Everyone should treat themselves to an evening at Menton — and thats just what my husband and I did on my 29th birthday...treated ourselves. From the moment we entered, we enjoyed impeccable service from the staff who seated us a small, sweetly designed lounge and took our cocktail order. I especially enjoyed Mentons version of a Brown Derby and the crispy olive breadsticks we nibbled on were highly addictive. We quickly settled on the Chefs Tasting and almost immediately plate after plate of intriguing dishes began to emerge from the kitchen. Some highlights were the Carmelized Onion and Goat Cheese Macaroons, Tomato Jam, the Seared Foie Gras with fresh berries, and the Duck two-ways which was as close to perfect as you can get. Another stand out was Mentons signature cocktail, the Lazzurene — a delicious concoction with lavender, citrus, and gin. After an amazing array of desserts, we were stuffed, but decided to end with a cocktail at Drink. The staff was happy to accomodate and when a seat at the bar was ready for us downstairs, they brought us down and walked us to our seats. All and all, an incredible night and well worth the expense.

our experience at menton was nice, but definitely below our expectation. we did the tasting menu and the wine pairing. each course of the tasting menu was good. we didnt find any course which we thought was "WOW!" the wine pairings were also good. again, nothing Wow. we did find that there was nothing we disliked. everything was prepared well. there was an additional cheese course for extra, we did try 2 cheeses, which were good. i find that adding an extra course in the tasting for an extra fee seems odd, but that is a minor point, not prohibitive. service was top notch. people were quite attentive. at the end of the day, i think the dinner was a nice dinner. we had a nice time, and we dont regret going. but for a 5 diamond AAA experience at the price of such a tasting menu and wine pairing, we expect something to knock our socks off, which unfortunately we didnt find. our comparison point in boston would be lespalier, which i think exceeded our expectations. id recommend going once for the experience, but im not sure id return.

Visited during "restaurant week" (air-quotes used since the prix fixe menu was $72 pp) and had a meal that blew away the idea that all chefs phone it in during this promotion. Having been a fan of all of Chef Lynchs other establishments, my high expectations for Menton were blown away. While the food and service are incredibly refined, it lacks the stodginess or pretension one comes to expect at this price point. The a la carte menu and wine lists look intriguing, and are probably excellent options for those capable of making regular visits to Menton, but if this is the special occasion for you that it is for most of the other diners in the room, put yourself in the chefs and sommeliers hands and order the tasting and accompanying pairings. A range of mostly locally sourced produce and proteins are prepared with classic flavors in mind, but without fear of inventiveness. And unlike some other very successful meals Ive had from highly creative chefs, there wasnt a single bite that didnt work perfectly. A true pleasure in every way.

Fine dining in Boston at its best. Ive been to French Laundry in Napa and this is the closest thing to that youll be able to get around Boston. Impeccable service. Classy white table cloth atmosphere. The location in Fort Point is just perfect. The extra large windows add to the ambiance here. Again the service, presentation, and cuisine here is pretty close to flawless. Throughout the meal there was various Amuse Bouche, which is a fancy way to say mini appetizers. They come int between courses and change all the time. It made the 4 course meal seem like 8. All of the little bites were all delicious. Put this on your Boston bucket list. Since the menu changes all the time here is a sample of what we had on our night there: Unlimited Artisan Bread Basket Foie Gras Salmon Monkfish Venison Game Hen Deconstructed Banana Bread Deconstructed Ice Cream Sandwich

After tasting Sportello that was really good! (Really :)!) I wanted to taste Barbara Lynchs other restaurant more "haut de gamme"; Menton. Mhm at my surprise I ordered Cavatellis and it looked like Gnocchis with a sauce of butter ( yeah indeed it was really butter down my pastas, just butter). My friend took what they called Bigollis although it was so thin that it seemed more likely to me spaghettis. Their portions are ridiculous. However they had good quality food but the chef wasnt that perfomant. They served us an appetizer of raw fish and chanterelles. The chanterelles were so acidic they did not have any taste! To conclude, again a false French ! Encore un faux restaurant Francais !

We live in France and have more than once been disappointed with Michelin 3-star restaurants. Our dinner experience at Menton was above and beyond at least a couple French 3 stars- and not as expensive. The only- and were very critical- thing that was disappointing was that the lobster salad was served at room temp. I thought it should have been chilled (big deal, but I mention it because it was the ONLY thing that we could negatively critique). Congratulations and thank you Menton for such an exceptional and memorable experience.

I had their In Evolution 8-course meal. The food was exquisite and I definitely worth a try. My group thought the small portions were not going to be a enough so we ordered the Fishermans Catch. In hindsight, the 8-course meal and drinks is enough by itself to fill an average person so theres no need to order more. You can always order more dessert if you are still hungry. The service is simply exceptional. All things considered, I dont see myself coming back here until they have had a drastic change to their menu.

Hands down the best dining experience I have ever had in Boston! Came here during their version of restaurant week and while I got a great deal, I feel the regular prices would be well wroth it! I got the vegetarian pre fixe and everything I had was delicious The chef prepared a lentil/rice/barely type entree which included mushrooms and each bite was better then the next. The breads were fresh and warm and the service was excellent from start to finish. I will be coming back as soon as I can!

Had dinner here last week with my mother. The service was good but not great. Our first courses were delicious (me crab, her asparagus). However, our second courses were a major disappointment (me halibut, her chicken). Overcooked, lacking flavor. I will give them both five stars for presentation. The atmosphere is lovely but, we were there on a weeknight and nearly every other table was an expense account business group dinner and that kind of sucked the intimacy out of the place.

Overall a so so experience. The food was good but not outstanding. Our favorite was the Langoustine appetizer. The lack of a bar for a cocktail made sitting in the "gathering room" at the front of the restaurant a bit awkward. Service was good though a bit slow and the waitstaff were not knowledgeable about what they served. Under-impressed for the price of the dinner. Save some money and enjoy the experience at Clio instead. Far superior food.
