Im incredibly torn on my review. I kept praying that it would get better but it never did. My only reason for 2 stars instead of one, is because they took all of our food off the bill without us asking, proof they knew they did poorly. This was meant to be the final meal for our family of 12 total that was in town visiting. We actually live above the restaurant and decided to finally give it a shot. So heres my list of things that went wrong. Had it just been one or two small things I would have avoided all of this and delivered a much higher rating. Heres the list in order of events. 1) It took 20 minutes to bring us our drinks, most of which were still missing halfway through the meal. 2) Our wine glasses were covered in fingerprints and lipstick that the dishwasher clearly missed. 3) We were hastily given a stack of mini plates for the appetizers and told to hand them out ourselves (in a rude manner). 4) 30 minutes after sitting down I had to ask the manager why our order hadnt been taken when other tables after us were already eating. 5) We were given other tables food so the rest of us had to wait another 20 minutes before we could all eat. 6) Our kids plates (2 and 3 year olds) were hot enough to cook an egg. Not sure why youd hand a kid a plate thats been sitting under a heat lamp for 30 minutes. 7) Our food was cooked too long, not enough, and most missing parts that we had asked for. 8) Our waitress was clearly over it. She was genuinely nice in the beginning, but became overwhelmed between several tables. She offered reasons why our service was bad, but never accepted responsibility herself. The only time we "complained" was when we had waited for so long to order, otherwise we remained patient and tried to make the best of our final meal together. As a disabled veteran, I was excited to try out a place to eat owned by a veteran as well. The Marine flag in the window always brings a smile to my face. Id love to give this place a 2nd chance for my family or just a date night with my wife. Everyone that sat at the bar seemed to receive great service and was happy, but looking at the customers sitting at the table was clearly different. Everyone seemed displeased by the service and had a look of dissatisfaction. To the owner, Id love to change my review if youd like to invite us back for a 2nd try. Your management was incredibly nice in comping our food and handled our situation in a fantastic manner, even with us not saying anything bad about our experience at the time.

Pretty small place - Decided to head over during happy hour and the bar was already packed. Waitress didnt inform me of any specials going on, had to ask, to which I ordered the flight of beers and the fried mac n cheese. The in-house brews were lacking. Seemed to be in that "experimental" phase not much flavor or distinctiveness with each sip. I personally liked the coffee brown ale, but again tasted a lot like coffee...strange. Fried Mac n Cheese was good. Would I visit again? Ehhh, probably not. Their home brews leave much to be desired.

Awsome meal. Simply loved it!! BBQ chicken wings to start, were so good they would have been a great meal by themselves. Mac& cheese as sides (and the kids meal) were simply awesome, and my chicken was great! My wifes Crab cakes were better than the ones we had in a seafood restaurant the night before, and half the price!! Service was great, and friendly, and yes, they have some very good beer. Prices are reasonable for the area being close to the beach also. If you want some pub-grub, this is the place to go to in VA Beach!!

Took awhile for food, which is ok. Lobster bisque was runny, but tasted good. The crab cakes were barely warm, asparagus was under cooked and mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant. The well done kids burgers were burned on the edges and extremely small. The beer BBQ chicken was good but spicy. The galaxy burger was delicious. The waitress did however remove the crab cake meal without me asking. Get the burgers. They seem good.

Place was pretty much empty. Waited 10 minutes with no server in sight. Walked up to the manager (or possibly owner?) to ask if there is anyone available to serve us. He said he only has 2 staff members and that they are really busy. We looked around the room only to see crickets. There were about 3 tables with people who already had food on their table. The manager did not know where his staff went or what to do to help us. We left.

Awesome place with great beer, great food, and a friendly staff! First, there is nothing on the menu over $18. I had the Pork Tacos ($13)and got 3 huge tacos with great flavor. Second, the beer selection has something for everyone. The "Juice Sea Fruit IPA" is a must try. Beers run between $5.25- $7.75 depending on what you get. Its a little pricey, but if you go during Happy Hour they are $4. If youre in the area, try this place!

We got there, we got our drinks, we waited 45 min to get our order, someone that came 20 min after us ordered before us, they only had 1 waiter! We were mad, then we waited an hour to get our food, the burger was bad, the beef was crumply, cheese was not melted, mushrooms were worst mushroom I ever had, the bacon was ok. Us 2 were there for about 2 hours just to get a burger and sides Five Guys would easily beat.

This was a really cool place. You get the vibe the people here really love what they do. They had 8 beers on tap, four of their own and 4 from other local breweries. They also had a pretty good bottle list and a nice happy hour (3-7). My girlfriend and I got an appetizer that included the cornbread and bacon jam, the bacon jam was delicious!!! We are going back even though we are only here for a few days!

Arrived in VA Beach and went here the 1st night (Sun 7/2 @ about 6p). Place was empty, we picked our own table. Place sarted filling up about the time we left (745p). We did have to wait a bit for our food considering it wasnt busy, but went it arrived it was good. All 3 of my kids (14, 12, 10) enjoyed their meals and wanted to go back another time. My Applewood BBQ Bacon Burger was tasty.

amazing atmosphere, super friendly staff, delicious food and great beers. we got there late on a Monday night, after the kitchen had closed and were immediately offered some of their delicious from scratch desserts and in house brewed beers. Afterwards the server told us about a few of the other hidden gems in the area. couldnt say enough good about Home Republic.

The food at this place is OUTSTANDING. Even if you dont like cornbread you must try the bacon jam. It is delicious. Wings were great as well, falling off the bone and very tasty. The burgers ware a home run as well. One waitress Sarah was excellent as well. Great place to eat. One nine that old and eleven year old enjoyed this place as well.
