So Ive been debating posting this, but as someone who managed/worked in the restaurant industry for 15ish years....it needed to be said: Last night, my husband and I went to Lai Lai (a place Ive been eating at since 2001). While sipping my first sip from my second glass of Chardonnay....it slipped out of my hand & the stem broke on the table. I was mortified!!! I lost most of my wine & the waiter (sweet guy) helped me clean it up & eventually brought me a new glass to hold the little wine I had left. A little bit later the waiter came and brought us our check and said "Miss Lisa told me that I had to charge yall for the broken glass, or she would take it out of my pay." (Lisa is the owner) We paid the $5, but its really not about the money... we should have been treated better (especially after buying a $50 meal). This may be petty, but we live in a town FULL of family owned Chinese restaurants...I urge you to think twice before going here.

I posted this just to say that, contrary to what one reviewer has said, the owner is definitely not a snob. Shes a lovely woman who cares a great deal about her business and her customers. She is polite to everyone, just quiet and very formal. Ive only been going to Lai Lai for a few months, since I moved to Northport, and she remembers my name every time I visit. Also, as I must be relevant, the food is damn good. Try the beef noodle soup that they serve on weekends. Its amazing.

Decent egg drop and hot and sour soup. Ordered Honey chicken, General chicken and House fried rice... Excellent taste, lightly breaded and crispy with white meat and perfectly "seasoned" not drowned with sauce. Reasonable portions for the price. Very pleasant service and not overly attentive on a very slow night. You are missing out if you live here and havent tried this place. Go...this week...even if youve already had Chinese food this week.

I travel to Tuscaloosa twice a month from Orlando and I always look forward to eating here on my visits. Staff is friendly and service is quick, prices are extremely reasonable and most importantly the food is utterly fantastic. Order the Beef Black Pepper Sauce, Sweet and Sour Chicken or Triple Kung Pao - You will not be disappointed. I never write reviews, but this place deserves my praise wholeheartedly.

This is the best Authentic Chinese Food in town, The owner is such a wonderful lady, the wait staff is so pleasant. Love this restaurant. If I could give ten stars I would. The food had such wonderful flavor an is priced just right.
