I went to this bar last night for the first time and the last. Friends of mine who have frequented the place recommended we go there to celebrate a friends birthday. This turned out to be a big mistake. The bartenders were nice, the beer selection was great, and we could even ignore how dirty the place is because we knew it was a dive bar. BUT we could not believe the scene we witnessed and the way the management handled it. A visibly drunk and aggressive man caught our notice, and I wondered, as a bartender myself, how these girls could justify continuously pouring shots. The man followed another man into the bathroom and attacked him. We alerted the bouncer out of concern when the loud thumps and crashing noises went unnoticed by the staff. The bbouncer roke up the fight, at which point the aggressive man yelled out an incredibly offensive racial slur, which I hardly need to quote. The spoke to the managers several times, each time being told that the owners would not throw him out of the bar because "hes a nice guy when hes sober" and that "hes a regular who drops hundreds of dollars weekly" This is unacceptable. We were so offended that despite the excellent beer and prices we will never come back. If we want to hear that type of language and be forced to be subjected to the threat of violence, we would go to a KKK meeting. Im flabbergasted by the owners of this bar who would rather lose the business of good and responsible patrons like us than offend a racist drunk who assaults other patrons.

I was once told by the owner of this fine establishment that in order to have a successful "irish pub" you need 3 things...1.Cheep Drinks, 2. Drunk Bartenders, 3. Dirty Bathrooms. Belmar has it all. With an amazing group of regulars and steady influx of new comers, this little dive bar will not let you down. Never a shortage of Jamison, in fact is the #1 Jamison account in NY and ranked 4th in the US. I once equated The Belmar with "The Island of Misfit Toys" due to the eclectic batch of regulars ranging from city mayors to the downright weird. Never a shortage of great conversation. With some of the best bartenders in the triple cities, you are never waiting for another drink and your wallet wont hate you in the morning. Never a cover charge for live music 3-4 nights a week ranging from rock to bluegrass to funk, and an amazing selection on the jukebox (and not one of those internet jukeboxes that will cost you $1 per song), to keep your ears happy. With taco night on Mondays (50 cents each) and wings on Tuesday, The Belmar kitchen surpasses any "greasy spoon" restaurant in the area. Fantastic burgers, all your fried favorites and of course spedies are among the many items cooked to order on a top notch bar menu. A little bit of everything for everyone can be found at The Belmar. A place locals have called "home" for years, no one is out of place, and everyone is welcomed.

I have to admit that Ive always been partial to "dive bars". The Belmar is definitely a dive bar. Nothing fancy. No Internet juke box or games and limited seating. The tap beer selection is quite extensive and the kitchen turns out some fantastic food at reasonable prices. Id say the burgers are the best of any Ive ever tasted. A hodgepodge of blue collar workers, business men, out of work artists and bikers occupy the bar during the afternoons and while those people are what makes the Belmar great the evenings and weekends bring the local college kids and musicians in for the scene. You cant help but strike up a conversation and make a few friends here.

Lets start with the burgers. They are AMAZING. Dont let the look of this place throw you off, was the best burger Ive had in binghamton. My recommendation would be get your food to go, the 1 star short of 5 is because the atmosphere was horrible. Was 5pm, and there was about 6 people screaming including the bartender. And unfortunately the place is to small to move away from that kind of behavior. The cook was very nice, came out and asked how our food was as well. So try a burger! But dont eat in.

Awesome food when Kayla is working. Love most of the bartenders. Miss some who were let go. Over all a good place to go and listen to music if you like live bands and classic rock. Thursday night poetry reading is a fun night followed by an awesome local band. Monday night open mic seems to be nice as well. The jukebox has some awesome classic rock songs that make for good drunken singing with friends. Good place solid 4 stars

Its a great local joint. Its a neighborhood bar like they are supposed to be. If you are looking something fancy with waiters and barkeeps catering to church mice then this wont be your place. Good people. Good beers and fun music and atmosphere.

Very friendly, warm, welcoming environment. Wonderful jukebox selection and really cheap jamo. Shouts out to the Taco Tuesday chef, and of course, the lovely Katie.

Is an Irish pub that is conveniently located with cheapish beer and good bar food. They have a backyard that is open in the summer which is very relaxing.

Crowded dive-bar with decent shot prices and a few good beers. The place is small and packed, but the only place really open after 9pm on a Sunday.

Old, old bar with charm. Kind of a whole in the wall, but probably the best burgers around.
