One of the worst meals of my life. I arrived at 11:30am (when they opened) with my co-worker for a nice business lunch. The door remained locked until 11:42am and we were greeted by a hostess who was obviously far less then thrilled to be a work. After being seated we informed her that we had a scheduled meeting approx 10 min away at 1:30pm and inquired if it would be an issue to have to food cooked in time to complete lunch by 1:15pm (1hr 45min after our arrival) she again did not seem happy with this but informed us this would not be an issue. She then proceeded to take our order and leave. After 15 min. of waiting for our drinks and sushi to arrive I was forced to walk into the kitchen to find the staff texting on their cell phones and informed that they wait for a full table before starting a meal. I was informed that our drinks had simply been "forgotten" and would be out shortly. When our drinks arrived at 12:14pm I ask about our food and our waitress snapped back " I dont have time to deal with this. My life is falling apart today" then walked off. at 12:30pm our hibachi arrived but they had forgotten our sushi. We requested it be canceled and our chef attempted to start cooking to find out that our hostess had forgotten to warm up the grill. He then informed us this would take 20 min and he would be back. At this point we informed him we did not have time to complete the meal and just needed to go. He offered to cook our food in the back and apply a $15 discount to each of our checks. We agreed were served shortly later with our food. After eating in a rush and not enjoying our food the bill came at full price and the hostess informed us that since each of our bills was less then $50 ($38 each) that the manager would not allow a discount. We requested to speak with the manager to find she could barley speak English and was unable to understand the issue. Do your self a big favor and just go up the street to Otani, much better food and service.

We went to Fujiya House accidentally, but was it ever a wonderful accident. This place is outstanding! Food: Having lived on Okinawa, Japan for six years, finding good sushi in the US has been, at times, a struggle; we havent found better sushi anywhere in the past ten years. The fish at Fujiya House was exemplary. Extremely fresh, tasty, and perfectly prepared every bite was excellent. Sashimi and Sushi both were just perfect. We had absolutely no complaints, the presentation was beautiful but not distracting and the balance of fish, sauce, and rice was just right. The sushi was incredibly good and is highly recommended. Environment / Decor: From the outside the restaurant might not look like much, but inside it is incredibly clean. The decor is simple but classy and modern, and the lighting is very good. Music is audible but not distracting allowing quiet conversation to be comfortably held. The sushi bar is small but very cosy. Sushi Chef / Waitress: The sushi chef is fantastic. Beyond being skilled at his art, he knows just how much conversation to hold without being pushy or interrupting your meal, yet still being engaging and bringing personality and life to the food. As we were sitting at the sushi bar, the waitress was not a strong presence but she was very friendly and polite, not being overbearing but checking often enough. The entire staff was very friendly. Pricing / Value: The food, in our view, is an excellent value. The price for sushi is competitive with everything except for sushi buffets (a bit gross to have sushi sitting out at room temp anyhow). The sashimi plates, appetizer and meal, are really great values. All in all, this was an exceptional restaurant and a real gem. If you at all like sushi (the deppanyaki looked very good as well), give Fujiya House a try!

We went to Fujiya House on a Saturday night about 6pm. The place wasnt crowded and we were seated right away. We decided to sit at one of the few "dining tables" since our party was ordering a mix of sushi and hibachi. Our waitress was very friendly the entire time, and she kept our glasses full. Our meals came with a bowl of chicken soup-- it has a wonderful caramelized onion flavor. Definitely better than the soup Ive had at Otani and Sukura. We ordered one Teppanyaki entree (steak and chicken) for one person and then a variety of sushi rolls for the other two. The entree looked amazing-- great selection of vegetables and the meat was seared to perfection. The fried rice was awesome. We decided that their hibachi is the perfect balance between the portion size you get at Otani and the quality you get at Sukura. Unfortunately, we did not love the sushi as much. The prices were reasonable and the fish was fresh, but the presentation could have been better. First, they had run out of a couple things we wanted to order, even though it was only 6pm. Second, the rolls were way too thick-- it was impossible to eat some of the pieces in one bite-- and tended to fall apart. The sushi pieces that we ordered-- eel, yellowtail, and squid-- were just WAY too big. If you want great hibachi, Fujiya House is THE WAY to go. If youre really in a sushi mood, go to Sukura.

I just returned from Fujiya House and overall I give it a 3.5. The service was great and it wasnt too crowded on a Saturday night. I sat at the sushi bar and the chef was polite and friendly. Once the rush was over, he and I chatted about the menu and he was willing to make just about anything. The decor is bright and modern and there are hibachi tables for those who want the live show. I recommend the Beautiful roll which is basic with tuna, salmon, and avocado, but its delicious even in its simplicity. There was compliimentary miso soup and salad before my sushi and I finished with green tea ice cream. The sushi menu is slightly limited, but the prices are fair with rolls mainly ranging from 5-12 dollars. Granted, this place isnt like one oud find in Japan, but Ill definitely return for more tasty offerings. Try it during happy hour, Mon-Thu 5-8pm if youre a drinker. Check it out!

This place was fantastic. It was the best restaurant experience Ive had in Fredericksburg. The hostess (turned out to be one of the owners) was extremely friendly the entire time as well as the rest of the wait staff. We ate at the sushi bar, although they also have hibachi grills. The sushi selection was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. The cuts of salmon were perfect, and the tamago was some of the best Ive had in a long time. For dessert we had the fried green tea ice cream, which was amazing. The sushi chef was very professional and fast. We ordered quite a bit of sushi at various intervals and it was ready very quickly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

My husband had been going here for lunch and was raving about his food. So we went to have dinner. The hostess sat us at the Hibachi table even though we told her we were not ordering Hibachi. She said it was fine. So we sit at the table and the waitress is taking our order. Now she removes us from the table and sits us with our backs to everything since we were not ordering Hibachi. It was insulting. As if we were trying to get the free show that everyone knows by heart. We ordered our food, which I thought was "so-so" I prefer UMI. And we left and have never gone back. They should not humiliate customers that they sat in such a manor.
