My wife and I recently went to Gaslight in Lynnfield after a wake we had to go to. We hardly ever get out anymore since the baby and took this as an opportunity to get dinner together. Upon walking in the restaurant is really great looking and the hostess staff was very nice sitting us in a booth as requested. Once seated my wife and I had plenty of time to talk as it took the better part of 15+ minutes for anyone to acknowledge our existence. The server we had was very matter of fact in asking us if we wanted any drinks however never introduced himself or asked how our night was or if it was our first time there which it was. From there we reviewed the menu and I chose the french onion soup as an appetizer and the tuna entree for a meal; my wife ordered just an entree, the painted hills sirloin. Everything at Gaslight apparently takes a lot of time. Just when I thought perhaps the soup was forgotten it arrived. Personally I love french onion soup and try it anyplace that has it on a menu however while its appearance and presentation was amazing there was no flavor, it truly tasted like simply warm water with cheese. Our server noticed that I was not eating it and asked if it was okay to which I replied that it simply tasted like water. At my response the server began asking me if I had ever had french onion soup before implying that I didnt know how it should taste. He ended up taking it back to the kitchen and removing it from the bill. I then noticed a gentleman across from our table who also had the soup pouring about half of a pepper bottle in it to give it flavor in order to eat it. From here we then received our entrees to which the tuna was really great and the creamed spinach it came with was amazing and the 1.5 fingerling potatoes it came with were a nice accent to the plate. My wifes steak was okay, it had a nice char on it and tasted good and came with two large shiitake mushrooms that were like chewing through cardboard. The tuna is the reason for my "bonus" star in the review. We finished, had a creme brule for dessert, paid the check and left for the night. It was honestly the worst $100 I have ever spent on a meal (without alcohol on the bill), I do not recall a time where I have felt bad about spending $100 on a dinner for my wife and I however the service and food did not warrant it here. We should have gone to C-Bar. We will not be going back to Gaslight, it was a poor ending to a bad day. Spend your hard earned money someplace else, take that same money and really treat yourself at Capital Grill where the service and food is second to non. I hope that management reads this review and takes it seriously, you have an amazing looking restaurant and all the opportunity with location but you have to do what you do well in that industry and the restaurant is simply not.

We went for brunch yesterday, and granted we should have checked the menu prior to sitting down, because two in our party of three were really not up for typical brunch food. We expected, however, having been to other brunches at different restaurants to be able to find some more lunch-like items on the menu besides salad and the one burger choice. The two salads that we ordered arrived without dressing and when the dressing did finally arrive, was awful and too acidic. Food aside, what really bothered me though was the complete "I dont care" attitude of our waiter. He seemed bored and arrogant right from the start and as soon as our meal was finished, he dropped off the check without bothering to see if we wanted anything else. My daughter had to request a dessert menu from him and coffee. This is not acceptable especially given the $94 bill. I expect much more from my server and the restaurant when prices like this are changed. Ive gone to Gaslight several times now, usually for drinks and apps at the bar or dinner, and Ive been very satisfied with my experience in those situations. Its amazing, however, how one bad experience can really turn you off from the restaurant all together. Im hoping that management reads this; while I cant tell you our waiters name I can tell you we were sitting in the middle section of the restaurant around 2:45 pm - 3 pm on 3/26 and he had dark skin (looked almost to be of Indian descent) and very thick hair. Hes hurting your restaurant - believe me. It will be a long time before I go back. My daughter who is a server at a restaurant in Boston, and who is generally very understanding of restaurant employees because shes often in similar situations and dealing with a not so nice public, stated that his demeanor was awful and someone in management should be watching more carefully.

This place is awesome! Was here for Valentines Day. The restaurant was completely booked, good thing we had a reservation before hand . Valet is complimentary if dined at the restaurant. We were seated in the outside patio, it wasnt too cold that night and they also have those outdoors heating poles. They offer a special 3 course or 6 course dinner with complimentary appetizer . For the first course we order octopus and scallops. Octopus was made with tangerine so it had a tropical taste to it. The scallops in my opinion was a little bland, maybe more flavoring or butter would have made it better. For our main dishes we order streak and sole. The steak was excellent, juicy n tender and absolutely well done! The sole was okay. For desserts, I absolute love their Pistachio and cream cake, it was amazing. Best desserts Ive had in a while!

We went to the gas light in Lynnfield and we didnt have a good experience. We had four people and all the meals were terrible. My son ordered a kids cheese burger and the top of the patty was totally charred and black. My daughter ordered a kids rotisserie chicken and it was super dry very salty and bland. No taste at all. My wife ordered a rosted chicken and it was also very salty dry and bland. I ordered a chicken risotto and there was only one piece of chicken in it also the risotto was Under cooked. Also the bread come in no more than five minutes before our meals .our service was also bad. Our waiter didnt check on us and didnt show appreciation and he was doing a French accent that sounded fake but none of the other waiters did an accent. bad food bad service bad restaurant. NOT coming back NOT happy.

Avoid going on busy days as service lacks personal touch. After being seated, it took about 15 min for a waiter to show up, and when she did she went straight to taking our order. Totally skipped asking if we wanted something to drink. The food took about 1 hour and 1/2 to arrive. The service space is very nice, but the waiter service lacks. If they can train the staff to make some improvements the place can become a 5-Star

My husband took me to dinner here for my birthday last night. Everything was wonderful. The service, the food, the atmosphere. We had oysters on the half shell, an amazing charcuterie with country pate, serrano ham, blue cheese, sheeps milk cheese and mimolette and escargot. Finished with an amazing hot chocolate cake and ice cream. We will definitely be back again. Thank you, Angeline for making the night special.
