Tonight was our last trip to Mission BBQ. We have been going to this location since it opened regularly. It was our favorite restaurant for a long time. We have noticed that it has been going down hill. The meat is never consistent. Tonight my wife ordered her usual which had the texture of beef tongue and was unusually tough. Brought it back and the new was the same. The one thing that has been consistent is the cold meat they serve. We have complained to the corporate office and management, and our meat was still room temperature at best. Dont bother telling the manager on duty, he just argues with you saying the meat is 150 degrees. If room temperature is 150, then I guess he is correct. Even the spigot in the mens bathroom has been broken for so long it pathetic. It has one handle that you push down for a timed amount of cold water to trickle out. As far as time, it gives you none, it pops back up immediately. So you can only wash one hand while holding the lever down with only cold water. I have let them know every time we are there. So I will be looking for a different BBQ restaurant in Wilmington from now on. Its sad because the food is really good, they dont seem to care about the details which is a health hazard.

Mission BBQ in Wilmington NC catered a fundraiser on Carolina Beach for Jeep Go Topless day. I happily paid in advance for 2 BBQ plates at the cost of $12 each. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre and the portions were miserly. Seeing as they had a head count before coming to the event, this was unacceptable. The servers easily took multiple trays of food back to the restaurant, most likely to be thrown away. I got my meals late, just before they were going to stop serving and to provide the portions they did was a shame. Too bad as the cause was a good one. Much better BBQ can be found almost anywhere. I will guarantee attending this event again and also guarantee NOT buying a lunch from Mission BBQ.

Im incredibly confused about why there are so many rave reviews for Mission BBQ. Let me be clear, Im from and have lived in New York my entire life, so Im aware that Ive never had the best BBQ in the country, but this was just bad food. The Brisket was dry even though I elected for the juicy rather than lean. The Spare Ribs were underwhelming in both sauce flavor and moistness. The corn bread seemed like it was bought at a supermarket. And the price for how much food you actually got was astoundingly high. Ive had more, better BBQ at a gas station in NY, for less money than at Mission. This is certainly no Dinosaur BBQ, so dont get your hopes up if you think this place will be great southern BBQ.

Amazing BBQ. Im from Kansas City, home of some of the best beef and BBQ in the nation, and they even impressed me. They have all the meats, a ton of great sauces from all over the map, and fantastic sides. Try the mac and cheese - its baked in house, full of real cheese, not the nasty cafeteria mac you usually find at BBQ places. There is a great drink selection too, both alcohol and dry. Im a beef brisket fan, but you should also try the turkey - yes, really. Its awesome. They have everything from Carolina pulled vinegar pork to Memphis style ribs and smoked sausage. If you like meat, you will like this restaurant. Staff is friendly and enthusiastic about food, and they have a great ambiance.

I was a little skeptical about a chain bbq restaurant, and sure, theyre not the best ribs Ive ever had, but they were fall -off-the-bone and good. The service is the reason for 5 stars: fast and beyond friendly. My mom chatted up the manager about how shed just moved to Wilmington and the manager brought us dessert to welcome her to town. She (the manager) was also great at getting anything we needed, was so kind, and I saw her treating other customers the same. Its really clear she cares about a great customer experience, and that makes all the difference. I know mom and I will be back.

Great food! Staff was awesome! Best and tenderest brisket, fantastic pulled pork and your choice of sauces. Just put on what you like! My wife had the green beans and was suprised to find that they didnt have that mass produced taste. a MUST TRY! My only heartbreak: They dont offer military/police/firefighter discounts and they donate proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project. Itd be better if they donated to an organization that actually did something for us veterans and wounded warriors instead of take all the money and keep it for the higher ups. Maybe donate it to the DAV

I thought the way Dad made it would always be the best, but Mission BBQ startled me with their smoked Brisket, Baby and Spare Ribs, Pulled pork and more! Everything was Dry Rubbed so that we had the option to put whichever of their 6 inhouse made sauces on top to compliment. They have a week where they give free sandwiches to veterans of all branches of the military, and free sandwiches to people on their Birthday. They salute the flag with the national anthem at 12:00 everyday. No better place to have BBQ in Wilmington!

Great atmosphere in main part of restaurant and we appreciate their open support of the military (and other services). Food is good, but not spectacular. First time going and we tried a variety of the meats (did not try the pulled pork). Portions for price are small, but they are open about it on the menu. But low rating is mostly because of distasteful decoration in the mens restroom. Why should my son (or anyone else for that matter) have to look at scantily clad women, when using the bathroom after a meal?

Absolutely incredible experience. Best BBQ in the Southeast, the most tender moist brisket I have ever had. I would give Mission BBQ a 6 star rating if I could, and I never say that. Teto, the kitchen manager is an awesome guy, just genuine and knows what he is doing for sure! On top of making the best BBQ and sides I have ever eaten, they also give back to the Wounded Warrior project, right on!!! If your still reading this, put the phone down and just GO! You wont regret it. --SJC

Last night was my first time eating Mission BBQ and I decided to try it before I left Wilmington. Andrea was my hostess and she was very friendly, helpful, and welcomed me to the restaurant with a beautiful smile. I came in wanting to try a taste and left with a to go bag full excellent food...right down to the Caramel Bread Pudding that she had recommended was very delicious, I totally agree. Even the sweet tea was perfect amount of sweetness...I definitely recommend this place!!!

I got a full rack of ribs, they were fast, they were friendly, the ribs tasted good and they gave me 3 different sauces to take with me. The fries were terrible. Ive been nauseous all night. So, although they tasted good, they also made me sick, if I had to guess, I would say they werent cooked enough but who knows. They have a lot of good reviews so maybe it was just that one time I got unlucky, Ive been eating out a lot lately so its bound to happen, but I wouldnt risk it again.
