Get here now! Update 8-7-17: So my first visit to this place was memorable as you can tell by the above review. On my second visit about a month ago 5 of us showed up at 2:15 and were told we would have to get it to go as they were getting ready to close!?! The posted hours say 3PM! We had to ask if we could sit out front at their tables and they said yes but not to leave any trash! Ok so maybe it was a slow day and they had some pressing matter they had to attend to. I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt this time. Well this past Saturday August 5, 2017 a group of 10 of us (yes TEN people) decided to go here for some of that kick-ass ramen that they serve. We arrived at about 1:45 and to my utter AMAZEMENT they had a sign on the door reading "closed because of heat, TAKE OUT ONLY" WHAT?!? It was in the 80s Saturday, and have you heard of a fan? You know, the thing that moves the air around and COOLS you off? Needless to say we walked a block to mandarin cove and had a great time. Anyhow, if you like their food I would recommend heading over as soon as possible. I have been in the restaurant business for a while and I can tell you this place wont be around much longer if they keep turning people away like this. I, and the ten people I brought out on Saturday, will not be back. :(

Went to The house of Ramen to eat dinner saturday. Since i come from Japan i was looking forward to trying their ramen, got there the place was pretty much empty the waitress that seemed shut out told us their were out of Chasyu, so i had the BBQ Pork with my Kyushu style Ramen. While waiting went to grab those free magazines and notice that the February issues are still all tied up and i couldnt get into any to read, the waitress is taking selfies with her cellphone...which is strange. Our Ramen comes and im still excited to try it, the tonkotsu broth definitely does not have a pork authentic flavor, but Ramen was still enjoyable. Now here is the reason why i hate it and will not go back and not recommend this place, coming home i just feel sick to my stomach, and end up staying all night in bathroom. I rarely go out to eat, and its a big dissapointment.

Id visit more often if I could! I live in Beaverton and sometime trek out here just to grab a bowl. Great taste, and fairly good portions. It can get expensive if you get it too often but its a great treat every now and then. House of Ramen is one of the few places Ive ordered where the food I was given looks so much better then what was pictured on the menus. Everyone Ive taken has gotten hooked. The only downside is that there arent more locations for convenience. The isnt much seating but you can order to go, and wait times arent that bad honestly compared to the quality of food and size your getting. Can prove difficult to get a meal in time if youre not one of the first in line but I think that says something... Try it if you havent. Its a nice little joint to be aware of.

This was the most horrible place we ate at in all of Portland. Definitely NOT traditional ramen. It is not even made in house. The noodles are not prepared traditionally, they lack the alkaline flavor. The restaurant is mis-managed they run out of ingredients and do nothing to compensate. The miso tastes like msg, it must be instant... something powdered. I literally couldnt finish this. Over-priced instant fake ramen served up by what Im guessing were some anime nerds who decided to open up a ramen shop. I still cant believe they dont make the noodles. no point at all to the place. Oh! I forgot the Gyoza! Terrible flavor, frozen and packed. disgusting! If you cant cook, dont open a restaurant! Reheating packaged food is not cooking!

Heard a lot of good reviews of the place and have been looking for a good ramen place. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. I walked in and literally saw college ramen( in accordance of the cheese as a topping). Now, I wanted to give it a shot and I did. I ordered #6 on the menu. Flavor wasnt there, noodles were obviously packed and the meat was too dry. The main thing that didnt stomach well with me was the conversations of things being "expired" and "pushing them out" while I was waiting for my food. Definitely uncomfortable, regardless of whatever the conversation was. Overall not a place Id be going back to. Although good effort with presentation and service.

This place sucks. Went here at a workday noon. The average waiting time is 30-35 minutes. After 40 minutes wait, the waitress told me that messed up my order. She kept telling me that my order is about to ready, but 10 minutes later, the chef still even not started to cook my noodle. Then when the waitress brought my noodle to me, she spilt the hot soup on my legs, and she just left without doing anything to help me out. At the same time, the noodle is not tasty at all, just an average noodle at most. I cant believe I was almost missed my flight because of it. In general, a really horrible experience.

What a treat! My sister and I found out about this place and didnt get a chance to try it until tonight. Man, the wait was worth it! The service was super friendly, the music playing made our nerdy hearts happy, and the décor was tight and cohesive. Of course, at the core of it all was the food. We were blown away by the taste and left with big smiles on our faces. I didnt have a favorite Japanese restaurant until today. All the ingredients were fresh, well cooked, and flavorful. Well DEFINITELY be back, and Im eagerly anticipating my next visit already!

10/05/16: 4.5 out of 5 - Ive been here many times and I believe I have left an ongoing review of House Ramen. Seems like my reviews are dropping off. If that wouldnt be good if that was the case.. Regardless, I gave House of Ramen the rating it deserves. The staff are nice and accommodating. The place is clean and ample seating. And yes, the Ramen prefixes are very good. If you dont like the prefixes, then go for making your own bowl. Either way, you cant go wrong. Try this place out once and decide for yourself. Enjoy!

This is the best ramen Ive found in Portland. Expect to pay about $10 for a bowl of ramen. The flavor is great, but what really puts it above the others is the amount of ingredients included in the bowl. I find that I get way more meat, cheese, and other non-noodle toppings in my ramen here than in most other locations. As a result, I leave full and satisfied. Theres a great selection of broth, noodles, and toppings, along with the option to add eggs, gyoza, etc. This makes a great lunch stop if you work in the city

I love the house of ramen. The food is always consistent. The broth choices and noodle size are just enough so not to confuse you or make the menu seem overwhelming. The staff is very helpful and there attitude and personalities are always upbeat and I love how they believe in the product that they sell. A great location and small venue make it a great lunch time stop. This place is a weekly lunch time place for me and my coworkers and friends. Stop in and give it a try, you wont be sorry.
