Tons of Indian restaurants around New Jersey - some well known and some so-so. Guru Palace does not ring like a celebrity restaurant but this is our third time around where they completely nailed it with their awesome food and fabulous service. First time - around 2 years back, we attended a birthday party over here and we absolutely loved their food. So, this time, after going around a couple of places, we decided to do the baby shower here. And their food was fantastic! Most Indian Dinner buffets around Jersey are so very run of the mill, that people dont talk about it. However, we are continuously receiving rave reviews about the food from our guests!!!! We has just 3 appetizers and 3 entries and each one of them were a class of its own! the Hara Bhara Kabab was just like you get in Mumbai and the Chicken 65 was spicy and tangy and every bit authentic!! Trust me, our guests ranged from Indian to Pakistani, Puerto Rican and Argentinian - and every one of them was raving. Dinner time was quiet time! However, the most important of the entire experience was Lily - the manager. It is said that establishments are not made famous by only their product but the people who run it. From the time we had met her to book our party till the very end when my very pregnant wife was tired and sitting down after the party - Lilys caring nature, bringing her a mango lassi that is fantastic at this place and her super efficient servers - made the entire event very enjoyable and stress-free!!! I would definitely recommend this place!! If you going to a lunch buffet or ordering a la carte - the items I would order again and again are their mutton curry, malai kofta, hara bhara kabab!! I have seen them consistently maintain their quality and I hope they never let Lily go from this place!! She makes the place what it is!!!

Went to Guru Palace for a private affair the other week and was absolutely dissatisfied with the way management handled the event. First: The heating was broken and the manager never told our friends who booked the place until midway through the dinner. Even when we first arrived to the place to set the tables, the lady would go up to the thermostat and press a few buttons, and say "Yes, I just turned it up all the way, dont worry." It was only until my brother went to the thermostat did we realize she actually didnt even press anything and the heat was not turned on. So, we turned it on ourselves, but still no heat. We told management, and they said yeah, our heater is broken and set us up with a few space heaters. These space heaters did not get the job done at all, unfortunately all our guests had to wear their jackets and coats throughout the dinner to stay warm. Second: with all the space heaters setup and plugged into the wall, Guru Palace did not have proper electricity wired to handle a simple DJ setup with two speakers. It caused a circuit to break and the manager told our event organizer that either "we dont have heat or we dont have a speaker" Third: With all the complaints that happened already, the manger threatened to not serve dinner if payment was not received. Words were thrown around, and I was appalled by some of the things that were coming out of the managers mouth, it was very unprofessional and rude. We of course paid the full amount, and received cold food; the naan was dry, the chicken tikka was plain boring and cold. I will never go back to this place again, or, recommend anyone to try it. Terrible management tied with subpar food equates to an awful dining experience.

True love will find you, time and time again, at the most opportune moments of your life. Guru Palace is, by far, the most intricate and jaw dropping flavor goodness that I have had in a loooooooooooooooooong time, with an endearing friend that boasts my loving devotion. First off, its the ambiance. The professional and yet friendly services are executed in impeccable perfection. They might seem a bit distant with you, because they dont want to rush you; theyre keen on giving you the time to think for yourself. Afterwards, if you cant get it straight, theyll gently give you their recommendations for their most magnificent dishes. Before, they serve you with your order, they serve chips and three kinds of sauce that I cannot remember for dear life, bursts pouches of love and appreciation on the fringe of your palate. Make no mistake, this is Guru Palace, baby! Then comes the entree, veg. Pekoras! These are the most enticing little pieces of crispy and chewiness that youll never forget in this lifetime. Whats more? They actually dont serve the main dish unless youve told them to do so. And youd better believe it, Spinach Kofta Curry that Ive had is so fresh and savory that Id want to camp out in N.J for the rest of this lifetime. Alas! after the fun and festivity, it was time to say goodbye. Guess what? with 2 nans, Spinach Kofta Curry, chicken tikka masala, veggie pekoras, and milk tea, it was only 40 bucks, for two! The proportions humongous so you can actually take it to go. Sure, I will order their food for my outdoor party. So, what are you waiting for? If youre in the area, be sure to check them out!

We booked GURU palace for our event because both the decor the food was great. We changed the menu twice and Lisa smilingly took a note and accommodated it. Initially I was a little skeptic about the service in Guru Palace. After the event, I was more than happy! We bought liquors ourselves and there was one dedicated person constantly serving liquor throughout. The appetizers and food were replenished before we needed to request. The used up plates were take away on time. Any time we needed help, for example to have the Pinata contest for the kids, or cake cutting, or a karaoke session, it was promptly arranged. Of course we had planned everything ahead of time, but the right table size for cake cutting, and ropes for pinata etc was brought in and removed on time. We brought the Karaoke system ourselves. They provided us with a bluetooth speaker which was decent, but we wanted something bigger. They allowed to store the cake and the liquor ahead of the event, that way it was less rush on the day of the event! We had a lot of out of station guests and everyone loved it. Oh, I must mention, there are permanent glass decoration and a flickering lights that adds to the ambiance, we did not have to bring much decoration other than a few balloons and some paper hanging party decors. They provided the chairs with ribbons, red plastic roses in each table. The food was very very tasty! Will come back for more events here for sure!

I am very frequent customer of this place. I must say they have improved but there are still few dishes that I have listed here which I would NOT EVER order again. 1. Guru special desi chicken (something like that/ house dish). I ordered this dish 1st time, the curry was great but the chicken quality was grimey (Yukk). I thought it might have been one time thing. So after couple of months when I went there again with my family and ordered the same dish again...the chicken was exactly the same disgusting quality...I think they use their old chicken (which they must get rid of before its rotten) uggghh...............I am having to type this with a heart break since I like some of their other dishes very much. 2. Hariyaali chicken (green colored sizzler appetizer / very flat taste/ fancy name nothing to taste) 3. Their jinga (shirp/prawn) with green chilli or spicy curry...I loved this dish except the shrimp were almost as tiny as a cashew..almost nothing to bite on. When I asked the waiter he told me that is the quality they get from their supplier (all the time) All in all, I have not tried all their dishes but the food is tasty and the place itself is definitely worth eating at as long as they do not use that disgusting quality chicken, spice up the hariyali chicken and use king prawns for their jinga dish. I hope the owner reads this review and takes some action. They will have one happy customer for sure.
