Terrible training. I have lived in Tooele for 20 years. We try to support our local community restaurants and stores. We are grateful that this restaurant tries to employee our youth, but their training is terrible. Every time we go there something goes wrong. Tonight we took my mother-in-law out to dinner, she just moved to Tooele from California, and we had once previous taken her to La Fontera and they made a mistake on her order so we decided to give it another try, She is Spanish and we hoped the experience would be better. The last few times we have eaten there the food has tasted good but they always tell you when you receive your order that they are out of the guacamole or sour cream So today before we ordered, I asked if they had the guacamole and was told yes, so we ordered three orders of chimichangas, with rice and beans, cheese enchiladas with rice and beans, and my mother in law ordred the rolled tacos in corn tortillas with rice and beans. When the enchiladas came they had no noticeable cheese, one order of chimichangas had a single chimi, and none of them had quacamole. I asked about the quacamole and sour cream the waitress said she just got told they were out of it. I could tell the waitress was new but tried to help her where we could. My mother in laws food came and it was one large flatbread pork taco. we informed the waitress that the order was wrong and that she wanted the tacos that were like taquitos. She said easy fix and returned to the kitchen. We started eating slowly and 10 minutes later she brought out a pork tostada, we said this was still wrong and we still hadnt received the other chimichangas as well. She went back to the kitchen to find out what was going on. I saw and heard her talking to the manager on duty. They manager told her to tell us there would be a discount on or order but not on everything. a new group of people came in and the sat them at the table directly behind us. The manager quickly started to take their drink order. when the manager brought there drinks, I asked for a refill on my sons lemonade. I could tell the manager was avoiding us and heard her tell our waitress about the lemonade. We had not seen our waitress since she went to find out about the chimi. our waitress brought the lemonade and asked if we needed boxes. i said we were still waiting for the chimi and the tacquitos. oh ya. the manager brought the food to the second table and I asked to talk to her privately. I told here about the mix up on the orders and she acted like she knew nothing about it. I told her that we had asked about the guacamole and been informed that they had it. She said they were having issues with the supplier, I asked why the cooks and waitresses were not informed that they were out and she said they had had a little quac earlier in the day. (the same thing Ive been told the last four times Ive been there.) I told her that the cooks and manger should be informing the waitress of products that they are out of and I was tired off paying for food that didnt have all of the ingredients offered, if they cant get guacamole then remove it from the menu or buy avocados from the store and make their own. She tried to tell me it was only the waitresses second day. I told her I realized the girl was new but it was the mangers job to make sure the waitress knew what was in stock and what the menu items were. She said shed mention the girl needed more training to her manager. I apologized to the waitress and gave her a $3 tip and my phone number in case she lost her job. I told her I realized she needed more training but that this was a management problem and she needed to learn more. We received the final chimi in a to go box and received my mother in laws tostada and one order of chimichangas free. we never saw the rolled tacos (taquito like) but it doesnt change the fact that the restaurant is poorly managed, and Im not sure the ownership cares.

Four stars prices for two star food. The wait staff were sub-standard (except Theresa, who was pleasant and SMILED!) and couldnt be bothered to wait on customers, instead choosing to hang out near the back with their friends. The food was your standard Americanized Mexican food. Typical of most rural communities in the Western US. The so-called Carne Asada tacos were un-seasoned hamburger. The enchiladas barely fit the definition and there was something else on my plate that looked like a burrito, but was simply a folded or rolled tortilla with, what looked like refried bean paste, with sauce and cheese dumped on it. For what we paid, we could have had better food at the Red Iguana in SLC. Restaurant permits need to have a criteria for advertising: You cant bill yourself as a Mexican restaurant just because you have refried beans on your menu. TL;DR You can produce their food at home for far cheaper, and have a better time to boot. This food and (most) of the staff is too poor quality for their prices!

Ive been going to La Frontera in the Salt lake Valley on and off for years, theyve always had good Mexican food. I took my family to this one located in Tooele and it was a disaster. First of all the building is gross, old and run down. The bathrooms smelled like someone had died in there and the food was cold, and disgusting. It took over an hour to get our food from the time we had ordered it. The server brought out my wifes and my plate but not my sons, we asked where his was and the server went back and checked and brought out someone elses order and said "he can have this, someone took his plate". It wasnt even close to what we had ordered for him. We said no, so we waited another 10 or so min to get his remade. There excuse was they had 4 new cooks in the back. Who schedules new cooks on a busy night? Dont waste your time or money going to this filthy restaurant.

I am giving this place five stars for one specific reason. But Ill talk about that later. The food was good, the place was pretty clean. The service, however, was exemplary. My friends and I arrived at night soaking wet from riding motorcycles in 42 degree rain. We asked to be seated at the warmest possible spot and they sat us next to the kitchen. We appreciated that. We were well taken cared of. That above and beyond service is what makes me give five stars. I will never give five stars for the way food tastes, how clean the store is, or gimmicky things. Five stars will only come from the way I am treated. Now, Im sure they just felt sorry for us so they wanted to take care of us more than other people but that was my one experience with this place.

So sad to be writing a not so great review. I called in my order and the small amount of interaction with the staff was great. My food is a big thumbs down this go around. I ordered the large combination and the filling in the taco and on the tostada was over powdered with chili powder. I dont eat here often because I feel it is over priced. So when I do I would like ot to be enjoyable. Lesson learned on my part. I will stick with the best item the offer the chips and salsa!
