with great service and great food. Its a bit pricey but in Seattle.. I get it. Though paying $3.75 for a small dish of guacamole... Come on. Had the taco salad and it was great! My boyfriend had chicken fajitas and good lord was it delicious!!

They should not call themselves a Mexican restaurant. Not Mexican food, its generic Tex-Mex. So expect cheddar cheese and everything else that goes along with that. My waiter also did not return the full change due. Returned only bills, with the rounding off in his favor. I could have called him on it, or I could have just left without giving a voluntary tip. Gave an extra dollar and will not return to this place. Seems more like a place where people go to have drinks with their meal.

I was So Disapointed. Ive been going there for over 10 years so we decide to go there for a 21st birthday. We drove there from 50 miles away. When we got there they didnt exept her ID because it was verticle. Even if anyone went to get a new ID on there 21st birthday, the one they had that day would still be verticle. What kind of restaurant refuses you drinks on that day? They dont know the difference between real IDs and fake ones. Never going here again.

My husband and I just moved to Seattle and were in search of great Mexican. Lo and behold it was situated at our bus stop! They have the BEST enchiladas verdes, not to mention everything else. I dream of their refried beans. The service is excellent and the atmosphere just kitchy enough! No worries on parking. After trying some other Mexican restaurants downtown I feel very confident in saying La Palma is the BEST!

I work across the street and initially I was skeptical but then I read the reviews here on google and they were mostly positive so I checked it out. The service was really good. The food was served quickly (This was at 12:30 on a Monday) and the staff was kind. The portions are quite large for the price as many people have said. The quality was pretty good. I will be returning soon. Google reviews FTW!
