Petit Robert Central is an affordable French restaurant that is ideal for workers in the Financial District and Downtown Crossing. Although prices are great compared to other French restaurants, the quality has slowly diminished. Regardless, it is still my go-to place for escargot, a tasty warm baguette, and the most delicious butter you will ever lay your hands on. The restaurant is an addition to the other Petit Robert Bistros and Jackys Table, which has now closed. What makes the Central establishment more unique is its lovely bar, high ceilings, spacious seating, but it has a more "chain-restaurant" feel. Petit Robert Bistros are more quaint, intimate, and their food tends to be of better quality. Most of the dishes here are A-OK, such as the trio of pates, skirt steak, escargot, mussels (very heavy on the wine), onion soup, garden salad with panko crusted goat cheese... But overall, if you are looking for an affordable French restaurant in the Boston area, this is a safe place- although it is underwhelming compared to others. Id recommend going to the Bistros instead of Central if you are around Kenmore Square or South End so you can enjoy your dining experience in a much more relaxed and comfortable setting. The quality of food is significantly better at the other locations, as well as the service. But if you are in Downtown Crossing and would like a change of scenery from it once in a while, Petit Robert Central is really refreshing from time to time. Bon appétit!

Visited for lunch and found the experience disappointing -- except for the kind waitress who raced after me because I forgot my credit card. The initial bread was warm, baguette-shaped, and even pleasant but it was not a baguette in the French sense with a notable crust. A sort of pleasant fake baguette. (Contrast the bread, say, at Brasserie Jo.) The charcuterie board of cured meats was the most disappointing charcuterie Ive ever ordered: Three piles of what might be described as cold cuts, one of them even looking a bit dried out. The pickles were nice. I ordered the Salad Nicoise because it came with white anchovy rather than tuna which I dont digest well. The green beans were quite good. The roasted potatoes a mismatch and the hard-boiled egg had a grey ring around the yolk. As for the promised white anchovy, well there was a single anchovy filet! But after the dried out meat on the charcuterie board, I wasnt convinced it would be safe to eat it anyway.

A very solid restaurant situated in a cozy intersection, Central Bistro offers a decent selection in terms of . The steak frites I had was very nice (medium; Im not a savage). The elevation of this restaurant allows for excellent people-watching if youre seated next to a window, making for a great backdrop to enjoy your meal. Staff was courteous and friendly.

To sum it up in one word: PHENOMENAL! Very nice atmosphere & loved talkin politics with the couple seated next to me at the bar & the bartender. Had a delicious bowl of french onion soup as my app; a must have. And my steak frite was med-well to perfection, along with the wine infused au jus sauce on the side. Cant wait to go back, maybe have a date there.

Fashionable bistro with a very pleasant & authentic atmosphere. Dinner was very good - the menu is adapted to the season and offers classic french dishes, fine cuisine without chichi. Service was great - the french waitress in charge of our table was 100% knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Overall: a great dining experience!

Great hidden French restaurant, much bigger than expected. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor and entrance is actually on summer st, so the place is a little hard to find. The restaurant has a private room and a decent size bar for after work drinks. Had the steak lunch entree and it was delicious and portion was huge.

Food is no longer French. It used to be called Petit Roberts but they changed the name. It is just another American pub food place. Its not bad its just not as good as it used to be. Its a solid choice for lunch. They have plenty of tables and seat you very quickly even during rush times. Comfortable environment.

This spot is definitely underappreciated, perhaps due to the fact that the storefront can get lost in the midst of downtown crossing. Cute Parisian vibe with delicious french food at a reasonable price. Great bar service as well and perfect location for reasonably priced private dining

I always enjoy dinner at PRC. The menu is a mix of French classics and new ideas that are French-inspired. The interior is gorgeous, and the restaurant truly comes to life as it fills up with patrons. The service is attentive -- maybe a little too attentive for my taste.

The food is good and reasonably-priced for French cuisine. The service is always exceptional, regardless of party size or if you are the bar or in the dining room. I prefer to come here for the weekday happy hour at the bar.

Nice digs, can be a little hard to find as the address doesnt match up to their primary entrance on the cross street. Youll have the bar to yourself on most Friday nights as the area empties out.

Ok after work bar with descent food. Dies very quickly after 8pm. Wine menu is just ok which is surprising since it is french themed. Great bartenders who remember the regulars.

Great little restaurant tucked away on the second floor of an office building in downtown crossing. If you can find the way to get there it is worth the visit.

Overall, I find Petit Robert good! The food is decent and pretty authentic, and the service is on par. The chocolate Eiffel Tower dessert is adorable.

Great place for our class reunion. The only slight flaw is that the bar is immediately inside the door, so people didnt move into the room.
