I went to the Dat Donut on 82nd and Cottage Grove since its located in my community. The time was about 3:50pm on August 13. Unfortunately, the middle aged woman that waited on me had a terrible attitude from the moment I stepped to the counter. On top of that, she misheard me and made a mistake with my order and when I pointed that out, she began fussing and blaming me for the mistake in my order. Mind you, I said it pleasantly. If you work in customer service, be pleasant to the customer. It wasnt a complicated order, nor was I being difficult or unpleasant back. I think she needs to be trained or placed in another position away from people because its tiring dealing with unpleasant workers. It takes less energy to just be nice. Anyways, I went there because the donuts are always good, but I think Ill take my money elsewhere until the service gets better.
Donuts are a tradition in my office for any occasion warranting a treat. Im generally not a fan, and always skip out to avoid heartburn. Someone recently left boxes from Dat Donut in the breakroom to celebrate a promotion...and passing through, the smell was so intoxicating I could not resist a peek or a taste. I tried half of one, and went back for another half later in the day. Not too greasy, nor was the glaze too sweet! If you are passing through the Chatham area, I would certainly plan a stop.
So the jerk rib tips I ordered were good, but more hot than I was expecting. The service, however, is awful at this establishment. The people act as though you owe them something personally when youre the patron. Everyone seems to have a look of disgust of their faces. This is definitely not the type of service that I am used to. I will not be visiting this establishment again based upon the service alone!
I LOVE making the trip to this place for my sweets. I am born and raised on the south side of Chicago and this is definitely a staple! No question I am willing to bypass several Dunkins for these large, home made, buttery-soft delights. Dont buy these and let them sit around long, while they do keep a million times better/longer than store bought, itll cause you to miss out in that warm excitement ;-)
My favorite donut shop! The glazed donut is fresh with a perfect ratio of glaze to dough. The outside of the donut is hard and the inside is soft and tastes like heaven. Better than any donut that Ive had, going here is worth the drive and you will not regret it!
Very tasty donuts. But the variety sucks. Unless you come in the wee hours of the morning, your choices of donuts are greatly reduced. Why dont they simply make more throughout the day? Thats like having a shoe store but you only sell 3 types of shoes. Sad.
I have travel far and wide, I have tried just about every donut and coffee shop, however; none by far have ever come close to the five finger licking good as Dat Donuts. And the coffee is so smooth, you will want to order a large.
These are some of the best donuts in Chicago. While I thought that being so big they might not be as tasty, I was gladly mistaken. Theyre delicious, and absolutely worth the trip to the south side.
Im always up for a good fresh donut so a friend and I went to Da Donut and was amazed with the variety. My favorite is the lemon filled which I can eat all day. Donuts are fresh and hearty.
My all time favorite donut place. I absolutely love the "big dat" both glazed and chocolate covered. Always fresh and you can actually see them making them which I think is super cool.
Just an all around great donut place. Its kind of in the middle of nowhere, but they make by far the best donuts Ive had in Chicago. Prices are really low and the donuts are huge!
Best donuts in the city, hands down. Better than stans, glazed & infuzed and all those other hipster joints. Good customer service for the most part too. Keep up the good work!
Every time I Go There Its The Same 2 Unprofessional Girls, With Nasty Attitudes, Like If Yall Dont Wanna Work......... Stay At Home!! GOOD DONUTS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
Doughnut the size of my head and its delicious I usually have the glaze or pineapple. Great product at a fair price not too much sugar great texture. A+ Doughnut
The donuts are big and home made. Once you eat these youll never want a Dunkin donut again. These are the best Ive had in chicago yet. And the price is good too.

This is The Place to Go; Especially if You want Some Fresh Pastry. Everything is Always Good. And The Service is Always Pleasant. Youll leave A Tip; For Sure.
The donuts are delicious. The helps disposition is pleasant, with the exception of one bad encounter with the help and I have not seen that individual again.
I love this place!!! From the Turkey, egg and cheese croissants to the ALL NATURAL fruit smoothies!!!! If you havent been you definitely should go!!!!
YES, DAT DONUT! It was so good I had to go back for a 3rd and 4th donut. Also had my first ever pineapple donut and I gotta say it was pretty great!
Great donut shop. They are know for their giant glazed donut witch is fantastic, youll skip your next meal if you have it. Cash only if I recall.
I would love to go back in here and buy a dozen for the office. I love things that would make people happy and this place makes people happy.
It also doubles as a rib joint and the food is very good and their service is friendly and timely. Waaaay better than that Barbara Ann joint.
Omg I wish they were closer. I went with a family member who lives in the area and I would travel the distance just to get another one!
They have the larges donuts in the City they sell they are good when there heat up great places for families and friends to buy glaze
Takes me back to that dounut shop under the train on 63rd Halstad when I was a kid. Good fresh tasty the best around. Chicagos best
Biggest donut Ive ever seen. Eats like a meal, and even better when warmed up. If you do not experience Dat Donut youre missing out.
This donut shop is a hidden gem. Known for their giant glazed donuts. Dont leave without trying one of the strawberry frosted donuts.
Definitely a place you stop by when youre in the area. The apple fritters are huge. Next time Ill try the lemon and carmel donuts.
Man these donuts are fire!! 24hours too! Omg, i like every donut too, they dont make those weird ones, they just make good ones..

if its good enough to lure a group of white kids from connecticut into the south side its good enough for you
Donuts are fresh and coffee is alright, wish they had bagels instead of croissants, But it is what it is.
DAT was AMAZING!! Dat-licious.
Donuts shouldnt be crunchy...but she did explain it to me though. Some family recipe she stated.
Good stuff. Money gotta be right . Small coffee 3! Love the coffee shots and breakfast sandwichs
Friendly service. Fresh donuts made from scratch. Great breakfast sandwiches and coffee.
