I loved benihana until yesterday. I always went to the one in Dallas and yesterday was my first time visiting to Irving location. It was my brothers birthday and I strongly recommended this place. The Irving location was closer to where my brothers place, so my family, my brothers friends and I decided to go to Benihana in Irving. I made a reservation but we still had to wait almost 30 minutes after our arrival. After our server took us to our seats, we had to wait another 40 minutes for chef to start cooking. The show was the worst and slowest show Ive ever seen. He spent so much time to build an onion top which was not worth it. There was 5 people ordered fried rice, he only got 4 bowls for fried rice, so he had to go to kitchen to get another bowl and burned the rice. The amount of fried rice that he gave to each person was the smallest amount Ive ever seen in hibachi restaurant. It was obvious that he miss counted people who ordered fried rice but I didnt complain about it because that fried rice was burned and I didnt want to have more of it anyway. It took him more than 1 hour to finish cooking because he went back-and-forth to kichen to grab stuffs that he forgot. All the food we ordered (deluxe treat, ocean n sea, samurai treat and etc.) was the worst taste I ever had in hibachi restaurant so far. The shrimp and lobsters were not cooked enough and fishy. There was too much peppers in scallops and vegies all I could taste was peppers. It cost us about $260, I feel like I threw my money in a trashcan. The server somehow took about 20 minutes to process two card transactions. We spent 3 hours in this restaurant which was wasting time and money. My family and my brothers friends was not happy about their first experience at all and I was so embarrassed. Im not going back to Benihana again.

One person said it correctly, its all in the chef you get. If you get a rooky, they do not cook the chicken long enough to rid it of bacteria for the fried rice, they cross-contaminate utensils with the uncooked chicken on to someone elses food, and they do not know how to entertain. I live near the Las Colinas Benihanas and enjoy the food if we get a good chef. I have tried asking for certain chefs, but it appears that the manager is enjoying watching me get frustrated, request food to be re-cooked, and just plain ole have a bad time. If you get a good chef, you get a great meal. If you get a lousy chef, you risk going home with a stomach-ache and diarrhea. I came very close to calling the Texas Health Dept. after leaving there last night. To properly cook Hibachi chicken, it needs to cook on one side for 6-8 minutes. Our chef last night left it on the grill 1 minute and 40 seconds because I timed him. Save your gut and go somewhere else!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had one of the worst experiences ever here. Upon coming with a friend we decide to sit at sushi counter out of comfortable convenience. We are greeted by two different servers. Everything starts smoothly, however things get worse. We place orders and then our process just takes entirely too long. In the span of about an hour and fifteen minutes we finally received our food. Although our servers perhaps said about 15 words to me and my friend in that span? Sorry but if my food is going to take long please notify me of why its going to take that long and try to accommodate me for such. Im personally in the customer service industry and know for a fact had they communicated better to me it would not be this big of a deal. But the food came out cold, both servers seemed afraid to notify me of any update with my food. Ill never return to This Benihana location and its definitely the worst location of all in the DFW Metroplex. Terrible experience.

My husband called to make a reservation, the girl on the phone told us the earliest reservation she had available was at 8:15. I heard all of this because he had her on speaker. We show up for our dinner and the hostest first cant find our reservation and then when she does its for 8:45! we would have never agreed to a reservation at 8:45! We would have gone somewhere else! She then tells us we might have called a different Benihana. So I show them our call record showing that we called their store not some other and the manager then gets involved and says they will sit us when possible. So we trying to be positive go to the Sushi bar and decide to just eat there, we sit there for 10 minutes and never once did anyone help us or get us a menu even though they saw us sit down. This is the worst service Ive ever gotten! Ridiculous! We are now going somewhere else. I will find another hibachi restaurant to go to.

As far as the Benihana experience goes, this was spot on. Ive always loved the food and the ginger sauce you can dip into. Surprisingly, the bartender made a great martini for such a little bar. But, you dont go to Benihana for the bar experience. We were seated fairly quickly, only because we sat with a family that had young kids. Next time we will go with friends to have an all adult conversation around the table. The wait staff was not very attentive in refilling our water or getting our next drinks from the bar in a reasonable timeframe. I also had to remind him that our menu choice included dessert, which he tried to say didnt come with...so I had to ask for the menu back to correct him. Now the chef was talented and gave us a cute show without cutting off any of his fingers.

I love Benihannas but this time was terrible. Service was so slow. It took more than 20 min to be seated and we had a reservation at 6:15p. Our chef didnt start our meal until 7:40pm! Our chef had the grill up too high and it was burning our food. The onions and grill were smoking so bad that the table beside us had to move and they turned the fan on behind us. My eyes were burning too. The chef kept forgetting the shrimp appetizer and I had to keep asking him. I finally got it with my main meal. The chicken was dry and had no flavor. I didnt eat it. Also, I bit a piece of lobster and got a shell. It was not what I am used to and I am very disappointed. I will think twice before going there again.

Good food, good chef. Abysmal customer service and wait period. I cannot understand how it is OK to tell a party that their table is ready, then keep them waiting for 35 minutes before giving them the salad and soup. We had a 45min wait after walking in, which is fine, we could have left, but chose to wait 45 minutes. We were seated after 40, then it was another 40 minutes until our chef came out and started to cook. There was a long wait for drinks to be refilled, and we had to remind the waiter about getting our orders from the sushi bar before we left. We went on a Sunday night at 6:30 and left close to 9pm. This was a terrible experience and we will not be visiting this location again.
