I have enjoyed Muang Lao both times Ive eaten here. The Great: Amazing seasoning / rich and authentic flavors / large portions. The Bad: Extremely dry meat in combination rice plates on both visit -- possibly prepared and cooked earlier and was re-fired, causing it to be extremely dry and to have a funny taste. The Really Bad: My wife received food poisoning last time she was here from a seafood thai dish and refuses to come back. Its a shame. While be both ate it, she apparently ate something that tasted rancid. --- Conclusion: Keep reviewing this place -- This is a GEM of a restaurant that I suspect has a few things to work out -- and I think that they will gain more repeat business by doing this! There is nothing more important than handling your proteins correctly!

Decided to grab a quick lunch here for the 1st time. As others have mentioned, the decor is nice, the ambiance is relaxed, and the staff seemed friendly enough so they get at least 2 stars for that...the food experience on the other hand was less than desired. I ordered a very simple veggie meal which came out to almost $10. For the price, I was thinking Id be getting a fairly large portion like other asian-centric restaurants Ive patronized but alas all I got was what looked like two small sides (albeit hot and in a slick to-go container!) which unfortunately did not compute as a good value on my end. Not sure if I can recommend or will be visiting again. Heh, on the bright side, I got a new meal prep container.

Went for lunch with a group from work (about 15 people). The group, except for me, called ahead and placed their orders so the food would be ready shortly after they arrived. When I got there i was told that everyone one else had ordered. I asked if I could put in an order, and they worked it out so that my meal arrived at the same time. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and said that I wanted it spicy. It was spicy hot but not unpleasantly so. Very tasty. Lunches came with a vegetarian spring roll in a clear wrapper. Individual checks came quickly after the meal and they processed them right at the table with a card reader. I paid cash. Quick friendly service and the food was good.

I order from this place twice and is very disappointed. I did not have a choice because my favorite place is close on Monday. We just got back from out of town and wanted Lao Food. I ordered 2 order of papaya salad, fry rice and stir fry flat noodles. 2 order of the salad is about the size of 1 order from other restaurants, but put in 2 separate container. The fry rice looks so pale and the flat noodles was very salty. My kids didnt even eat it. Wasted $37 for a very dissatisfied foods.. I will never return here again. Tried it twice and thought it will be better the 2nd time. But was still disappointed from it.

Tasty, high-quality food in a fine atmosphere. I moved here after 21 years in New York City, and Muang Lao is as good or better than the best there, including in the Village, on St. Marks, or on the Upper East Side. The staff of Bo, Me (her name), and Kay are warm and friendly. I could eat the Kang Dang ($8.95) every night, found the Pad Thai just fine, the shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce large and a meal by themselves (for all of $3.95), the Larb bursting with flavor. The dishes reflect a lot of preparation, with many ingredients, combined and presented perfectly.

Late night pho? Yes!!! I loved the pho, it was tasty, and had a great sharing of meat. Came in at midnight and got great service. Everything tasted great, they even gave us some free snacks! Ill definitely be back. Ive been to Thailand before twice and can honestly say that the sticky rice here reminds me of the villages I visited there so much~ I also ordered delivery from here before and it was great. They were friendly, fast, and very smart at how they packed everything. If anyone rates this place poorly, I think its THEM who have a problem, not the restaurant

Ordered takeout from Boun. They got my phone number wrong, so when they showed up, they couldnt get hold of me. About 15 minutes after the delivery time passed, I called. They put me on hold by just laying the phone down. After nearly ten minutes, I hung up, and tried to call back. After another 20 minutes, I finally gave up and just drove over. The food was still warm, but definitely not hot. At least they took the delivery charge off. Overall, terrible customer service, but the food tasted good. Will try again, but takeout next time, no more delivery.

Just went for the first time today at lunch, ordered the chicken curry with a spiciness of 5, the highest. Fantastic flavor, everything was well cooked, the meat was tender and juicy and the curry was outstanding. Level 5 is nice and spicy for those that like their dishes hot. Nice steamed rice as well with a lovely starchiness. I will most definitely make this a regular place. The only problem I ran into was the wait time, but its worth it. Try this place, if you like curry and Thai food I expect youll love it.

I absolutely love Thai food. So when I saw this close to my hotel I was excited to give it a try. However, once I got my food I realized I chose poorly. Have you ever lit fireworks and smelled the sulphur? That is exactly what my food smelled and tasted like. I have never experienced this before with Thai food. It was NOT PLEASANT!! I dont think Ill be going back to this establishment. The atmosphere was nice and quiet and the staff was friendly and helpful, but there was something wrong with their food.

Two words. "Not Good". The service started ok when taking our orders but then food was delivered and and then we were forgotten. They are overstaffed for no reason. I would not write this review but i feel compelled to let you know. The food is very bland. The pad thai all i could taste was paprika and nothing else. The concept is almost there, the presentation is nice but nothing we had was even at least a little good. Pass this one, there are other better Thai restaurants in the area.

my first time experienced this place... i had a seafood combo ladna(big flat noodle) nice authentic flavors and a large portion, i personally think its a very large portion. i mean really bangs for your bucks.. really nice to see a Lao authentic cuisine restaurant, which by the way, Laos and Thai are very similar in many ways for those who are not familiar. overall nice, they got me at Herro. Thank You.

Color me impressed. Met a friend for lunch here today, everything was excellent and made fresh. The papaya salad (Tum Muc-Hoong) was awesome, ordered as a 3 out of 5 on the spicy scale, might order 5 next time but it was nice and very tasty. The lahp sin, sausage and nam khao were also each very good and true to taste. Cant wait to go back and see how good their other dishes are!
