Ok. So maybe Im being picky but oftentimes we build up a places reputation from what others are saying. In this case we have heard rave reviews over and over about Wood Grill (WG). Its that reason that my wife and I took the drive to Charlottesville to experience the place and honestly...its mediocre. Lots of food does not necessarily mean good food. The best of the experience would certainly be the salad bar with just about everything there, (and fresh), that you could imagine. Really good. But the rest of the buffet was pretty typical fare: fried chicken, fried fish, fried shrimp, meatloaf, crab cakes which were not crab meat, ribs, etc. A good selection of breads and desserts. WG is great if you want a lot to eat and are not necessarily concerned about eating healthy or trying something new. The intact of salt left us both panting for water for several hours later. Now I admit, Im comparing the place to several of the other buffets that are more ethnic focused: King Buffet for instance which to us is a great experience with things youd never get anywhere else. So again, its a good place to eat a lot cheaply but we left feeling let down by the whole thing.

*sigh* This is kind of one of those places that youre curious about because the parking lot is packed, so you go in and theyre friendly and you order your drink, then you walk up to the buffet and you put something on your plate, then you keep walking around, and you struggle to find anything else appealing. You eventually sit down and your plate looks ridiculous, a random assortment of semi edible foods, only to discover that half are not really edible... And you regret your decision and youre still hungry but just want to leave and you get the check and its laughable how much they charged for how little of the incredibly low quality food that you ate. I mean I get it, its hard to provide good food for the vast majority who just want to engorge their bodies with as much mass as they can. For some reason I forgot this when I approached the building that had the word buffet on it. Oh well. Im glad other people enjoyed it.

Nasty people! I refuse to spend MY money somewhere that pays for wages for nasty people. All I did was call and this was my experience: Woods Grill (WG): "woods grill buffet" (sounding fast, barely understandable and in a huff like answering the phone was a chore) Me: "Hi, I was just wondering if you were currently on a wait?" WG: "Yes, 20 to 25 minutes." Me: "Okay, well we have a large party of 7..." TOTALLY CUT OFF BEFORE I COULD EVEN GET THE QUESTION OUT.... WG: (In a nasty tone) "I cant take a reservation, I told you the wait is 20-25 minutes." Me: "You didnt let me finish, I was asking if the wait would be longer since we had a large party?" WG: "Thank you, goodbye." (Hangs up) SERIOUSLY?????????? RUDE! RUDE!RUDE! Forget hiring and training someone properly; this isnt even how a decent human being behaves on the phone.

Good place to go if youre looking for a variety of food at a good price. The food is almost always great as well as the service. I didnt give it five stars because I did have an issue with the service last time I was there... I didnt let the waitress know but for some reason when my boyfriend and I went to go get our first plates the waitress moved our drinks and my purse over to the next booth over...I usually dont get angry about stuff but I really dont think you should touch other peoples personal things without asking.. And she couldve easily asked if we minded moving and I would have... :(

Customer service is awesome, food is great, breakfast is absolutely fantastic. Need days through the week for breakfast, at least add Thursday n Friday for people riding the bus and for those that work elsewhere on the weekends. Waiters n waitresses deserve a very nice raise. Dealing with the public and cooked food, one would have to be very patient, and should really be noticed, there are really, really mean people out there and you jus cant say or do whatever you want to a person you are serving or even bump into.

My family and I found this place on a trip to UVA Childrens Hospital. The staff here is awesome and friendly, and goes the extra mile to make you comfortable. Food is higher quality than most buffets you find, and theres a TON of options for a very respectable price. We tried it again a few months later when we came back to UVA, and once again they impressed us so much. We strongly recommend this place for price and service.

The first time me and my husband are here we stumbled upon this amazing place and so on the way back from the beach memorial weekend we knew we had to stop and eat again and it was amazing.. it gets better amd better we at planning a trip again soon for the whole family so his mom and GMA can try it .. its about 1hr and 40 min from us but so worth the drive ..the service is the best Ive ever had and the food is on point

Excellent food, esp the steak, and lots of meat varieties. Salad, desserts, and many more are all delicious. The servers are quick, easy to approach with, and friendly. The price is fine as well as the place is just fine with cleanliness. The only thing I observed is a very compact room area bec of many customers esp on special occasion with a long line outside. Maybe needs expansion early in the future.

I love this place. They have the best food you could ever put in your mouth. Is very clean there, and the staff is very friendly. If its your birthday and you go there and tell them, they will surprise you and make you a special treat. ;) Overall its very family friendly and nice and clean place to eat, I recommend to everyone in Virginia! Im always happy with every single visit!

Most buffets, over time, being to wear down and look worked over. The food quality and service also suffers BUT NOT THIS ONE! The Woodgrill Buffet in Charlottesville has, over the years, not only stayed quality consistent but continues to offer new and fresh items to their options. I greatly appreciate their customer service and it will continue to be a favorite spot for me.

We got to Wood Grill about 9:10 pm it closes at 9:30 on Thursday. The food was STILL FRESH, the bar was fully loaded and we were very surprised. The staff was very kind and attentive to our needs we didnt fell rushed although they were getting ready to close. The food was VERY good and we cant wait to go back although its about an hour drive from where we live. :)

Great service, clean fun environment. Delicious, seemingly onprem cooking. Cute staff, smiles, laughs. For special occasions only, as youd be sick otherwise, because piles of fried chicken breast will jump on your plate. Best choices: pulled pork, meatloaf, Oreo cheesecake, fried chicken tenders, and oddly, hot dogs. Good times.

They have EVERYTHING from soups and salads to carved meats, steaks, and chops, pizza, tacos, all kinds of home style vegetable and main course choices, fried or baked chicken, fried shrimp and fish, and of course, an entire section dedicated to freshly made and often decadent desserts.
