This was the first place I ever worked 30 years ago before that we used to play in the alley while our parents and grandparents played bocce ball then we would all gather for the biggest plate of spaghetti you had ever seen. I come from a family of homemade sauce and meatballs but this is no comparison - love grandma to death but Yarussos is the best. Last year I brought the in-laws there for my birthday dinner - they have been coming back monthly if not weekly since. We bring 4 people - get the dinner for 2 and bring food home!!!!! If anyone goes home hungry from here they are amazing. Lots of choices for even those non - Italian food loving people (yes believe it or not they do exsist). I stop for take out sometimes so I can have lunch the next day at work - yes folks it is just as good warmed up the next day and not too many places can say that. Italian or not you have to try this place. And the decorations are the best - they have truely made us all feel like one of the family - nothing better than going to a restaurant and seeing your family history up on a wall - the little ones have so much fun finding our family names up on the wall. I am babbling but honestly you can never say enough about how good this place really is - go there - eat there and you will agree!!!!

Family Favorite! My family has been eating at Yarussos for the better part of our lives. We get together there for Birthdays, Family Reunions and anytime we want delicious spaghetti. On many ocassions sauce, meatballs and bread have been pickup for family celebrations at home or just to have some when you just gotta have Yarussos spaghetti! My sister brought a frozen gallon of sauce with her on a trip to Puerto Vallarta in 1998. Her daughter who was studying in Cuernavacca traveled to PV to meet her Mom retrieve the sauce and return to her host family in Cuernavacca to share this amazing spaghetti. She took a picture of her and the family enjoying the spaghetti. The photo hung on the wall in the bar area prior to the fire. Much to my surprise my husband and I were in Yarussos recently while out treasure hunting and there on the front of one of the menus is my niece sharing our family favorite with her Mexican host family! Priceless..........

This place is fantastic. We ordered a 1/2 carafe of chainti, ceasar salad, garlic cheese bread, meat and cheese ravioli, baked most alfredo and spmoni ice cream for desssrt. Everything was SO GOOD!! The 1/2 carafe of wine is enough for 4 glasses and the house chainti pairs nice with the pasta. The dressing on the Caesar salad is phenomenal. The sauce and meat in the ravioli was full of flavor. The alfredo was equally as good and smoothered in melty, motzorella cheese. The spmoni ice cream was enough for a large group; its 4-5 scoops for one order!! I am usually hesitate to go to Italian restaurants in the twin cities as I can easily make bland sauce and noodles at home for $3. This is NOT that type of place. Super reasonable prices and really great authentic Italian food!

Growing up on the Eastside, you cant help but experience the wonderful flavor of Yarusssos food. After moving to the "burbs we would go back to the Eastside to attend church. Every Sunday we would stop for lunch with the kids. My oldest son Nick loved it from the first on. He used to call it "My"russos! Now he is in Texas with the Army National Guard and he tells me how much he misses eating at Yarussos. I am trying to figure out if I can send him some, packaged in dry ice. The thing about Yarussos is you dont just go there because its a place to go out to eat, you go there because you are CRAVING IT! Nothing satisfies that craving until you get your fix :) Also, its kind of a perk to have your maiden name and married name on their wall. Yarussos rocks!

This is genuinely a really nice place, and the price/portions are decent! It was my first time today eating here with my family and the food was above average to some extent. One of the things I loved was the tomato sauce. From previous restaurants, the tomato sauces Ive had were very acidic and harsh on the tongue, but the sauce here is sweet and really draws out the natural flavor of tomatoes. Though in all honesty, there wasnt any surprising "wow" factors to the food. If I were to rate the food I would give it a good 3.5/5. However, the customer service there was splendid and our waiter was extremely sincere and courteous. Overall, one of the few good restaurants around the East Side and Id recommend this to anyone whos up for a satisfying meal.

I grew up in Buffalo, NY, and had been so homesick for good, homestyle Italian for over 20 years, until my husband found Yarussos. The first really great, authentic Italian sausage Ive had since I moved here, its flavorful, with the perfect balance of spices. The eggplant parmesan is cooked perfectly, with a crispy exterior that holds up to the obviously homemade red sauce. In the Peanuts comics, Linus was always looking for the most sincere pumpkin patch. Yarussos may not be the most brilliant, chef-driven, Italian restaurant in the Cities, but it is the most sincere. Giant portions and staggeringly low prices, tasty cocktails and a decent house chianti, not to mention the birthday Mondays, have made this place our family favorite.

We ordered our food to go but I would highly recommend dining in as well. Yarusso-Bros has an awesome atmosphere with the friendliest staff youll ever meet. Did I mention the food? ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! My Wife had the Chicken Parmesan and I had a "Medium" Pepperoni pizza ("Medium" because they make it by hand and it may come out a Medium/Large) and they were both outstanding. The sauce on the Chicken and the pizza were both perfect. The cheese on both were fantastic. The overall quality of both were 10 out of 10. If you are looking for a great traditional Italian meal this is definitely the spot. Weve tried almost all the other "Italian" places in St. Paul, and while some are good, they do not compare to the quality of Yarusso-Bros.

What are the real tests of the quality of a restaurant? 1.) How often do you patronize this establishment? I have been known to go there two or three times in one week, but I always visit at least once or twice a month. 2.) it is easy to like a restaurant after one or two visits, but the real test is: How long you have been going there? Since my father first took me there when I was a child, I have been continuously visiting them for 55 years. 3.) Is it your families favorite restaurant? My two siblings live in the southwestern United States. Whenever they visit, the first stop they want to make when they arrive is Yarussos. You could not ask for a better recommendation. Uncle Tio

Samantha, Feb 27, 2012 Homemade comfort food. Yarussos is an old friend. A family kitchen where everyone gathers. Old fashioned, excellent Italian comfort food with a warm, inviting atmosphere. It reminds me of my aunts kitchen with good things bubbling on the stove on a Sunday morning for pasta that night. Meatballs the size of your head, amazing fresh bread, hot dagos to die for, and so much more. Walk in the door and you are family. I love the Swede Hollow and neighborhood pride and how the history is kept alive, as well as how they genuinely care for the people who come there. Long standing tradition in St. Paul that is sure to go on for years to come. Salute!
