I live in Fredericksburg, so I dont often visit the Stafford location, but Im always happy with the service and quality when I do. This location is definitely much larger, so its great for groups, but that also means its a bit lacking in the "ambience" department- unlike the Fredericksburg location, which is more intimate. Nonetheless, the sushi is superb and everything is always nicely presented and delicious. Ive dined at both the booths and the sushi bar and have received great service at both areas of the restaurant. And, if theres ever been a wait, it honestly wasnt anything significant and, to be honest, Im someone who feels that sushi is an experience which should not be rushed, so I dont mind taking pleasure in enjoying my dining companions while waiting for each new course to arrive. Oh! And, if your budget and timing allows, Id highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar and asking for an Omakase experience-- its something youll never regret!

The staff was friendly. Ive been a few times and consistently order the heavy smoked salmon and avocado roll, which is always magnificent. When I went to dinner yesterday I also ordered the creamy crab specialty roll, and the avocado salad. Everything tasted great, the avocado salad was extremely surprising, as Ive had nothing like it before (the creamy crab roll was equally as surprising and delicious) and highly recommend the last two if youre feeling like you may want to try something just a foot or two out of the norm.

My wife and I tries something different. My wife had the Coconut Red Snapper. I had the Chilean Sea Bass. Both dishes were presented beautifully. Michelin star quality. I had never had black rice before and I loved it. The sauces for both dishes were excellent and matched perfectly to each dish. Service was excellent as always. I dont normally associate nontraditional dishes with Umis. The Sea Bass and Red Snapper were wonderful surprises. If you want superior quality sea food in Stafford, go to Umis.

worst experience ever. the teriyaki ribeye looked like a dead corpse skin color, and when i returned it they said it would come out same so i should order steak another way...such as basil steak. we said okay, and of course it was the same steak but cubed and stir fried. so, the food is poor and they insult their customers. also, i was told the hamachi kama would take awhile because its flame broiled. it was served as deep fried. worst experience ever. dont waste your time or money on this place.

Im not a fan of sushi, at all, but this place has changed my tune. Tried it out as a date with my husband since he loves sushi and I knew I could order non-sushi items, tried one of his, havent regretted it! We order out time to time since we dont want to bring our two very young children in and see it as more of a nice dinner out date. Highly recommend the Megan Roll for those who thought they didnt like sushi!

Great restaurant, very classy and the food tastes very traditional. Its not Chinese food, its Japanese, so you will have some different menu options. Great sushi, rice, and spring rolls! I would steer away from the soups and tempura (fried) because there just isnt a lot of flavor, but that might be just my own personal taste. The fried food, tempura, is very lightly fried.

Place worth the trip for the good. Some of the best sushi you can ask for. If youre a skeptic start with the Avocado salad, and the superman rolls and you cant go wrong. Have brought many friends that say they hate sushi and have tried it before with no success but have agreed those two combinations are great. Staff is very friendly and the food is fantastic!

Much larger than Fredericksburg restaurant. Same great food. Beautiful decor. My biggest complaint is the sushi chefs are not trained properly in art of making traditional sushi. Nigiri sushi is missing wasabi seasoning under the fish and rice portions are over compressed (skinny). Ive experienced the same problem at the Fredericksburg restaurant as well.

Had a craving for Ramen and lucky me. The special was Tom Yum Ramen. Good flavor and hot. It was devine and I was happy. Price was reasonable. Sat at Sushi bar and the chef was a hilarious guy who made small talk with everyone at the bar. Nice, clean place with a friendly staff. I recommend it to anyone looking for Japanese cuisine.

Stopped by for a sushi fix on a Saturday afternoon and was not disappointed. Large menu of choices, some unique custom creations and very friendly service. The high seat sushi bar is well suited for singles and couples. The Sushi bar sits very close to the entrance and can be a distraction when the restaurant is busy.

Best sushi around! Really amazing food and their waitresses are super friendly. They also have a few hidden sushi specials that arent on the menu like the tuna spoons and pink lady. If youre unsure of what to order ask the waitresses. Our server this evening was awesome and helped us pick some great sushsi.

The freshest, most delicately delicious sushi I have had in some time. In town for less than a week, I made sure to visit a second time before we left, bringing a group of friends with us. We were not disappointed and I hope to be sent here for another conference soon--just for anther meal here!

So amazing! The chef took care of my husband and I as if we were family. He was very friendly and proud of the sushi he prepared. The sushi was so nicely plated and super delicious. This sushi is worth the extra bucks due to how fresh and good it is. Will definitely be coming back for more. =)

Sat at the bar and chatted with the chefs. It was amazing to watch them prep a whole tuna while the head chef prepped the meal. The seafood was uber fresh and well prepared. The blend of flavors was perfect. Spider roll could have been a little crisper, but overall still 5 star worthy.

This place has the best fried rice. I love that I can get really good fried rice and really sushi at the same place. They have great customer service too. They are always polite when I call and are always prompt when I pick my order up. This is my go to spot for Japanese cuisine.

UMI is the best family owned sushi restaurant in Stafford. I love to take my real estate clients there for some great food and drinks!! Sit at the bar, get to know the sous-chef and have him create you a work of art that melts in your mouth. You wont be disappointed.

Fantastic lunch value. 3 rolls plus choice of soup or salad for $12!! Mine was delicious, however my brothers girlfriend said later she watched one of the chefs drop a cut mango on the floor, look around to see if others saw, and then use it anyway.

Our favorite restaurant in Stafford. The food is always of great quality and delicious. Sushi is always fresh and tasty as well. Service can be a little off sometimes but 9 out 10 times its fine. Hard to find quality in this area but Umi is swell.

Pleasant atmosphere and the staff was friendly. The staff gave me and my girlfriend privacy during the dinner, but they made sure that we werent without anything. Was the first time I had been to the establishment and I will be returning.
