I feel compelled to write something nice about Zenna since I noticed most of the reviews for Zenna mention Nandina, and I just happened to have eaten at Nandina last night (circa 2:15 A.M.) and Zenna tonight (at around the exact same time). I have been to Zenna in the daytime before, but somehow just learned about Nandina and its Lower Greenville area post-last-call supremacy over the other greasy late-night food service options last night. Thanks to that experience, I received a craving for curry 24 hours later and decided to indulge it at Zenna. There were probably more staff than there were customers when I arrived at Zenna tonight, but they were exceptionally friendly and enthusiastic. Some places seem to have this thing where when there is hardly anybody eating there the food takes forever and the waiter is about as attentive as an alcoholic stepfather, but not here -- at Zenna, it worked out the way it kind of seems like it should, where things are faster and more direct thanks to the "slow night." Of course, calling it a slow night is not fair since it is dubious how many people in this immediate area have similar needs for Asian delicacies in the first quarter of the antemeridian hours on a weeknight, and how many times in a given month they would act upon these cravings. Nevertheless, every facet of service was prompt. The same could be said of Nandinas service last night. The food was good -- downright excellent if you consider the hour. Granted, Thai curry dishes are rarely screwed up in my experience, so maybe it is not rocket science (though the sauces and instant meals I have made from grocery stores packages are not up to snuff) to make one delicious. The spice level was not quite there (though, to be fair, I am very hard to please in this regard and actually have yet to dine at a Thai restaurant in Texas which matches my taste... I always ask for 5, as spicy as possible, and the only time it has ever been spicy enough to make it hard for me to shovel forkfulls in my mouth rapidly was in Urbana, Illinois) at either place, but I will say that my Zenna Red curry was slightly spicier than my Nandina Yellow curry... and the Zenna dish was full of more largely cut vegetables and shrimp than my Nandina dish, which, in hindsight, could have been a little beefier. I think the portion of the Zenna dish was a bit bigger (though this could fully be a matter of inaccurate perspective on my part). I also ordered some salmon rolls from Zenna -- once again, I would pad this statement with "what can you expect at this hour," but I would have to say the roll was a little... it was either too flavorless or too sweet -- the salmon, vinegary rice, and seaweed paper flavors were not as high as I normally like them. Regardless, I ate them all and had nothing to complain about, because over all the meal was (both meals were) delicious and fully satisfying. In conclusion, I would say that the choice between Zenna and Nandina should lie upon where you happen to be located when you are making the decision, or, if you are equidistant from both, which one you went to last. They are both the perfect solution for hunger between 2 and 3 A.M. (or other hours, but especially this one), and I do not think it matters which one came first because they are fairly far apart, they provide different atmospheres, and they are both composed of great service and food deserving of loyal customers. Of course, I am writing this review under Zennas listing so I will cease the Nandina love at this point and simply say Zenna is more than worth checking out -- great food, selection, service, atmosphere, and the right price... all available at a time when your only other options are 24 hour greasy spoon diners or fast food drive-thrus.

Let me tell you, if I could give this place a 0 I would but stupid website wont let you. Today my family (4) of us went there for lunch. As we entered the resturant we were not greeted but rather someone behind us was being helped before us because he had a to-go order. After waiting a server seated us on a broken table in which we asked to move to a different one. Meanwhile as he did, I noticed the a.c was turned off and the restaurant was really hot. As our waiter approached our table, we were not even greeted nor asked if we had questions about the menu. Our waiter was in a hurry to take our order for some odd reason. I asked for the bento box drunken noodles with no tomatoes and no bell peppers. We also asked for no sushi in the bento box but extra salad, she was fine with that. After waiting there nearly 20 minutes 3 tables with families of 5 and 6 were given appetizers and we still didnt get ours. As our waiter passes by our table she didnt bother to refill our water nor apologize about the wait. After 45 minutes the other tables gets there lunch and were still waiting on our APPETIZERS. As I waived at the waitress she ignores me and kept going. 15 minutes has passed and she came up to us finally and said the order is almost done. 20 minutes later our food came out and the order was all wrong. A) the food was cold. I repeat COLD. As I looked at the tables around me, the steam was coming out of there food and ours was more like it came out the refgerator. B) the drunken noodles had the tomatoes in I specifically emphasized I didnt want. C) the sushi the was in the box that I didnt ask for came out in the box. As we looked around for our waitress we were told that she is busy in the kitchen. We asked to speak to the manager and the manager didnt want to come out. Why in the world would a manager not come out and speak to there customers. While waiting more, our waitress finally came to our table we told her our complaints than as she was upset she took each box and slammed it it her hands and stormed off with out even apologizing just for the wait. I went to the waitress and asked to pay for the spring rolls we ate and also requested to speak to the manager for the second time.I was told there is no manger and I was also told we are very busy in the kitchen and you just have to go sit back down and wait. Really what kind of customer service is that, she really pushed my buttons! I told her I want the check for the spring rolls since that is the only thing we ate and I dont want to eat here ever again. She than said I will give it to you to go. I obviously didnt go there to eat for free, I went to enjoy lunch with my family. I told her no and I paid what I ate for and left. Let me tell you all something I have never EVER seen such horrible customer service like that EVER. Dont be a fool and go there. Zenna Restaurant wins the worlds awards for the WORST customer service EVER.
