I hate to do this because I love their food and the establishment, but I have to. On July 26th, I went in for a breakfast with a few of my friends and my boyfriend. Food was great, service was great. I paid with my debt card. Then on July 29th, three days after I ate there, I get an overdraft alert from my bank. I log into my bank account and see the I was charged THREE times from my visit on July 26th. Very upset, I call them immediately and they explain it was not their fault, but their car processing. Understanding now, I explain to the manager that my account was over drafted and he offered to pay for the overdraft fee. I never had a chance to go in to get my refund for my overdraft because of my work schedule, but I was refunded two days later. Then early morning on August 28th, I get ANOTHER alert from my bank saying my account was over drafted again. I look and see that Egg and I charged me AGAIN two times for my initial visit on July 26th. Unfortunately due to my work schedule I could not call them until September 2nd. I speak with another manager who apologizes to me. I explain to her how much this has hurt me financially especially since they both happened around the first of the month to pay rent. I continue to explain that I had just got caught back up after the first overdraft charges. She continues to apologize, but does not offer to cover for my overdraft fees. She says Ill be refunded. Then I wait. Today (September 11) I log into my bank account to see if Ive been refunded yet. I knew with the holiday weekend it could take awhile but I still hadnt been refunded. I call Egg and I and speak with another manager. She takes my name down and gives me a number to call to take care of the situation. She goes on to tell me that the owner had paid other customers out of his own business account, (and at this point I am confused and even more upset that the owner would not do this for me and she just gave me a number instead), and apologizes once again. Conversation over. I am going to go into my bank today and claim fraudulent activity, shut down my bank account and get a new debit card. I do understand this is not the establishments fault, but I felt they handled my situation very poorly. As a broke college student wanting to have a nice Sunday brunch with my friends and boyfriend, I have had a lot of finical and emotional hardship from this one trip. This entire situation has been appalling.

Waited 30 minutes before they would take our order. Average at best food. Service was terrible. I even saw a waitress ask a guest to bring the food out to the table for her and it was not busy. Took another half hour to process a check. Wont be back. And will tell friends and family not to go eat here. Honestly, for them to charge 18% gratuity because we had 9 people (5 which were kids) was terrible considering the waiteess only stopped once to refill water. Seriously, $14 tip for what? Then one child ordered cantilope. They cut it in half and served it. Took us 5 minutes to cut it ourselves. My son ordered grilled cheese and fries. He didnt even take one bite because the cheese wasnt melted and on whole wheat bread. They just asked if we wanted a box. How about asking, was something wrong? My son and i went to another room because he was crying and had his back turned to his food the whole time. Would really like a refund. Not one time did the waitress ask if everything was ok yet a 7 year old crying at the table. What kind of service is that? And by the way, im a manager of a restaurant myself and would be appalled if a guest was treated like that in my place. Business as usual here i suppose. Place was dated and dirty. Now that im thinking more about this place. It was disgusting. Really disappointed with this location. S lyndale. Wish i could go back in time and just choose another place. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. If i could do a negative star i would. And no, i wont be back and i better not get double or triple charged like another reviewer. And no, its not a 3rd party issue. Its your issue.

Firstly, let me start this review by saying that I went to this restaurant hoping that it would be affiliated with the excellent Egg & I eateries in Madison, WI, and Denver, CO. It is not. We read the google reviews before going, as we often do with new places, and we entered with low expectations. What we found was a place that is in need of thorough modernization, with uninspired menu items. The space that houses this place feels kind of like a church basement, with flimsy tables of varying sizes, dim fluorescent lighting, no cohesive pattern to the decorations, and few windows. I think they have a small sunroom, but there only seemed to be a few tables in it. Its a seat yourself establishment, so expect to wander awkwardly to find a table during busy periods. The food was acceptable. Nothing stood out about it. My one real complaint was that the hollandaise sauce didnt taste like, well, anything. I didnt know it was possible to concoct a hollandaise sauce this bland. Apparently it is. I ordered the Wild Turkey (turkey, wild rice, eggs) which was pretty good, and the lovely lady had Eggs Florentine (poached egg, spinach, tomato, over english muffin), which was also pretty decent. The hollandaise sauce put a damper on both meals. Service was relatively attentive. The coffee never ran dry, and our waitress was friendly. BOTTOM LINE: This place is in need of a serious renovation to bring some life back into it. As it sits now, there is nothing that inspires the customer to make a second visit. Its rare to run across a restaurant that is neither good nor particularly bad, but here it is.

Just got back from the Egg and I in Minneapolis. I went there with high hopes and a slight hangover craving for a good breakfast, having had enjoyed the East location for many years. When I arrived I ordered the Eggs Benedict and when it came out the eggs were like golf balls, Hard Boiled! Then after having to wave down my waitress, I showed her the eggs, and she looked at me like nothing was wrong, and I stated that Eggs Benedict highlights the yolk,m along with other things. Off she went and a few minutes later returned with a fresh plate.....nay, the same plate with new eggs and Even more Hollandaise drownding the mess. So, the eggs were ok, the Haollandaise completely bland and devoid of flavor, the canadian bacon looking and tasting like slimey meat from a steamer, and a english muffin that had NO signs that it had been within a 100 miles of a toaster...... Pushing it away from me, mostly uneaten, the waitress comes to me and says, "oh, have you had enough?" to which I respond I am not really feeling this, with obvious dissatisfaction on my face. She simply takes it away, and STILL charges me for the tasteless slimy mess. I am afraid my opinion of the Egg has been shaken greatly and it appears that they have abandoned good quality tasting food in favor of speed. Please, go back to taking a little time and producing a quality product and experience!
