My mom and I were passing through on our road-trip back to San Antonio and decided to stop by for a nice dinner with our friend, a recent Houston transplant, and decided we wanted to try something new. Right from the get go we were greeted by the lovely hostess, Isabel, who took us to the bar because the restaurant was not yet open for dinner service. We ordered the Fogo de Chão and the Brazilian Margarita at the Bar prior to having dinner and our bartender, Sandro was simply the best! His drinks were well crafted and its obvious that he is an experienced and seasoned bartender. The concept was the only thing that I personally had a problem with, yet our server Jake did a fine job of explaining. Daniel was also worth noting in his attentiveness. The quality of the food was top notch, and as is normal with foreign foods its hard to decide what to get but our server and the staff did a good job at guiding us. The service was wonderful, everyone including the floor manager Jarvis(sorry if I butchered his name) made sure to make us feel welcome and at home and that really was what made the difference since my mom and I have been traveling for 2 days. I do have to mention that the staff excluding leadership was a little bit pushy at up selling and intrusive at times but nothing too overbearing. The ribs and lamb were my favorite and all the meat cuts were incredibly cooked. In addition the salad bar was beautifully displayed and all the selections there were fresh and appealing. It was very refreshing to come somewhere were there is no dinner menu and just indulge in the experience. The wine list could have more a Texas wine selection but it isnt a big deal. The cleanliness and decor was an added extra. Im only adding this because they carry my favorite soap in the bathroom and in this all I must add that they should get tissue covers for the Klennex boxes. All in all this is a most try, and I foresee myself becoming a regular at the San Antonio location I just hope that it lives up to its Houston Counterpart.

MMMM MMMM MMMM. First off, I have to begin by stating that Im more of a side dish eater. Dont get me wrong, Im not a vegetarian and I do like meat.....I just get distracted by carbs and cheese and things of sort. So.....when my employee selected Fogo for our company holiday luncheon, I was excited, but not as much as I should have been. I was like.....Fogo....oh.....I heard thats a LOT of meat! AND.....it was a lot of meat. BUT....I loved it! Our group was very large so we were instructed to go to the "salad" bar by table...and our table was the last to go. After about 10 minutes of waiting with no hope of going to the salad bar within the hour, we gave up and asked a gaucho if we could start with meat. What a fantastic idea! Well....I kept forgetting to flip my card from green to red; so, I was continually presented with more meat. Before I realized it, there were a few pounds of meat on my plate. I feel bad for starving people in developing nations; so, I clearly had to clean my plate. The thing is that even without sides and a never ending pile of meat on my plate, I was delighted. My mouth had reached nirvana and my mind was being reincarnated. I can honestly say that of all the meats I had, they all were prepared and seasoned in a fashion that made them delectable and I never once desired anything else. Which turned out good....because I never made it to the salad bar:) The only negative feedback I have is that cuts of lamb that I was served were both dry and almost if not actually burnt. Other than that, I had an outstanding experience and will definitely be back.

We came for a birthday looking for a nice dinner, loads of meat, and a unique salad buffet. Well, well just say, we werent left wanting on the meat front. The main objection is that despite the $50/person price tag, the dining experience felt like one in a Chinese buffet. The tables were so close together, you couldnt help but overhear your neighbors conversation and to get to the salad bar, you had to weave through tables like a labyrinth. Perhaps it was just too busy for our tastes on a Friday night and other nights are less crowded. We were just underwhelmed by the fast casual feel of the dining experience. The food was quite good -- lots to choose from on the salad bar and the meat was prepared well. The beef was excellent, chicken and lamb just OK. The lamb chops we had were over-salted though tender and the chicken was overly smoky. Stick with the beef! Especially amazing were the ribeye and filet mignon (surprise, surprise!) The salad bar had a good variety of veggies, charcuterie, prepared salads and a section with hot fish, rice and beans. Lastly, they also bring out cheese bread rolls and sides to each table -- sweet plantains, fried polenta and mashed potatoes. All are excellent. So in a nutshell, I would not recommend this place for a date night. There is nothing romantic about sitting too close to your neighbors and stuffing your face with unlimited meat that you dont even have to lift a finger to have deposited on your plate. It seems like it was pretty popular for groups though.

The service was great to a certain point. And the food was good until the last few cuts of meat. After the manager sees that you have had too much in his opinion they begin to salt the meat to an extremely exaggerated amount, I almost choked on a small piece of beef skin due to the amount of salt they cooked it with. I wouldnt be surprised if I left that restaurant with deadly high blood pressure. Even if you havent had enough, they will decide for you they begin ignoring your table completely until they are sure you are done and want the check. The Gauchos or meat servers will ignore your table mercilessly, as if they had gone through years vigorous training to ignore your table. They also do this so that the eater feels some type of embarrassment for eating too much. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the servers they were extremely watchful and the salad bar had all kinds of things and cheeses which I loved, but if you want to go just for the meat it might not be too pleasant. Their strategies were too noticeable which made it look bad on them and for the price those strategies are pretty unfair. I wont be coming back unless I have someone I want to impress.

We had an less than pleasant dining experience this Saturday (12/11/16) evening. We visit fogo de chao on westheimer every year for our anniversary and have always had a very nice dinner with exceptional service from this restaurant. This year was a little different. I will admit we made a huge mistake in not making reservations but other years weve walked in without reserving a table and were sat within 15 minutes of arriving. This Saturday we walked in and were given an hour wait time. We figured no problem as long as we could find a seat at the bar. We did, and we had a few good drinks. After an hour and a half we were buzzed and we walked to our table. The waiters were literally jogging around the restaurant. Felt like we were at a Golden Corral. The meats came out few and far between. The sides also came late. We had our card green side up the whole time and watched at least 10 gauchos walk right past us with plenty of meats on the skewer. Will probably consider other options for our anniversary dinner from now on.
