Sam Renfrew We spend a few hours at your restaurant this evening....and I must we .(all 9 of us) were disappointed in the service .We had a 6:30 reservation and after 8 oclock. we still had no food. We were sharing a special dinner after some of had worked 12 hours. We understand sometimes things happen ,like call out...more customer than expected ...ect as we are in retail. I have heard and read many bad reviews and stories regarding this establishment. Let me start out by saying that I am a frequent customer at Otanis and I have never had an issue with any of my meals or experiences in the past. However, I will NEVER be going back after my most recent experience. On Wednesday (12/09/2015) I ordered carryout from Otanis (soup, salad, chicken teriyaki, vegetables, and fried rice) I decided to save my meal for lunch the next day. As I was eating my main course I crunched on something hard and spit it out to find a sharp, thick piece of glass which I had bitten into. There is no reasonable explanation to have pieces of glass mixed in your food. I will be contacting the health department in hopes that they will further this investigation.

We are long time customers of Otani. We went each Wednesday for sushi night and often for dinner. As well as our parents. But not after last nights horrible experience. The waiter was slow, the orders were off and they charged for a mistake they had to fix. It took long to even get our order put in, then my husband waited 20 minutes for his beer. Our friends waited 15 minutes for their soups and salads. My husbands food didnt come out until after we finished our sushi. & worst of all, after confronting the owner who knows our family very well, he was rude and embarrassing towards us. Saying he saw no problem and it wasnt his fault. Then the bill comes, and nothing was even done to make up for it. Horrible experience. Never going back. Very poor customer service.

Otani is not just one of the best Hibachi in Fredericksburg, its one of the best anywhere. Their fried rice is incredibly good. The grilled vegetables they serve with just about every entree are so delicious, we always ask for extra veggies. I usually get the shrimp and filet but others in my party very much enjoy the chicken and scallops. Im not a sushi fan but my brother-in-law said it was good. :-) The show is usually pretty typical but whereas all the chefs are courteous, quick, and agile, every once in a while you get one that is particularly funny or clever. This is a regular for us!

Run of the mill teppanyaki place. Their salad was fortunately very crisp if uninspired. Miso soup seemed more like warm chicken broth with a few scallions. The grill chef was engaging but a bit messy. He also insisted on doing that thing where he launches food and you have to catch it in your mouth. But the grill food was tasty, although a bit over seasoned. I would probably not visit again in summer. It gets really warm and stuffy in the restaurant once the grills get going. Fine place to bring kids though.

Amazing food. I love the soup at the beginning, it was a perfect start to my meal as it was very flavorful. Then came your choice of rice or noodles, it is always a hard choice as both are amazing. Then the vegetables come out, and they are cooked perfect. Followed by the meat of your choice, as your sitting there with your mouth watering. When you finish and think your full enough, they come out with serbert. I recommend going if your hungry as you will leave very full.

Writing a review..because I went here based on others reviews..and it was a mistake. I love Japenese steak houses and was disappointed with the food quality. Chicken and steak were dry and so was the fried rice. Customer service was great and everyone there was amazing..but it cant make up for the food. When you pay 50 dollars for one adult and one kids I expect edible food..and it was not.

My family and I have been going to this restaurant for the past 12 years. The food and the service has always been great. We are treated like family every time we go. Its hard to believe people like Cheridy who say they have been going there for years and have one bad experience and then all the sudden they are dirt. Go somewhere else anyway!!!

Discolored, warmer than room temperature salmon nigiri, questionable Alaska Roll and Philadelphia Roll salmon quality with a total lack of flavor. All the good reviews for this place must be for the hibachi grill situation. The "sushi" as we Muricans call it, is bad. I shouldve left when I realized the soy sauce wasnt Kikkomans.

Had a reservation for a large party, arrived on time but were forced to wait more than 45 minutes for our table. They seated another large party before us even though they arrived later. We almost missed a show we had tickets for. Staff was clueless & unresponsive. Will not eat here again.

The sushi was ok, and it was actually really cheap. The server was very kind, and she gave some of our group members free food since they had to wait so long for their food. They have this spicy tuna roll challenge where the prize is a cheesecake... DONT DO IT. Pure pain.

My husband and I walked in Saturday night for dinner, first time visit. The floor was disgusting, food everywhere, carpet dirty, plastic plates. The restroom was very, very dirty which made me wonder what the kitchen looked like. We walked out!

Had a wonderful time with my friends. Our server and chef were very kind and nice. Hibachi was delicious, Long Island iced teas were fantastic, and the sushi was fantastic! I highly recommend!
