Met friends here last night, Friday, for a few drinks and appetizers at 8:00. The place was 1/2 - 2/3 full and we got a booth right away. There was a bright spotlight track lighting display pointed right at us which was annoying . But, all of the tables were scattered in the open and had a sad, function hall vibe. The waitress was quick to come over though and ask for our drink order. It was too quick for us to have decided, so she circled back a minute later. Seemed attentive. We ordered a pizza and the bacon croquet special. The food came out quick and had decent ingredients, but unfortunately looked like it was made very quickly which was a disappointment. They were both scorched from high heat, but not cooked completely through. The four croquets were almost burned black and really hard to crunch through the breadcrumb crust, but runny and soft on the inside. The four croquets were also all dramatically different sized and one was squished open which surprised everyone. Still, we nibbled, chatted, and drank beers until the waitress past attentiveness became obnoxious. She continued asking if we were done or if we wanted to order more food and when we said we were done, replied, "Good, because the kitchen just closed." She still continued to circle obvoiusly trying to get us to leave. There were open tables and she just stood at the waitress station in the meantime which was confusing. We werent taking up a table on a busy night, and we were still ordering drinks. The waitress came over soon again and interrupted us again... to ask my wife on the inside to pass a few empty glasses and dishes to her until the waitress grabbed my friends drink she hadnt finished. My friend had had it and said, "Okay, okay, were leaving. We get it." The waitress very quickly dropped the glass and said, "No, take youre time, its fine!". Then sat and watched us until my friend finished her drink, darted over, and said, "Okay, now its empty so I can take it now, right? " We gave up having a decent night and put on our coats as we saw the waitress doing the same and running out. It was 10pm. We felt bad she wanted to go home and was waiting to close out the bill, but wish shed squared the food bill and let us get our own drinks at the bar as many places will do when the kitchen closes. The bar was hopping and slowly filling up, even with some gross grunge rock sounding band trying to kill their instruments in the back room. So my take after not coming here for years: if youre a twenty something pseudo-hipster whos too good for Chilis because youve moved out of your parents house and finally have a real job, youre probably here. Youre here because you think its quaint and cool and you can impress your college friends who dont know any better with duck poutine and beers not made by Anheuser Busch. If you want good food, friendly service and a comfy atmosphere, Plymouth has tons of other options, even a Chilis if thats your thing.

I came to this bar on Saturday, March 5th for a bar crawl. It was a going away party for my friend who is leaving for the Navy, and there were about 15 of us give or take. We arrived around 7:30pm. After about 10 minutes of no service from the bartenders, one of the bartenders came over and said "Im not trying to be bratty, but you guys showed up right in the middle of dinner, and usually when someone is doing a bar crawl, they give us a call in advance to let us know," and then CONTINUED to ignore us and not serve us. As soon as she made that comment, we all got up and left. The manager (or another bartender, Im not sure) tried to do some damage control and tell us to come back after 9pm because we would "have fun" at that time. How are you going to turn us away, a group of people who were ready to spend money and A LOT of it, and then beg us to come back later? Thats not how it works. As somebody who has worked in the service industry for almost 10 years, it is basic practice to at least ACKNOWLEDGE AND SERVE your customers. After leaving, we went to Speedwell across the street and had a wonderful experience with excellent service. I have never been turned away from a bar in my life. Thank you New World Tavern for my first experience.

Fantastic Food Paired with excellent beer choices!! We visited from Colorado and we are pretty spoiled by the outstanding breweries and restaurants but the New World Tavern is amazing. Its fantastic to see a new type of restaurant exploring the world of beer and pairing that with new favorites - often using ingredients that locals have known for years. For example, one of the two nights we went, we had Coconut curried scallops with carrot puree. People have been enjoying scallops in Plymouth for years - but not like this - and not while paired with a locally brewed pumpkin beer! The portions arent going to be huge - this is a place to explore tastes along with beers. You dont want to fill up on food when you have so many great beers to try! But the food you do try is excellent. New World Tavern was my favorite restaurant in Plymouth - not specifically for seafood (where honestly there are even better restaurants), but for an overall beer meets food experience. Absolutely loved it - Id be there once a week if I lived nearby.

My favorite spot in Plymouth! First off, the beer selection is fantastic! Always something new and amazing to try, solve staples to choose from, they do not have a bad beer on tap. And the food? Amazing! Fantastic flatbreads, killer burgers, and the best waffle fries youll ever find. Also, fabulous dinner dishes. If the pumpkin grits or pasta bolognese is available, youre in luck! And you simply cannot go wrong with a tasty pork bun! (I dont know how they have mastered both American fare and some Asian favorites.) The staff is great too! Dont know what to get? Smitty and the gang know whats up, and theyre super friendly. Karaoke Tuesdays, Trivia Wednesdays, this place is where its at! Ive been a regular for about six months now, and its one of the best bars Ive ever been to.

Worst meal EVER!! Ordered roasted brussels sprouts...they were chewy, bitter, and lukewarm. Next came the duck poutine. This was a plate of waffle fries topped with some lunpy gravy, three small shreds of duck, and two small pieces of cheese. The person wbo made this has never had poutine. Last came the irish coddle. Needed salt, small portion, basically a bowl of flavorless broth with a couple of potatoes and some irish sausage. Waitress was nice and took the first two items off the bill, but with two bad food items, a manager should have been at our table to get feedback. They obviously dont care. Music was good. Come here to drink...go somewhere else if you want a decent meal.

Well, first of all, they do not lower prices if you dont want to order the whole meal. My wife ordered the lobster roll with no bread or fries and they still charged us $19, couldnt even knock off a dollar or two. My family ordered two fish tacos for $12 and they came with no sides or anything extra except added jalapenos without notifying us. We ordered a Caesar salad with no meat for $11 and it was tiny and probably costed them $2 to make. We wont come here again. All four of us felt bad for anyone else who were coming in here to eat and not drink. Dont waste your money here.
