You place your order at the counter and they bring it to you at your table, so it has a much more casual feel than other sushi restaurants (which may or may not be your thing). They brought the food out very quickly, and we were surprised to see how large their portions were. They are very generous with the size of their nigiri and maki, and the prices were very good ($3.50 for 2 pieces of nigiri, rolls around $5). Unfortunately, the fish was bland; probably frozen fish that had been thawed. Not terrible, but not great. I will say that they season the rice well, so that the nigiri tasted all right (especially at first) but there was not enough to camouflage the taste of bland fish in the rolls. The food fell apart a little, but this is not a big deal for a place that does not presume to be super nice. Overall, this place would great for a quick and cheap to-go lunch, but dont come here if youre looking for quality. (To the person who noted the overly-spiced tuna roll: Unfortunately, this is a way sushi restaurants will disguise not-so-fresh fish.)

Yoyogi Sushi reminds me of the small sushi restaurants in and around Boston, especially the cozy atmosphere. The value here is excellent for the quality of food served. The rolls are far bigger by comparison than any other sushi rolls Ive had at other restaurants. I would have given the whole 5 stars, except the spicy tuna roll was not prepared traditionally. Normally the roll has a little bite as far as spiciness goes, but here, the roll was doused with a fiery red sauce that was ridiculously hot and completely unexpected. The spice overwhelmed the fish. Ive had spicy tuna many times before as it is my favorite roll, and never had it prepared this way. Just a warning to those not expecting the level of spice delivered! Other than that, the experience was great and the price couldnt be beat. The green tea mochi was excellent as well, and Ive never seen miso soup for $1.00 anywhere else. Definitely recommended!

With this place you get what you pay for! My wife and I stopped in on a Monday night because several of our friends had recommended this place. The menu was basic, the fish was old and the portions were small. We actually walked out smelling like old nasty fish. Needless to say this was one of the worst sushi experiences we have ever had. If you have a car and you are looking for an affordable, amazing, high quality sushi experience with lots of variety, save yourself the time and money and drive the extra 5 minutes to Germantown and try Yuraku. Their fish is ALWAYS fresh, theyre ALWAYS busy, and the food NEVER disappoints.

I love getting sushi here. Me and a friend make it a point to come whenever possible. Everything is so fresh and tasty. Even though I didnt personally like some of the menu items they still tasted good. Their california rolls rock. Oh, but sometimes their tuna roll is not the best, but everything else is fantastic. The noodle dishes, the salads, the ice cream (red bean over green tea), their iced tea, the spring rolls. Youll be satisfied no matter what you order. Take out is the best as its crowded especially during lunch, but its still fantastic. Not to mention the prices, even after 3:00pm. Recommended most definitely.

Dont let the small hole-in-the-wall appearance of the restaurant fool you, Yoyogis is a great place for Japanese cuisine. Their sushi is very fresh and made before your eyes, and the prices are just absolutely fantastic. Their lunch specials are not to be missed, as well. Along with their sushi, Yoyogis offers great teriyaki bowls, and their food is always fresh and filling. After youre done with your meal, one thing is for sure - your stomach and wallet will both be feeling heavy.

The line is almost always out the door. That is how good they are. You should probably enter through the back door to order or phone ahead at nights. Lunch time is much more manageable and you will have no problems finding a table then. Be aware they are closed Tuesdays. Their miso is delicious, their edemame is delicious (but probably cooked in butter), and sushi is amazing. My favorite sushi is Sweat potato with cream cheese. Very good.

I love that my fiance and I can have a sushi dinner for under 20 bucks that great! They dont tendorize the fish, like most cheaper sushi places do. We are always in and out on friday nights for carry out which is a big plus! They always remember your order! So no corrections...its abit small..havent eaten inside yet since i prefer to eat at home.. But highly recommend! Cheap-Quick-Fresh and DELICIOUS!

Just tried this place, and LOVED it! Excellent value!! Fish was fresh and delicious. Oh, and man are they FAST! This is one of those places where you order at the counter (in true Japanese style)--the drinks I ordered were already at the table when I got back from ordering/paying, and everything else arrived within 5 minutes--no joke. Other points: - Definitely casual - No wine :(

I ordered a 75 piece sushi birthday platter for my sister and it was AMAZINGLY priced, and amazing tasting. It did not last long . I like how they also gave me a container for soy sauce to take home with the platter also that I was able to pick all the pieces I wanted. I have been to places that the platter is set to a specific layout but this was amazing. I found my regular sushi place

Ive been going here at least 3 times a month for the last 2 years... and I will continue to go until its too far to drive. The sushi is extremely simple and nothing like what you get in the trendy places in DC... no frills, just VERY good, VERY fresh, VERY cheap rolls. They have, in the last year, expanded to what was the Capoeira place next door, so they can seat about 40 more people!

The most fresh and tasty sushi that I ever ate in MD-DC-VA area and I love their lunch special menu. Place is a bit small and not the best looking, but it doesnt really matter when they cook such amazing and delicious sushi. Orders to go are ready in 10-15 minutes and you dont have to wait in the line in order to pick it up. Definitely recommend everybody to try them.

sushi is very poorly wrapped, and falls apart when you try to eat it, making for a messy experience that some may also find embarrassing. This isnt proper traditional japanese sushi, and its not made with much care, emphasis is on speed not quality. Waitress was dismissive and uninterested in my suggestions, although I was very polite and positive.

I lived in Japan for a couple years, and if this is the best sushi Gaithersburg has to offer, youre better off without it. The food was mediocre at best. The composition of the rolls was sloppy; the fish wasnt very fresh --- not the product of trained sushi chefs. Im not sure the positive reviewers have ever eaten decent sushi. Very disappointed.

Affordable from 3- 10 dollar meals. Perfect for lunch or dinner. Warm atmosphere with classical music playing in the room separate from order area, which is only heard in that room. View of the kentlands street is seen from within. Very relaxing even during a storm which was occurring during my visit. I WILL return to eat here again.
