This was a second time I had visited Saganos. The first was in Flint and it was horrible, however, I decided to try Saganos Brighton as I was told it was great by an acquaintance. Well it was just as horrid. First let me tell you that the service is subpar. When we arrived the hostess was back joking around with the sushi chef. Having saw my fiance and myself walk in they finished their conversation before attending to us. Then the hostess had to look for a seat in an empty restaurant. When the waitress came to serve us she was very aloof and seemed to hover over our table as if she wanted to join in our conversation. It was a truly awkward experience service-wise. So our sushi arrives and immediately I smell a faint fish smell which I know is not normal for sushi. When she leaves I inspect my order which was: a vegetable roll (which was wrong I believe I was given an uonami roll), a spicy tuna roll, and a tnt roll (which is spicy tuna with roe and chili sauce.) Well needless to say it all looked odd, smelled weird, and upon tasting it knew something was not right. I even went as far as to ask the server if the tuna used was canned. The tuna was very light in color, very bland in taste, and smelled like no other sashimi grade tuna I have ever had before. The server assured me it was fresh, however another server had told me that they have been trying other "mixtures" as they have had many complaints. Mixtures? Well, what is there to mix it is suppose to be raw tuna. After further research I believe Saganos is still using Escolar tuna. I say this because after my initial flint visit I was very sick. Well after voicing our disappointment the server said she would discount our bill as we had only eaten 2 pieces from 3 rolls. We initially get our bill and she had discounted me 1 roll at $7. I then had to talk to the manager who I knew was aware to get all the sushi taken off the bill. This is the last time I will ever visit a Saganos and I would definitely not recommend the sushi to anyone. IMO mikis in Ann Arbor is far better and I would imagine as they also own sushi zen they would be decent as well. I dont know why all the other reviews have ranked this place as even decent. I am from Toledo and this place would not last more than a few months there in the highly competitive sushi market.

Undercooked chicken ruined my belly. There was a bit of a wait but thats ok because we hadnt made reservations. Once we were seated there was no waitress or cook for about 35 minutes. They were all so very kind, even the cook gave us a great show. While eating I felt like something just wasnt right with the chicken. We usually take our food home after the show, so after a few bites thats what I did . When I got him I really didnt need to warm the food as it was still hot but I began chewing on a very rubbery piece of chicken, I show my boyfriend and he says its just chicken fat and tosses it. But I remember seeing no fat before the chicken was put on the flat top. Unfortunately throughout the night I had a terrible belly ache, even woke up feeling a bit nauseous and clammy. Come to find out my boyfriend isnt feeling well either. We check the chicken and most of it isnt done. I believe the cook was so focused on entertaining us, and finishing up because we were the last table to leave. I wouldnt say that I wouldnt go back. But never so close to closing time again.

Weve been going to Sagano for 4+ years, we knew Wayne well when he was the manager. Yesterday around noon I made reservations for my husband and I for habachi table, I specifically said it was a special occasion for the two of us, and if it wouldnt be too much trouble wed like Tee as our chef (he was our chef the first time we started going to the restaurant.) We arrived at our reservation on time, and the woman manager walked us over to our habachi table....full of children. Now, my husband and I have NOTHING against children, but I specifically stated in the reservation that it was a special occasion. Poor form on the managers part, we got up and left, went to Brighton Bar and Grill. If this were a single incident, Id brush it off. But the seafood quality has diminished as well, lobster tails and shrimp are smaller in the last 2 years. My family owns restaurants, so far this establishment looks like its floundering a bit from the quality it used to be.

Price: Like 20 dollars a person or something... i dont care my dad paid. Atmosphere: I felt uncomfortable . There are people watching you at all times. I couldnt take a bite without making sure no one was lookin im just so self conscious. Experience: The dumb chef threw a piece of chicken in my hair. Although i will say that the wingspan of my hair is quite wide it almost acts as a net. I am uncomfortable when the dumb chef makes jokes and makes loud noises with his utensils, he almost made me cry and it was awkward. Aftermath: Evertime i go to saggyganos I want to be excited, but then exactly two hours after i get home I have to rush to the toilet with a case of diahphrama. it sucks ... Taste:noodles are good. vegges are gross. chickedn is thick and hard to take. fried race is bland. and the salad is full of peanutes. Overal Score: 3/50 will not come again, abut if i do.. i will be in the bathroom two hours later.

Terrible service. I have had 3 terrible experiences here. #1: My sushi roll was delivered to me on time and my husbands did not show up until an hour later. I was already finished. Not once did they say sorry or try to rectify the situation. #2: Always check your carryout before you leave. My avocado rolls were made with rotten avocado. Obviously the person who is making the sushi rolls knows the avocados are rotten. #3 The real kicker (and why I will NEVER go back there) is I called to place an order for pick up and they stated they were not taking carryout orders because they were too busy. What kind of business turns away paying customers! I dont care how busy you are... thats ridiculous! Sushi Zen is the place to go. Skip this place.

I am disappointed that they no longer have sushi. The hibachi food is good and the entertainment is always nice. However, I made reservations for a surprise birthday party and the hostess was making me feel very rushed due to the fact that the birthday girl was 10 minutes late. She made me feel bad about the amount of time it was taking to get started and I got a rude vibe in general from her. The rest of the staff was great. I would eat here again but I definitely wouldnt make a party reservation because God forbid the surprise guest is 10 minutes late, the whole place might fall apart.

Staff is rude, from the waitress to the hostess. The bartender was MIA for about 20 minutes with a bar full of people waiting for drinks. We decided to give the place another shot and same thing. I went in with my son last Monday night, the hostesses were nasty, and I was told there was at least a 30 minute wait, the place was empty! Im assuming its because we were a party of 2 and not a big group and they were hoping we wouldnt wait, which we didnt. This place was great years ago, its really gone down hill. I will not return again.
