Star 1: Location is Great!! Downtown Calistoga...it couldnt be better. Star 2: Atmosphere-great. Lighting is perfect, not too much, but plenty to read the menu. Seating is comfortable and adequate for a quaint or large dinner party. Food-great. Taste is excellent, presentation-acceptable, quantity-more than adequate. Heres the rub. Service: Terrible. Not even one star for service. We were a party of five that came in at 4:15 p.m. Immediately got a table, and placed a drink order. 4:40, drinks finally came at long last, and the food order was taken. 5:10 the food came. Alright, a half hour wait for good food can be acceptable if the service is exceptional; however, we never saw our waitress in that 30 min time...drinks were gone. We took 15 min to eat, during which the drinks were refilled...and this may be the worst offense on the list. The waitress gathered up all our soda glasses, took them away for refill, and then redistributed the used glasses to our party. We really dont know if we got back our glasses or if they were mixed up during the refilling. Gross! So now its 5:25 and we are done...the waitress never came back with the bill. At 5:45, after waiting 20 for the bill, we got up and hunted down a waitress. The bill: The bill was just over $150 for the five of us. Pretty high, but we wanted to go due to an upcoming engagement, so paid it and threw in an extra $20 for the staff. The following day, with perspective, and a calculator, we realized that we were over charged by $22. Further investigation revealed that Checkers impounds 18% on parties of 5 or more. So basically we double tipped for bad service. My bad. Wish Id have looked over that bill more carefully; Ive just never seen a gratuity tacked on to a party of five. Im not going to call to dispute, its water under the bridge; but I dont plan on eating there again. Synopsis: We spent 1 1/2 hours in Checkers, during which time we saw our waitress 3 times, and were billed 18% for this. So if you want great food in a great location, with pleasant atmosphere and poor service with a high price, then Checkers should go on your list.

The place was great, not going to lie. The service wasnt the best. The ambience of the restaurant felt really good, so thumbs up for the decor. The service wasnt the best since the moment walked in, I decided to not order anything but my wife did order the fried chicken breast. The FOH staff werent welcoming at all, not upbeat or smiling. The food, it was really, really good, from the mashed potatoes to the side of broccoli and the main piece of the meal, the chicken. It couldve been not a good day for the two ladies that were present when we ate there 4:30-5 but I believe that customer service is the key to have them come back as well as the points mentioned above. 3 stars. Another server walked in at 5pm and she was nice and smiled instantly when she looked our way. It could have been a different story if she was the one that helped us.

We dropped in at this place after a quick search on google after visiting the Castello winery. They have a few good veggie pizza options which we were looking for. We had the Pesto Pizza and the Spinach Ravioli. Both were lip-smacking, one of the best italian foods we have had around. They also serve complimentary seaoned bread. Overall quite pleased we went in here. Our waitress Martha was the well mannered, diginified type. The place looks a bit dull from the outside (at least during the day) which is unfair to the food inside, but the ambience inside is quite fine.

Went on a date lunch during my trip to Napa area and got a reallybad experience at this restaurant. Some locals pointed it as "The" place to eat. The waiter was really nice, Raul was very patient, but the food... that was a disaster. A Pan seared Salmon was sent back twice to the kitchen until we decided to actually cancel the order. First a burnt attempt and second a cold and raw plate of Salmon. 1 star... and thats the best it will be for us.

We went to have dinner, I ordered the mussel which were old and my wife order the roasted garlic which it seemed to be heated up in a microwave, I set the mussel aside waiting for the waiter to come by and to let him know, he never came back to the table, I had to flag down a buss boy to remove the plate of mussels, finally the waiter came to get our order, but we decided not to have dinner and the restaurant wasnt busy. ......

This restaurant is amazing. I highly recommend it. My mother and I ate at Checkers almost every night during our stay in Calistoga at the Mount View Hotel (sadly they dont get a good review - bad service). After returning from a NY trip, Checkers beats out almost all the restaurants in NY. I highly recommend their Polenta Cake, and Butternut Squash Ravioli. YUM!

This is a "casual" dining option, for both lunch and dinner. We has dinner here right after we pulled into town, and we found it acceptable. The service was efficient and pleasant, and the food just fine for the purpose - I ordered a Pasta Carbonara, which tasted quite good, and was of a large portion. No complaints, for a quick and filling meal after a long day.

We went for the happy hour specials and had so much to eat. Very tasty, very clean, great decor. We enjoyed sitting at the table facing the window to watch the people walk down the main street. My only halfway complaint was the service was not very friendly. We got the feeling that once she knew we only wanted appetizers she wrote us off.

I was in it tonight for dinner, pizza was ok, pasta by far too cooked (as often here in the US) and not enough salthy, thus not tasty. Ambient is ok, service was good Prices a bit high, considering what you receive, so, my rating is in the middle.

The food was good, straight forward. When youve been traveling a few days and you want somewhere with no fuss, this is it. Servers looked stressed/unhappy and poured me a flat beer, which was exchanged with no fuss. But most likely wont return.

Quick service. Very low key laid back simple atmosphere. Their firecracker Alfredo and butternut squash ravioli were fantastic. Their IPA on tap was excellent too. Not crazy expensive for restaurant in the heart of downtown Calistoga.

The soup is great and usually seasonal. I have had good success bringing little kids and getting quick service. The menu is varied so if you have a diverse group theres something for everyone.

Decent spot. The pizza was pretty good although I think they used an ingredient that wasnt listed on the menu. My lady enjoyed her salad.

Uncooked veggies, overpriced for prime rib(also undercooked). Kept us waiting too long for our check. Dont recommend this place!
