MET GEORGIA
Just returning from India House. It was close to Saint Paul downtown, just 10 mins ride. Me and my wife wanted to dine some Indian delicacies on Independence Day, as nothing else we had planned! Food: Not knowing that they serve bowl of rice with every order of a curry, we ordered 2 Naan and 1 Tandoori Roti (types of breads) along with Malai Kofta dish (creamy veggie balls) - medium spicy. It was really tasty! The Mango Lassi (milkshake) was little sour but tasted well after adding sugar. We also tried Samosa (triangular puffs filled with spicy mashed potato curry), were okay. Quantity: The curry with free bowl of plain rice and maximum one bread (Naan / Tandoori Roti / Paratha) per person should be good for two people. If not very hungry, order one bread per two persons. Service: The food came in just 15 mins. Check was also ready when we were done. Overall good experience with India House! Will visit it again sometime this month! Update 07/15 -- Today we had Lunch Buffet there: For vegetarians, they had good curries of green peas-potato, paneer (milk tofu), spinach-potato, and yellow split peas curry. All of those were tasty! In rices, they had plain white rice and pulav (colored rice with veggies). But pulav was just plain rice cooked with turmeric. In chat (snacks) they had only samosa (puffs stuffed with mashed potatos). I was disappointed here as I was expecting Panipuri/Bhelpuri etc most loved Indian chats. Sweets were good: Kheer (rice pudding), Rasmalai (milky balls), and mango fruit salad. Overall, delicious buffet but may be less varieties compared to the best Indian restaurants in Twin Cities... But would like to mention, whatever they served were truly tasty!!!

Good first experience! Read the review below about the Band-Aid. Thats awful! Hopefully the staff will be more conscious about food safety. Shouldnt have happened but its probably one of those once-in-a-million chances. I have quite a bit experience with the Indian restaurant industry (ownership, management, cooking, dining, etc.), so I always feel obligated to post comments after trying a new place out. Ordered takeout tonight at around 8:45pm. The restaurant was quiet though not empty, and the takeout order took 10-15 minutes, so not bad for a Saturday evening. Ordered regular naan which I ate in the car on the way home, so it was nice and fresh. Overall, great quality, and well worth the $1.99 in terms of size. Also ordered a mixed appetizer Vegetable Platter. Plentiful and filling, overall good taste, though Ive had better Paneer Pakora. The Mint and Tamarind Chutney were well-made as well. Last was the Vegetable Korma entree, medium spiced. It was creamy as korma should be, though it had a bit too much tomato base and had quite a few large pieces of potatoes. Spice level was right on, though! Plenty of rice was provided, which was nice! Overall, for $23, this was a plentiful, quality meal. I will be returning in the future to try out their other menu items.

First off, I will say that I havent eaten their buffet. But frankly, you shouldnt ever complain about a buffet. What do you expect when food sits under a heat lamp? Dinner was wonderful! We started out with Onion Pakora. It was served with two delicious sauces. One was a Tamarind Sauce that, unlike nearly every time I have a tamarind sauce, wasnt too sweet. The other was ground mint, cilantro, lime juice and a little green chile and both really accented the very simple appetizer very well. For entrees I had Lamb Jalfreezl and my wife had the Fish Masala. It came with a very generous portion of Jasmine rice that was cooked very well. Jasmine rice overcooked and mushy isnt very enjoyable. We really enjoyed both dishes. The lamb was tender and not over seasoned. They used salmon for the Masala and it was only $12! Our waiter was a rather quiet guy but answered a whole lot of questions. Our food was served hot and prompt. Our water glasses were never empty. The main thing I liked about this place in comparison to other Indian food Ive had is that it wasnt over oily. You usually find your dish swimming in ghee separated from the food. Not the case here. Well balanced, not over spicy and quite enjoyable. My wife and I will definitely be back.

The employees at this restaurant are extremely rude and inconsiderate. I was there last night and enjoyed some decent food, only to find out that my keys had been stolen while my coat hung on the booth. They were not helpful in any way whatsoever. They have cameras, but are unwilling to look at them. I have contacted the police with this matter. I will never go back to this restaurant purely on the sake that they were uncaring and unwilling to help with locating the keys. I received mixed answers as to whether the group behind my table paid by card or cash, which would allow me to know who took them. They refused to do anything about the incident since the people sitting behind my table are supposedly regular customers and they dont want to lose their business. I hope who ever took the keys the best and find it a rewarding find considering a religious keychain was attached to the set. God knows and sees all. If I had received better treatment by the staff and a willingness to cooperate, I would have most definitely returned and brought more business, but due to their immoral line of thinking, I will never return or promote their business.

I ordered online at 5:35, got a text telling me that they were ready to deliver at 6:45, and received my food near 8. Thats over 2 hours after when I was hungry. The food is pretty good. Not wait 2 hours good, but fine. Also, theres a mandatory $2 minimum tip. Normally for a $13 plate the tip would be more than that anyway, so it would be fine, but this is in addition to a $3 delivery fee? So I paid near $20. If the $3 is to cover the wage for the delivery guy why is there a minimum tip? Delivering food over an hour after you told me you were going to is not worth a $2 tip if you already are getting paid without it. This is actually the second time I ordered, as I assumed the first time was just an off day, but apparently not. Bottom line, food is good enough if you really want Indian, but dont ever order delivery. You will starve and die and get charged for it. If I was ever actually in the area and not bitter about it, I would consider stopping in to eat, so you can do that if the opportunity presents itself.

Have received years of excellent food and service at this restaurant. After years of running around to different Indian restaurants in the metro area I have finally realized this is the place to go so I just go there and dont bother with the rest! I go here for their buffet sometimes but more frequently for their dinner menu. The food has great flavor, you can get it to your exact spice level, and they dont nickel and dime you for things - if you want extra rice for your to-go box they give it to you, etc. The service of the staff at India House is excellent - I have never waited or wished theyd stop by for something. Overall this place is worth visiting if you love Indian food.
